disciple and the ressurection

The Disciple And The Ressurection Of Jesus Christ Part One. RCCG SOD Year 10

The Disciple And The Ressurection Of Jesus Christ. RCCG SOD Year 10

In 1 Cor. 15:14-20, the Bible says that if Jesus did not rise from death, then our faith is in vain and that we are of all men most miserable.

If we die with Christ, crucified with Christ, if we suffer the loss, of all things just for the sake of Christ, and then we discover that there is no resurrection, what a waste. But glory to Go,d there is a resurrection. As Jesus said in John 11:25,

“I am the ressurection and the life: He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet he shall live”.

The resurrection Himself is Jesus Christ. Thank God there is a resurrection, and Jesus said it in Luke 20:27-36. The Bible talked about some people who came to Jesus and tempted him. They said there was this man who had a wife, and he died without his wife having an issue. This man had six brothers, and they all married this lady. They all kept doing it without an issue. Finally, the woman died. So they said at the ressurection, whose wife is the woman going to be? If there were no resurrection, Jesus would have said there was no resurrection. All he told them was that they were making a mistake and that at the ressurection, there is no marriage. In other words, He made it clear that there is going to be resurrection.

The Disciple and The Cruxifixion Of Christ. RCCG SOD Year 10

The Disciple and The Cruxifixion Of Christ. RCCG SOD Year 10

What is the relationship between the disciple of Jesus Christ and his crucifixion?

In Matthew 10:38-39, the LORD said, And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it, and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

And the Lord repeated this in Matthew 16:24-25, “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it, and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

What is the Lord saying here? He is saying that if you want to be a disciple of Jesus Christ,

  1. You must deny yourself.
  2. You must pick up your cross.
  3. You must follow him.

Let us look at a story in Mark 10:17-22. It was the story of a young rich man who came to Jesus and wanted to know what to do to make it to heaven. The LORD told him what is expected of him – Loving God and your neighbour. He said he had been doing all these since his youth.

The Bible went on to say in verse 21,

“Then Jesus, beholding him loved him, and said unto him, one thing you lackest, go thy way, sell whatsoever you hast, and give to the poor, and thou shall have treasure in heavens, and come, take up thy cross, and follow me.

The Bible says this fellow went away sorrowful because he had great possessions. He was also sorrowful because Jesus said unto him, “You have to sell what you have, give to the poor and come and follow Me, carrying your cross. “

We all know that we must be born again to make it to heaven and thank God for the salvation of our souls. We all know we must live a life of holiness, that we must have no spot, no wrinkle, and I believe that as a Year 10 Disciple, you have reached that level. I know none of you will ever dream of committing adultery or lying, but the Lord is now saying that it takes a little more than this to make it to heaven. This is why He said it is going to be difficult for the rich man to make it to heaven; you have to be hol,y and then you have to let go of worldly possessions.

You will find out that it is the poor who find it very easy to pay Tithes. For example, paying 10 naira out of an income of 100 naira is not a problem, but paying 100,000 naira out of an income of 1,000,000 naira is a burden to the rich. The poor never ask how he is going to pay the Tithes, whether on the gross or on the net incomes. It is the rich who ask such questions.

The Lord ask somebody now to surrender 50% of what he has to him. It is the poor who would be ready to give because they do not have much. Maybe the fellow has only one bicycle. He will say, “God, I don’t know how we are going to share it. If you want it all, you can have it. ‘But the one who had twenty houses will say, Yes Lord, I am ready to give You ten houses, but I hope You know, God, that houses are houses. You can have the one in Ifewara (the village)  and the one in Erijiyan (Another village), but don’t think of the one in Victoria Island (the city), and don’t think of the one in America.

The rich have a problem because material wealth blocks their sight of God. But what you need to know is what Jesus says here. He says if you try to keep your life, you will lose it. In other words,  if there is anything you do not surrender to God, you are going to lose it anyway. You should give it to Him so that He can bless you rather than for Satan to take it away from you and curse you in addition.

You will remember how long it took Abraham before Isaac came, but when God said to Him,

“I want your only son, Isaac…

Abraham remembered that he started from zero anyway, and so anything he had came from God, and if God wanted it, he could have it. If Abraham had wavered when God asked Him to surrender Isaac, that would have been the end of the story concerning Abraham. And you, too, may ask, “When is God likely to ask me to surrender anything?”

According to Luke 9:23-36. He asks you to carry your cross daily. And what does this mean? It means any moment from now, He may ask you to surrender all you have. I know this may sound foolish, because what God is saying now is that you can have anything, keep on enjoying it but tomorrow, I can ask for everything. You may say Why am I building houses if He can ask for all of them tomorrow?

Why am I buying cars if he can require everything tomorrow? Why am i piling money up in the bank when tomorrow He can say, “I want 100%?”

The Bible tells us in 1 Cor. 1:17-18 that the preaching of Christ is foolishness to them that perish.

Today, what we want to hear is that we are King’s kids. We are, no doubt about that, but the King’s kids must be ready to surrender everything that he is to the King. Your father is not a King because you are a prince. If is the other way round, and if your Father provides you with all kinds of treasures, you can lose it like Vashti lost her own, and became a nobody or God can take you like Esther, from a slave, and make you a Queen, and give you everything, provided you are aware that tomorrow, you might be asked to risk not even all that you have, but your very life too. Why do you need to hold on to something you cannot keep anyway, when you know that it’s the Almighty God who can make sure you keep whatever you retain?

THE CROSS OF CHRIST

So When we talk about the Cross of Christ, it is not something for decoration as some people wear it. When we ask you to come to the foot of the Cross, you are to come with humility to the cross, the blood of Jesus will cleanse you from your sins. We know you will not go back the way you came.

THE ENEMY OF THE CROSS

The Bible says the cross has many enemies. Why does the Crosshave  so many enemies?

Philippians 3:17-18, the Bible says, “Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an example. For many walk of whom I have told you often and now tell even weeping, that they are the enemy of the cross of Christ.

Bible made it clear that for some people, the Cross is their enemy because their god is their belly, their glory is in their shame because they mind earthly things. You need to note one thing here. There are very few enemies of Christ, but many enemies of the Cross. You, too, have to be careful because if you are not , you can become an enemy of the Cross, because the Cross can take everything you have away from you.

SELF MUST BE CRUCIFIED

Paul said in Galatians 6:14 that:

“But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is cruxified unto me, and I unto the world”.

There must be a total crucifixion on the cross. Cruxifixion of you, you to the cross. In other words, you must get to that stage where you no longer glory in anything except the cross. Do not glory in your wisdom because a Professor can become a madman. Do not glory in your might because there is no might except that of God. And believe me, honestly, if you are wealthy, do not glory in your wealth because the Bible tells us clearly that money can grow wings. It can fly away at any time. DO not glory in your children. The elders have a saying that nobody should rejoice over his children because it is the only one who had been buried by children that has children, which means the only time you can rejoice over your children is when you are dead. And then how can the dead rejoice? So they are saying listen, do not rejoice over children at all.

If you don’t sit down today and take sum of everything you have, make up your mind that you are ready to crucify everything; you are not yet a disciple. If you are not willing to say to the LORD. If you want the total sum of everything I have today, you can have it, then you are not a friend of the cross.

THE OLD MAN

The world looks for certain things in certain people before they will say the person is successful. For example, the world will determine how successful you are by the dress you wear, the kind of car you ride in, and the number of houses you possess, and there was a time when the number of wives you had determined how wealthy you were. All these things the Bible sum up as our “old man”. You must stop thinking the way the world thinks. Your values must be different from the values of the world.

Romans 6:6 says that:

“And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts”

This is a very serious one. We understand crucifying the lusts, but crucifying affections too? Because affection is not a bad thing, it is alright to love your wife. It is alright to love your children, but if you want to be a follower of Jesus Christ, if you want to be a solid disciple, you have to crucify your affections too. What does this mean? It means that if the Almighty God asks for your son, that son that you love, if you have not crucified your affections, then it will be difficult to say, “Yes Lord”. You will remember what God said to Abraham,

“Take thy son, thy only son, Isaac, whom thou lovest, go and offer him for a sacrifice”

THE SECRET OF PEACE

The secret of peace for any true disciple is to have nothing in this world, absolutely nothing. Do not regard anything as your own.  Be it wife or children or husband, do not even to talk of material things because the moment the devil knows that there is nothing you hold there other than jesus, it will be difficult for him to attack you. Let him know the children are not your children. They belong to God. You have surrendered your wife. Your business is not yours. If it prospers, glory be to God. If it does not, let the managing director or the chairman himself take care. If you do not get to that stage, you are going to have problems.

Paul said in Galatians 2:20;

“I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live…”

What does this tell us? The only fellow who will not care what happen to my wife or children or material possesions, is only the one who is dead, because if you are alive and you are still living in the flesh, how can you say you don’t care about what happens to your wife and to your children. This is why Paul said,

“Nevertheless, I live…”

In other words, unless you die, you don’t even begin to live, because until you die, there can be no resurrection. Until you are crucified in Christ, you cannot even begin to discuss resurrection.

So we need to think about this very seriously. We need to remember that as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to carry our cross daily because any moment, the need for total cruxifision may arise.

So we need to think about this very seriously. We need to remember what as disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to carry our cross because any moment, the need for total cruxifison may arise.

God may separate you and everything you have in a moment, which is why it will be advisable that you crucify yourself right now. Make up your mind that from now on, I am for Christ and Christ alone. Whatever comes does not matter. If you do not decide now , when you have to decide, it might be painful.

PRAYER

Talk to the Lord for a few minutes and ask Him. Lord, lay me on the Cross and finish a total cruxifision so that when the time comes, I might live with You. Talk to Him now.

Divine Representatives. RCCG SOD Year Six

Divine Representatives. RCCG SOD Year Six

Now we want to round up this session by studying Divine Representatives. We will look at the lives of two young men who excelled as divine representatives. We want to see what we can learn from their lives. In Acts 6:1-2, we found that certain young men were chosen as deacons and all those who are chosen as deacons has three basic qualifications.

  1. They were all to be HONEST.
  2. They were all to be full of HOLY SPIRIT.
  3. They were all to be full of WISDOM.

In addition to the above, they also had the following:

#4 HUMILITY

When you consider the work that these deacons were to do for God, they were to be serving at tables and to be serving Widows. By implication, they had to be humble. You have to be humble to be serving others.

Others sit down and eat while you serve them.

So, anyone who is going to be a representative of God, in addition to being honest, full of Holy Spirit and wise, ,must also be humble . The Bible has a lot to say about humility.

In Luke 14:11, Bible says:

“He that humbles himself shall be exalted”.

Also, in James 4:6, the Bible says:

“God resist the proud but He gives grace to the humble”.

Then 1 Peter 5:6 says:

“Humble thyself under the mighty hands of God and He will exalt you in due time”.

#5 Holiness

In addition to being humble, these people must have been Holy too. Why? Because they were going to minister to widows. They take food to the houses of widows, if they are not holy, there will be problems. There are men, those people are widows, they have no husband to protect them so it is only Holy people who could be divine representatives.

Divine representatives must have five additional qualities.

ADDITIONAL QUALITIES OF DIVINE REPRESENTATIVES

Stephen and Phillip had certain qualities common to both of them and we will consider that of Stephen for illustration. If you look at Acts 6:5, the Bible says:

#1 Stephen was full of FAITH

In other words, he trusted God completely. He understood that underneath are His everlasting arms into which he surrendered himself for better for worse. He had the kind of faith of Shadrack, Meschack and Abednego, the kind of faith that was recorded for us in Daniel 3:14-18. This is where those three boys said, “we know our God can deliver us. We know he will deliver us and even if he does not deliver us, we don’t care. We are not going to bow to any idol. We trust Him completely”. Stephen had that kind of faith and of course Philip had that kind of faith too. Otherwise they would not have been able to achieve the kind of miracles that they achieved.

#2 He was full of FAITH and POWER.

Then in Acts 6:8, the Bible says that Stephen was full of POWER. Why was he full of power? Because he was full of FAITH. It is just one step to being full of power.

#3 Acts 6:9-10 also says he was full of irresistible WISDOM.

All the Professors gathered  together but could not resist his wisdom because that wisdom was supplied by the Holy Spirit.

#4 Triumphant Peace

If you look at Acts 6;15, he was full of glory because he had peace, triumphant peace , the lack of fear that was within him.

#5  He was full of the Word.

But then when you go to Acts 7:1 , you will see this young man begin to preach and you will suddenly notice that he was full of the Word of God. He was full of the scriptures. In one single sermon, he went from Genesis to the end of the Gospel.

#6 He was Visionary

Just before he died in Acts 7:55-56, he looked up to heaven and he saw the invincible, because he was visionary. Those who will be representatives of God will be able to see far ahead. They will be able to see far ahead. They will be able to see what ordinary people cannot see. They will be able to see into tomorrow. It is only then that they can be divine representatives.

#7 He was full of Prayer

And if you look at Acts 7:59, you will find that he is a man full of prayer. The last thing Stephen did before he left this world was prayer. He prayed,

“Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. Father forgive them, lay not this sin to their charge”.

He was praying all the time.

SUMMARY

What are the qualities you must have before God can choose you as His Representative?

  1. You must be honest because God will not deal with somebody who is deceitful.
  2. Full of the Holy Spirit because the work of god cannot be done by might or by power, it can only be done by the Spirit of God.
  3. Wise because after all, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
  4. Humble because it will take humility to do the kind of assignment God will give you.
  5. Holy because God may have to send you to minister to widows.
  6. Full of faith because without faith , nobody can please God.
  7. Full of power because the work of God has to be done with tremendous power.
  8. Full of Glory but this will come as a result of inner peace, because you know who you believe. You are entirely in the Hand of the Almighty God.
  9. FULL OF THE WORD OF GOD because these words are living spirits. When you are full of the Word of God , you will be able to speak out and say, “Thus said the Lord”. You will be able to say “It is written”.
  10. VISIONARY. You must be ready to see the invincible and of course you must be full of PRAYERS.

Now we want you to spend at least twenty minutes to pray quality prayers. If you cannot pray for tenty minutes at a time, you need a revival. Go now and talk to the LORD.

Next time I see you in the mighty name of jesus , you will be a very strong representative of the Almighty God.

Talk to him now. God bless you as you do so.

How To Deal With Doubts. RCCG SOD Year Six

How To Deal With Doubts. RCCG SOD Year Six

Every disciple at one time or the other wonders, is Jesus truly who He say he is? Is He what he says He is? Is it true that those who put their trust in God will not be put to shame? We sometimes doubt when we see some things that don’t seem to agree with the Word of God, for example, He say we would lay hands on the sick and they would recover. At times you lay hands on the sick and they die and you begin to doubt in your mind . what do you do at such time?

HOW TO CONQUER DOUBTS

#1 Remember What God has done in the Past

Anytime you are faced with concrete doubt, the first thing to do is to remember what God has done for you in the past. 1 Samuel 17:32-37 , when David came face to face with Goliath, what drove away every doubt in his mind is that he remembered when a bear came to attack him. This is why he said:

“Bless the Lord oh my Soul and all that is within me , bless the name of the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

And then in Psalm 106:9-13. the Bible says:

“He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up: so he led them through the depths, as through the wilderness. And he saved them from the hand of him that hated them, and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. And the waters covered their enemies: there was not one of them left.

Then believed they his words; they sang his praise. They soon forget his works; they waited not for his counsels.

The Bible says the children of Israel forgot what God did at the Red Sea, so when they got to the bitter water, they began to grumble. God did that for them again. He changed their bitter water to sweet. The moment they came across another problem again, they began to grumble. Miracles upon mircles God did, but they never remembered and as aa result they suffered seriously for it. The new problem facing you may be different from old one but remember it is the same old God, the Ancient of days, the unchanged Lord, and He can solve any problem. When there are doubts in your mind, remember what God has done in the past.

Have a Good View of God

Make sure you view God accurately. You need to know beyond all doubt that our God can do all things. In 2 Kings 7:1-20 when Elijah prophesized there would be abundance of food in the land, he knew God can even use lepers to bring it to pass. Don’t ever worry yourself about how God will perform miracles, this is not your business. All you need to do is to know who this your God is.

In Numbers 11:21-32, the children of Israel in the wilderness said they wanted meat, they said they were tired of manna. God told Moses to tell them he would give them meat that would feed them. The Lord said that was not Moses headache, that was his job. God told them that they ould not eat meat for one day until meat was coming out of their nostrils.

The Almighty God spoke to the east wind and says every quail that could be found in the whole should be blown fast to the camp of the children of Israel. God brought as many quails. They landed finally, they were so tired that they could not run. The children of Israel were just picking them at the camp.

In John 6:5-9 when Jesus Christ said Phillip should give food to the multitudes following Him. Philipp said where would he get bread but Jesus Christ knew what he would do. He know what’s He would do in your even before mountain come. He already has a plan and it is a good plan.

In 1 Kings 17:2-6 , when God told Elijah to go and sit down by the Brook, promising to send birds to bring him food, Elijah did not doubt because he knew God he was serving. God can command birds and they will do whatever He commanded them to do. The same God is your God.

In 1 Kings 17:8-16, the widow of Zarephath knew that our God can do anything. That is why she surrendered her last meal. She knew somehow God would feed her and her son. Believe me honestly disciple, God can take care of you too.

In Luke 1:11-38, the high priest asked for a sign, a virgin asked for only an explanation. The Angel of the Lord came to the High priest Zechariah , and told Zechariah that he was going to have a son in his old age. It was true he was old, his wife was also old but he was the high priest of God. He was supposed to know God better, that God can do anything, but he asked for a sign and God gave him a sign. He was dumb for one year. But when the same angel went to Mary who was not a high priest, not an evangelist, nor a pastor , not a general superintendent, nor a president founder. As soon as God said {=”this is what is going to happen”, she only said, I know you can do anything but I am not yet married, how then will I get a baby? As soon as the angel explained that the Holy spirit would overshadow her, she said “thank you, that is all I want to hear. Let it be according to your word. It will be good if you can be like Mary. Have a good view of God that He can do anything.

#3 You must check your foundation

Ask yourself if you are really saved. Ask yourself if you really believe. According to Matthew 7:22-24, the Bible says:

“Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesised in thy name? and in thy name done ma ny wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. “

Unless your house is built on a rock, the Rock that is the word of God which is forever settled, when the storm of doubt comes, the house will not be able to stand. Remember, without problems there can be no testimonies.

1 John 4:4 said we overcome because greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. If you are truly born again then the greater One is dwelling in you. It does not matter what the storm may be, you will know you are an overcomer.

#4 You must Check Your Commitment to God

How committed are you to God?

In James 4:8, the Bible says:

“Draw nigh to God , and he draw will nigh to you. Cleanse your hands , ye sinners : and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

You have to submit yourself to God before you can begin to resist the devil and your commitment to God is determined by several thing. For example, you can ask yourself , what is the amount of money that I will consider too big to spend for God or how much time will I like to spend in praise and worship t Almighty God.

Talking about commitment to God, many of us wake up very late in the morning and we will be late for work, so quickly because our work is more important than God, we say, “Father, thank you for waking me up, I will see you when I return from work this evening”. And then we rush off and we cannot spend five minutes with God because we are already late. Of course you are late, then be later, because God must come first.

I learned this in a hard way. Once I was hurrying to the office, I did not do my Quiet time for as long as I should. As I was about to enter the car, suddenly I felt a severe stomach pain and I knew I cannot get to the office before I defeacate, probably in the car, so I ran back into the toilet. As soon as I got to the toilet, Daddy spoke to me, “So, you have time to go to the toilet . Now coming to the toilet is not going to delay your work or make you get to the office late. It is me that you don’t have enough time for”. From that day, He has to come first, the rest will follow.

If you spend time praising Him according to Psalm 22:3, He is going to inhabit your praises. He will need to arise and come to you. And according to Psalm 68:1, which says:

“Let God arise and his enemy be scattered”.

When he arises, you will be amazed that the doubts inside of you will flee.

#5 You must check your Growth

How fast are you growing? that you have room for doubts? Remember stagnant waters always stink. Create a path for stangnant water to flow and very soon , it will become fresh water. You too must begin to grow faster and greater.

If you allow God , He will help you to grow. According to Phil. 1:6, if you give room to God, He will allow you to grow. Also, in 1 John 4:17, the Bible says you can even grow so much that you will be as God even in this world.

Because the Bible says:

“As He is, so we are in this world”.

If you are willing to griw , God does not want to limit your growth and when you begin to grow that way and you begin to nhave the mind of God, you will then begin to understand why God does many things that you ordinarily did not understand before. He made the world out of nothing and out of nothing. He can make you great.

SO, today I want you to spend some time just praising Him. Fellowship with Him and then begin to do that constantly and suddenly you will no longer have to query Him anymore.

Praise Him now.

I am sure by the next time we meet, you would have been much closer to God than before.

Local SEO For Small Business: 10 Reasons To Give It a Thought

Local SEO For Small Business: 10 Reasons To Give It a Thought

Local SEO is a vital strategy for small businesses looking to attract customers in their geographic area. Here are some key facts about Local SEO for small businesses.

#1 Helps You Appear in Local Search Results

  • Local SEO helps businesses appear in search engine results when people search for services or products near them. For example, if someone searches for “coffee shop near me,” a business with optimized local SEO will have a better chance of showing up in the results.

#2 Google My Business (GMB) is Essential

  • Claiming and optimizing your Google My Business (GMB) listing is one of the most critical steps in local SEO. It allows your business to appear in Google Maps and the “local pack” at the top of search results, significantly improving visibility.

#3  Local Reviews Influence Rankings

  • Customer reviews are incredibly important for local SEO. Businesses with positive, recent reviews tend to rank higher. Encouraging customers to leave reviews on Google, Yelp, and other relevant platforms can help boost your local ranking.

#4 Mobile Searches Drive Local Traffic

  • Over 50% of mobile users search for local businesses, and these searches often lead to action. In fact, “near me” searches have grown significantly over the past few years. Optimizing your site for mobile use and ensuring your local information is easy to find is crucial.

#5  Local SEO Involves Consistent NAP

  • NAP stands for Name, Address, and Phone Number. Ensuring that your NAP is consistent across all online directories (like Google, Yelp, Yellow Pages, etc.) and on your website is key for local SEO rankings. Discrepancies in your NAP can harm your local search performance.

#6  Localized Content is Important

  • Creating content that is tailored to your local audience helps boost local SEO. This includes incorporating location-based keywords in your content (e.g., “Best Italian Restaurant in [City]”) and writing blog posts or articles about local events, news, or partnerships.

#7 Local Backlinks Matter

Backlinks from local websites and directories can improve your local SEO. Having backlinks from local news outlets, partners, or local business organizations increases your website’s authority and helps you rank higher in local search results.

#8 Location-Specific Keywords Are Key

  • Using keywords that include your city or region is vital for local SEO. For example, a dentist in Dallas would benefit from ranking for “best dentist in Dallas” or “Dallas family dentistry.” These keywords help attract local searchers.

#9 Local SEO Is Cost-Effective

  • Compared to other forms of marketing (like paid ads), local SEO can be very cost-effective. It helps small businesses compete with larger companies by focusing on a specific geographic area, where they can often outrank bigger competitors with better optimization.

#10 Improved Conversion Rates

  • Local SEO tends to attract more targeted traffic. Local searches are typically more intent-driven, meaning people searching for services near them are more likely to take action (e.g., visit your store, contact you, or make a purchase).

#11 Local SEO Is Not Just About Google

  • While Google dominates search, local SEO also applies to other platforms, such as Bing, Yelp, and Facebook. Ensuring your business is optimized across multiple platforms helps increase visibility and accessibility for local customers.

#12  Local Citations Are Important

  • A citation is any mention of your business online, such as on a local directory, a review site, or even a local blog. Having consistent citations on reputable websites is important for building trust with search engines and improving your local SEO ranking.

#13 Structured Data Helps

  • Using schema markup (structured data) on your website helps search engines better understand your business information, such as your hours of operation, address, and type of business. This can enhance how your business appears in search results and improve local SEO.

#14 Local SEO Improves Trust

  • By having a well-optimized presence on local platforms like Google My Business, reviews, and local citations, you build trust with potential customers. Consumers are more likely to trust a local business with good reviews and accurate, up-to-date information.

#15  Competition is Less Intense

  • For many small businesses, local SEO offers an opportunity to compete against larger competitors in a more focused and less competitive space. By narrowing your efforts to a specific geographical location, you can carve out a niche for your business.

#16  Local SEO Helps with Voice Search Optimization

  • As voice searches rise (via devices like Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant), many are local in nature. Optimizing for local SEO can increase your chances of being featured in voice search results, especially if your business is frequently mentioned in local queries.

#17 The Importance of Local Link Building

  • Building relationships with other local businesses or local media outlets can result in valuable backlinks that help your local SEO rankings. Engaging in local partnerships or sponsorships can also earn mentions or links back to your site.

#18 Local SEO is an Ongoing Process

  • Local SEO is not a one-time effort. It requires continuous optimization, monitoring, and updating. Regularly adding new reviews, updating your business information, and publishing local content can keep your business relevant in local search results.

Spiritual Power Failure and How To Deal With Them. RCCG SOD Year Six

Spiritual Power Failure and How To Deal With Them. RCCG SOD Year Six

Anointing is like electricity, so disciples should know how to deal with power failures. Anointing can be interrupted, it can be diverted or it can be stopped completely. The enemy knows this and he will do all he can to make sure it happens to the disciple. That is why this lesson is important.

CAUSES OF POWER FAILURE

There are various ways by which power can fail; as in the following examples:

#1 Run down battery

In the case of Elijah in 1 Kings 19:1-4, here is a man who has just called down fire from heaven on Mount Carmel and brought rain after three and half years of no rain. But when he got to the valley he ran several kilometres when they told him Jexebel was going to kill him by tomorrow.

And Jezebel said,

“Let the gods do so unto me or much more if I don’t kill you”

Elijah should have laughed, which gods is she talking about, gods that cannot answer prayer; but because his battery had run down, he ran away. Why did his battery run down? Because he had used massive power on the mountain and had not recharged.

#2 Damaged Conductor

The conductor that is conducting the anointing can be damaged. And if the wire is damaged, it could cause fire and it could cause death. A good example is that of Jeptha in Judges 12:7, as a result of which he lost his only daughter. Why? Because he mismanaged the power of God in him. You can read Judges 11:1-40.

#3 Blown fuse

There could also be power failure because the fuse is broken down. There is something called a fuse. It serves as a control to the power, so that if the power becomes too great, before it causes damage, the fuse will blow.

In 2 Kings 3:13-14, the fuse of Elisha was blown. Because the power that was in Elisha was tremendous and he suddenly became angry because some idol-worshipping king came to him, asking him to tell them what to do, he got angry and the holy spirit moved quickly out of the way, because it he was to use the power in him at that time, there would be trouble. That is why the Bible says in Proverb 16:32 that;

“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city”.

#4 Short Circuiting

There is another way that power could fail and this is called short-circuiting, it happens when one wire crosses another wire where it should not cross it. If you consider Joshua 1:15, where God told Joshua that no man will ever be able to stand before him all the days of his life, and then you compare that to Joshua 7:2-5, where the children of Israel fled before the enemies, you will know that something has gone wrong. Of course, something went wrong because somebody who was very crucial to Joshua had sinned. His name was Achan. You will find this in Joshua 7:10-12.

#5 Diverted Current

Current can also be diverted like in the case of King Saul. If you read  1 Samuel 10:1-11 and you compare it with 1 Samuel 16:13-23, you will see that there was a time when the power of God was heavy upon King Saul, but later on, the power was taken from him and given to David. Why? Because King Saul was using the power of God wrongly. According to 1 Samuel 15:22-28, he was disobedient to God and God found that the power He gave Saul was used wrongly, so the power was diverted from him to somebody else.

#6 Total disconnection

There is also a case of total disconnection as it occurred in the case of Samson in Judges 16:16-20. The power of Samson was disconnected when his hair was cut. What was the reason? Samson was negligent. In Judges 16;6, Delilah was plain in her request. She told Samson clearly, we want to bind you and torment you. So tell us the secret of your power”. And because Samson was negligent, he told her, and there was a power disconnection.

PREVENTION AND CURE FOR POWER FAILURE

How do we prevent these failures and how do we cure cure them?

  1. When batteries runs down, all you have to do is to recharge them. We have already discussed this in Lesson SB7 and you will remember in 1 kings 19:5-8, when the battery of Elijah ran down, what God did was to wake him u, feed him twice, so that his battery could be renewed , and then he could continue his journey.
  2. What can do so that the conductor of our anointing will never be damaged? All we have to do is to watch our mouth. In Eccl. 5:4-6, the Bible says:

“When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools ; pay that which thou hast vowed. Better is it that thou should not vow than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel that it was an error; wherefore should God be angry at thy voice and destroy the work of thine hands.”.

Watch your mouth. Be careful of what you say. This is why the Bible says in Isaiah 30:15, that in silence and quietness shall thy strength be, because if your conductor is damaged , it is damaged. We don’t know how to cure it but it is better that you prevent it by watching your mouth.

3. What happens if your fuse is blown? How do we prevent the fuse from being blown? It is anger that blew the fuse of Elisha and you have already learned in the past in Eccl. 7:9, that the only way to deal with anger : the anointing of the devil , is to refuse to be a fool, because anger rests in the bosom of fools.

Now if your fuse has been blown because of anger, the way to ger reconnected is through worship. According to 2 Kings 3:15, Elisha said bring me a minstrel and while they were worshipping, the Holy Spirit came back and the fuse was restored.

4. What about short circuiting, when one wire crosses another, how do we prevent this? You must be careful who would be your prayer partner. Don’t make people who are not ready to live a holy life your partner. And if you have already made them partners, change them. Remember 2 Corin. 6:14-17, what fellowship has light with darkness? Separate yourself. Be seperate . It is better to have nobody to help you than have somebody who will now cause you to fall.

Now suppose somebody has caused a short circuit in your flow, what should you do? Do what Joshua did in Joshua b7:24-25 and Joshua 8:18-21, The moment you discover who is the one crossing your wire, be ruthless with the fellow. Remove the fellow ruthlessly. It does not matter what anybody may say.

5. What about current diversion? You can prevent your anointing from being taken and given to somebody else. Paul said in 1 Corin. 9:27:

“I keep my body under , I put it under subjection so that when after I have preached to others, I will not be a cast away”.

How do you prevent your current from being diverted? By constant fasting and prayer.

But supposed it has been diverted already, can it be cured? Oh yes, if you will repent and you will cry for mercy, like King David did in Psalm 51:1-17. After he committed that terrible offence when he killed Urriah and took his wife, God became very angry and the anointing left him. David cried and said,

“Please forgive me. Don’t take away your spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation. I promise it will never happen again”.

And God was merciful unto him and He restored his anointing.

What about the case of disconnection? You must watch and pray. In Matthew 26;41. Jesus told his disciples to watch and pray. Watch and pray. Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:5 to watch and pray. Now suppose there is a disconnection, how do we cure it? If you repent, God can reconnect. In the case of Samson in Judges 16:2-30, after some time, the hair on his head began to grow again.

Sudden Spiritual Power failure

What do you do if you thought the power was still there and you suddenly discover that power has been disconnected, that there is power failure, what do you do?

You better switch on your Standby generator, because according to Romans 8:26-27, the holy spirit is standing by to help you pray. The holy spirit is your standby Generator. If you want to do something in an emergency and you suddenly discover that the power of God is no longer there, begin to pray in tongues immediately and hopefully the power of God will begin to flow again.

But if you are going to switch on the generator in the case of emergency and you want the generator to start work immediately , the generator must be in good condition. If you want to call on holy spirit when there is an emergency and you want Him to answer immediately, according to Ephesians 4:30-32, you must make sure that you don’t grieve the Holy Spirit. You better be sure there is no quarrel between the two of you, so that when there is emergency, you can call n him and he will answer you.

 Prayer

Now I want you to go to the Lord in Prayer and say:

LORD, IF THERE IS ANY QUARREL BETWEEN YOU AND ME, LORD PLEASE FORGIVE. GIVE ME THE GRACE FROM NOW TILL I SEE YOU IN GLORY NEVER TO DO ANYTHING THAT WILL ANNOY YOU, SO THAT ANYTIME I CALL ON YOU, I WILL KNOW THAT YOU WILL ANSWER ME.

Talk to him now.

He will answer you.

Personal Revival. RCCG SOD Year Six

What Exactly is Revival?

What Revival Does

Revival does the following:

  1. It exposes danger
  2. It exposes sin
  3. It leads to repentance
  4. It leads to restoration
  5. It leads to commissioning

In Isaiah 6:1-8, the Bible says:

In the year that King Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings: with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

And one cried unto another, and said Holy , Holy , Holy is the Lord of Hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

And the post of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, woe is me ! I am undone : because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: formine eyes have seen the king, the Lord of hosts.

Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hands, which he had taken with the tongue from the altar:

And he laid it unto the mouth and said, Lo, this hath touch thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.

Also, I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here I am, send me.”

The man of God had been prophesising for a long time, but then he had a new encounter with Jehovah. Suddenly he shouted, “Woe is me, I am undone, the glory of God revealed to him that ,

  1. He is a man of unclean lips.
  2. He was dwelling among people of unclean lips.

CERTAIN THINGS HAPPEN AFTER AN ENCOUNTER WITH GOD:

1. A new encounter with Almighty God will expose your sins and your weakness.

2. It will expose the danger in which you are living.

3. It will then lead to repentance like in the case of Isaiah.

4. It will lead to restoration.

5. It will lead to commissioning.

When an angel brought a piece of live coal from the altar of God, he used it to touch his lip and he said, now that this has touched your lips, your sins are cleansed and then immediately God spoke, “Who shall we send?, Who shall go for us?” This is commissioning, a call to service.

6. It will lead to revival.

Isaiah responded and said, “Lord, here I am, send me.” This is revival.

IMPLICATIONS OF REVIVAL

By implication, when we talk about revival, the one to be revived must have been alive before or hot before but he had become lukewarm or almost cold, so he needed a new encounter with God for him to be fully awake, fully alive and hot for God.

For example, in Luke 10:1-17, the disciples had gone out, ministered in twos and had returned in joy with testimonies. but by the time you get to John 20:19, they had already become discouraged, they were already very cold, they did not even want to follow Jesus anymore and so they needed a personal encounter with God.

NEED FOR PERSONAL REVIVAL

Individual revival is very important because this is what is going to lead to national revival. Without individual revival, there will not be national revival. In Acts 2:1-4, fire fell on the disciples. They were baptised in the Holy Ghost. They had a new encounter with God. They were all revived and what was the result? A big revival broke out in the nation. (Read Acts 2:41:4:4; 4:32, 5:14). When individuals get revived then the fire will spread and there will be national revival.

Causes of Slumber

Now we said the people to be revived must be people who used to be fully awake but who have fallen asleep. What are the causes of slumber? Almost invariably, people fall asleep either because they have succeeded or have attained a desired goal. They have reached a certain goal they have set for themselves and feel there is no need for struggling anymore, and so they relax and in the process of relaxation, they fall asleep and even begin to snore. In Ephesians 6:13, the Bible warns us that after we have done all things, we are to stand. We are to stand and not sit down.

Philippians 3:13-15 says,

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before.

I press forward the mark for the price of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Let us therefore , as many as be perfect, be thus minded, and if in anything ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.”

Paul says , “I do not count myself as somebody who has attained”.

He said, one thing I do, I forget the past and I press forward. When you have attained a goal, you could become very comfortable. You could relax and before you know it, you become idle. And then idleness will lead to indulgence of the flesh and then before you know it trouble, big trouble can come.

In 1 Samuel 11:1-4, David was sleeping when Kings were supposed to be at the battlefront. He woke up from his siesta and then went on a stroll on the wall of the palace. That was when he saw the woman who was bathing and that was the beginning of his problems. When he was running from cave to cave, he had no time for adultery. But when he had attained his goal, when he became king and had so many soldiers under him, now there was no need to struggle any more and instead of standing , he slept and got into trouble.

SOME MAJOR SIGN TO SHOW YOU NEED REVIVAL

Now, what are the signs that somebody need a revival? These are some of the major signs to show that you need a revival.

#1 SELF-CONTENTMENT

When you feel that you have made it spiritually , you are now a pastor , and in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, you cannot go higher than a pastor , you need a revival. You might say “What else do I want, I have made it. I don’t need a revival”. This is the time you need personal revival. You must stand.

#2 LUKEWARMNESS

When you feel lukewarm towards the things of God. When it is time to pray, you are lukewarm. When it is time to worship God, you worship but you do it casually. When you say “Praise the Lord”, they have to wind you two to three times before you really shout Halleluiah.

#3 BIBLE STUDY

When you read your bible once in a while or because you have to, you need a revival. In some cases you may even become cold towards God. “He is minding His business and I am minding my own”. According to Revelation 3:15-17, the Bible says:

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot. I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:”

If any of these describes your situation, you need a revival.

HINDERANCE TO REVIVAL- WRONG FELLOWSHIP

The moment you decide that you need a revival, there are certain hinderances that will come up. The most important hindrance to revival is the wrong fellowship. According to Proverb 27;17, the Bible says “Iron sharpeneth Iron”. In other words, if you are living among those who are already backsliders, how will you know that you are a backslider yourself? In Eccl. 10:10, the Bible says, 2when iron is blunt, then there will be a problem because iron is supposed to sharpen iron and the people that are supposed to sharpen you are blunt themselves.

Proverbs 21:16 says that those who live among those who have gone from the path of truth are living in the congregation of the dead. If there is no revival in your congregation, everybody is lukewarm, if you are the only one who is slightly hot among them, very soon you are going to become cold yourself. If you take a piece of hot iron and you drop it in a bucket of cold water, the cold water will boil but what is going to happen to the iron? The iron will get cold because the water is absorbing the heat that the iron has, and very soon the iron and the water will become cold together.

DANGERS OF DELAYING REVIVAL

Now what is the danger of avoiding or delaying revival? If you don’t want personal revival quickly or you don’t want it at all, what is the danger? TOTAL DESTRUCTION.

“He that being often reproved hardened his neck shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy”

The Bible says the one who is often reproved, who hardens his neck, will perish suddenly. So if you feel today that you are not as hot as you used to be, you don’t worship the way you used to, you don’t study the Bible the way you used to, you do not pray the way you used to pray and there is no sign of revival even among the people you worship with, then you better do something about it and the solution is simple.

SOLUTION

  1. You better LISTEN to the voice of God according to Psalm 95:6-8. The Bible says “Today if you hear this voice, harden not your heart”.

2. REPENT promptly. If as the word is going out, you have heard that you need personal revival, you know that you are no longer where you should be, repent promptly like Peter did in Matthew 29:69-75. As soon as Peter discovered that he had denied his Master, he went out and wept bitterly. This was why he was restored.

3. You need to change the Fellowship where you are. If you are the hottest in the place and all the others are lukewarm, don’t let them kill you because Psalm 42:7 says “Deep calleth unto the deep”. It is only the deep that will call to the deep. When you see this brother is running, that sister is flying, and all of them are struggling for the best, then you will be compelled to follow their example. But if there are three of you in a car, the first one is snoring, the second one is dozing, and before you know it, you will be dozing also.

4. Go to God for renewal. When you have done all these, go to the Lord for the fire of revival. Revelations 3:18-19 says if you go to Him, he will revive you. He is willing to revive you.

Why don’t you go to Him now if you need revival, you don’t need to bother. But if you know you need revival, go to Him now.

Seek his face.

He will revive you.

Satan. RCCG SOD Year Six

Satan. RCCG SOD Year Six

We want to study our adversary, Satan. I am sure by now you know some of his names. His name is the devil. He is also called Beelzebub. He is called Belial, the adversary, the dragon, and the serpent—horrible names. If you do not remember all the names, it does not matter. Just remember the name Jesus.

You need to know your enemy to deal with him correctly.

Ephesians 2:2 calls him a prince, so you need to know who you are dealing with. He is a Prince.

In 2 Cor. 4:4, the Bible calls him good of the powers of the air. In other words, they also regard him a god in his own domain.

In 1 Peter 5:8, he pretends to be a lion. He likes to copy the Lion of Judah. He loves to roar, but he is not a lion;  he is only pretending to be one.

According to Daniel 14:12, His original name is Lucifer, which means the son of the morning.

In Ezekiel 28:11, the Bible calls him the anointed cherub that covereth. I know you learn this in Year 1, these are just revisions.

Then, in John 2:22 and John 8:14, the Bible calls him a liar.

So you see, when we have people worshipping what they call gods, they are not worshiping the Living God. You need to know that the devil is a god in his domain. I am sure if you get to the camp of Guru Marhji now, you will know the god there. If you get to the headquarters of Olumba Olumba Ombu, you will meet the little god there, too. There was once a Jesus of Oyiingbo who was also god in his domain.

Where is the devil right now? The Bible makes it clear that the devil is at liberty. He is free to roam about. According to Job 1:7 and Job 2:2, when God asked him, “Satan, where comest thou?” He said, ‘Oh, from going to and froin the earth and from walking up and down in it’.

Right now, according to Ephesians 2:2, his headquarters is in the air and that is one of the beautiful things ; that when Jesus returns, right there in the air at the headquarters of Satan, that is where they are going to spread the table for us who are his beloved children.

In Revelation 20:1-3, the Bible says that, one day, Satan will be chained for one thousand years but that day is yet to come. Today, he is not chained . He is moving about. But he can only be in one place at a time. In other words, he is not omnipresent and he is not omniscient and not omnipotent. Only Jesus is, and we give the glory to God for that.

SATAN’S KINGDOM

Now what about the kingdom of Satan? According to Ephesians 6:12, he has officers and administrators. He has people, he has agents all over, that are doing his work for him; prinicipalities, powers. rulers of wicked places in the world and spiritual wickedness. He has themall over and if you want to be sure, you can check them in Daniel 10:10-14. You will see that he has other princes controlling and rulers of the various nations.

THE DEVIL’S METHODS

According to 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, the Bible says:

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost; In whom the god of this world hath blindedthe minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ , who is the image of Goid should shine unto them”.

Satan devcieves unbelievers, he blindfolds them so that they will not be able to see the truth of the gospel.

#2 False Doctrine

According to 1 Tim. 4:1-2, the Biblke says:

“Now, the spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirit, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron:”

#3 False Prophets

According to 2 Peter 2:1-2, he has many teachers who are readyto teach these false doctrines. They preach all kinds of adulterated gospels so that unbelievers will not hear the truth.

WHAT DOE HE DO TO THE BELEIVERS

What then does Satan do to those who by the grace of God are true believers, like you and me, who by the grace of God have known the truth and the truth has made them free? In Revelations 12:10, he accuses us before God day and night. If we breath at all, he will report to God. If we are singing and sit down and we yawn, he will say, “Look at the fellow who is praising you”. Or maybe you are praying and you doze off, he will say” God, you see that fellow, he says he needs a miracles, he has no respect for you, look at him”. Satan is constantly doing this day and night. But thank God for Jesus Christ who is sitting at the right hand of the Father, constantly saying, “don’t mind him Daddy. When I was there on death as a human being, I knew what it is to be tired. I also fell asleep in a boat”.

Thank God for Jesus.

And then in 1 Peter 5:8, the Biblke says the devil is always looking for whom he may devour. That is why you must never leave a crack in your armour, because the elders say, that if there is no crack in a wall, the lizard will not be able to enter. So, don’t let there be a crack in your armour because the devil is seek you to destroyyou and he will fail in Jesus name.

Also in 2 Cor. 1:13, the Bible says the devil is always trying to lead people astray even as he led Eve astray, and I pray that he will not succeed in leading you astray.

His Doom

What is the plan of God for Satan’s life? The doom of Satan is predicted in the scriptures. The word of God that is forever settled says in Revelations 12:9-12that the doom of Satan is sealed by the blood of the Lamb. “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb” and even though we cannot bind him, like I told you earlier; the Biblke says in Revelations 20:1-3, that one day, an angel is going to come down from heaven and bind him, put him in prisonfor one thousand years, but in the meantime,we can resist the devil. The Bible says if we submit ourselves unto God and we resist the devil, he will run from us. He will run as in terror.

In Matt. 25:41, the Bible tells us that the final abode of Satan is the everlasting fireand I amsure you will not go there with him. That is why I am asking you now to go to God in prayernot only now but regularlyand say:

FATHER I SUBMIT MYSELF TO YOU NOW. I RESIST THE DEVIL IN EVERY AREA OF MY LIFE AND I DECREE , DEVIL YOU STAY IN YOUR PLACE . DONT EVER COME NEAR ME IN JESUS NAME.

Talk to the Lord now.

How To Be Continually Charged. RCCG SOD Year Six

How To Be Continually Charged. RCCG SOD Year Six

In SA7, we have advised you to keep your battery charged> How do we do this? By not allowing it to run down.

There are two ways to run down a battery.  One is inactivity. The second way is by using it without recharging it.

#1 Inactivity

Everybody knows that if you have a battery on the ground, without being used for a long time, it is going to run down. That is true of the physical is also true of the spiritual. No matter how well charged your battery is, if you don’t use it to do something, it will run down.

It does not matter the gift of God in you, if you don’t use the gifts, they will run down. That is why Paul said in 1 Timothy 4:14 “Neglect not the gift of God that is in thee”.

in 2 Timothy 1:6 he reminded Timothy again when he said “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir of the gift of God which is in thee by putting on of my hands”

He said do not let the gift of God in you remain idle.

Remember the story of the talents, somebody got five talents, another two and the third one got two talents.  The one that got five used his own and it became ten. The one who got two used his and it became four. The one who got one did not use his own and it became zero because it was taken from him. When you have the gifts of God in you, one way of keeping the battery hot is by suing the gifts constantly.

#2 Use Without Recharging

Another way of running down a battery is by continuous use without recharge. No matter how well charged the battery is, if you use it and you don’t recharge it, it is going to run down.

Type of Spiritual Activities

There are two types of spiritual activities. There are the spiritual activities that use up energy and there are those that generate energy.

Spiritual Activities that use up energy

#1 Healing

If you lay hands on the sick and they got healed, some of your energies will be used up.

In Mark 5:25-31, Jesus noticed that:

“Virtue has gone out of him”.

That is when the woman with the issue of blood touched his garment. He knew that virtue had gone out of Him. This means that some spiritual energy was used up in healing the woman.

#2  Casting out Demons

When you cast out demons, you use up spiritual energy. According to Zechariah 4:6-7, the Bible says:

“…not by power nor by might but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. This mountain shall be removed”.

Demons are mountains to some people. It takes spiritual energy to move mountains.

#3 Witnessing

When you go witnessing, you use up spiritual energy. According to Acts 1:8, the Bible says:

“Ye shall receive power, after the Holy Ghost is come upon you, then you shall be witnesses unto me”.

So you need power to witness.  You use up power to heal and you use up power to cast out demons.

Spiritual Activities that generates Power

There are some spiritual activities that generate power. In 1 Thess. 5:19, you can see a list of activities that generate energy. It says:
“Rejoice forevermore;

Pray without ceasing;

In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Quench not the Spirit”.

#1 Prayer

Rejoicing, praying without ceasing, giving thanks, praying in the spirit generates energy.  In fact, in Jude verse 20, the Bible says you should build up yourself in the most holy faith as you pray in the Holy Ghost.

#2 Fasting

Fasting also creates spiritual energy. The body may be weak but the spirit will be strong.  That is why the Bible say in 1 Cor. 7:5, Paul talks about himself, he says, he is watching and fasting often.  In 2 Cor. 11:27, Paul, a man that was mightily used of God said, I fast often”. You better learn from Him.

#3 Bible Study

Bible study is another way of generating spiritual energy.  Remember in Hebrews 4:12, the word of God says, “The Word of God is quick and powerful”.

The word of God is quick and full of power. Jesus says in John 6:63, My words are Spirit and Life. When you study the Word of God, you assimilate life.

#4 Worship

When you begin to worship God,  you generate spiritual power.  In Isaiah 40:29-31, the Bible , talking about the Almighty God says:

“He giveth power to the faint and to them that he hath no might, he increased strength.  Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly weary”.

In other words, if you learn to wait upon the Lord in worship, while others are failing and falling, your own strength will be renewed.

In 2 Kings 3:15, Elisha said,

“…bring me a minstrel…”

And when the minstrel came, they began to worship God, they began to praise God. The bible says the Hand of God came upon Elisha, and I am telling you when God lays His hands on you, power will be released upon you because Psalm 22:3 says,

“God inhabits the praise of his people”.

And so when God is present, there can be no lack of power.

That is why in Mark6:30-32, when the disciples returned after they had gone out to cast out demons and to heal the sick, to cleanse lepers, after using up tremendous energy, Jesus Christ said unto them, come ye apart and recharge so that you can go forth and do more.

So, how do we recharge?  By prayer, Thanksgiving, Praying in tongues, Bible Study and worship. If you do all these, the power will keep on increasing. You will keep on moving forward, from strength to strength, mounting up with wings like eagles, so you will run and will not faint.

Talk to the Lord now.

Spend some time praising Him.

Recharge your battery and God will bless you as you do so.

Compassion: The Key To Working Miracles. RCCG SOD Year 6

What Exactly is COMPASSION?

COMPASSION is mercy in action, a kind of kinetic energy, a moving propelling force that causes the one so moved to help the needy. And you will discover that all the major miracles of our LORD Jesus were brought forth by compassion. Psalms 145:8-9 says that God is good to us because of His compassion.  And then when you look at almost all the healings of our Lord Jesus Christ, He healed people because of compassion.

Examples:

1.  In Matthew 9:35-36, the Bible says He saw the multitude, had compassion on them, and healed their sickness.

2.  In Matthew 20: 29-34, when the blind man came unto Him, the Bible says He had compassion on him and opened his eyes. Through compassion He brought forth the power that could open blind eyes.

3. In Mark 1:40-42, when the leper came to Him and said, “Well, it’s up to you if You will heal me but I know you can do it though I am not sure You will be willing”. The Bible records it for us that Jesus had compassion for him. May He have compassion on you today in Jesus’ name. Jesus had compassion for the leper and cleansed him of leprosy.

4. In Mark 5:1-9, we have the story of the madman of Gadara who had a legion of demons in him and he was living in a tomb. They would bind him with chains and he would break the chains. Nobody could move near him but when he saw Jesus coming, he ran , fell at his feet and worshipped Him. Jesus had compassion on Him and delivered him.

5. In Luke 8:41-42, 49-56, we have examples of Jairus, who had only one daughter and the devil went into that house and snatched that one daughter. Jesus had compassion on Jairus and brought that girl back to life.

6. In John 11:32-35, we saw Jesus Christ weeping open;y at the burial ground of Lazarus. The compassion was so great . He could not hide it and it was that same compassion that brought Lazarus back to life.

7. In Mark 8:1-9, Jesus fed the multitude out of compassion.

So you can see that all the miracles of our Lord Jesus Christ : healing, cleansing, opening blind eyes, raising the dead, feeding the hungry , all came out of compassion.

Consequently as disciples, we must follow our leaderin this respect also. We must also have compassion because 1 John 2:6 says:

“He that said he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked”.

WE ARE TO WALK AS HE WALKED

i. We must walk in compassion. In fact in Hebrews5:1-2, you will discover that one of the basic qualification of a high priest is compasssion. In other words, anyone who is not compassionate will not even be made a high priest.

ii. In Luke 10: 30-37, in the story of the good Samaritan, God is showing us that a heathen who is compassionate is better than a priest or a levite who has no compassion.

HOW TO BECOME COMPASSIONATE

Now how can we be compassionate? Unless we are compassionate, the gift of the working of miracles will not be given to us. There is only one way we can become compassionate as Jesus Christand this can be found in Ezekiel 36:26, which says:

“A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will i put within you and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh and I will give you an heart of flesh”

God promised us he will remove the stony heart out of our flesh and give us the heart of flesh becuase the heart we were born with , the Bible says, is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. Jeremiah 17:9.

It is possible for our old heart to be wicked. Unless that heart is changed, unless you get a heart of lfesh, it would not be possible to be as compassionate as our Lord Jesus Christ. In other words, we must ask God for the heart of Jesus, and before you ask for the heart of Jesus, remeber that one of the Names of Jesus Christ is written in Isaiah 53:3-5. One of the titles of the Lord Jesus Christ is a Man of Sorrows . If you ask for this heart of flesh, it is another way of getting sancrified.

If God looks into your heart and He sees a heart of flesh, that heart of stone has been replaced, that you are now a compassionate person, then when you see people who are weeping , you will weep with them, then He will make the gift of the working of miracles available to you because that is the only way the gift will be correctly used.

There was a man in those days who was supposed to be very good at dealing with broken bones. He was famous for being an orthopaedic doctor but he had no compassion at all. When somebody had a motor accident and his leg is broken, he would tell the family to bring money and if they had no moneyand started t0o beg him, he would bring out an axe and threaten to cut the leg. That  is not the kind of man God would give the gift of working of miracles.

Are you interested in working miracles for God? Go to God and ask him for a heart of flesh.

Ask him for the ability to be compassionate.

RCCG SOD Year Six. The Disciples and Mountains

RCCG SOD Year Six. The Disciples and Mountains

Many believe that every mountain we come across must be removed, because of Mark 11:23-24, which says: “If you have faith and you doubt not, speak to the mountain and say mountain, be thou removed, be cast into the sea and it shall obey you”.

But that is good, it is the Word of God but as disciples in Year 6, you need to know things that the children don’t know because there are mountains and all mountains have their usefulness. Some mountains are for climbing, some mountains are for sitting upon. Some mountains draw you nearer to God. You remember Jesus Christ said in this world, you will have tribulations, He said:

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulations, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world”- John 16:33.

The word of God says,

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all”. Psalm 34:19.

So for genuine Christianity, everything is not always bread and butter. There are some wars that we have to fight but for every war we fight, God has a purpose. When you are born again, the difference between you and sinners is that for sinners, when their problem comes, when their mountain comes, they are completely devastated but for us who are born again, our victory is certain. In fact for every mountain that comes our way, we know that one way or the other, we will reach the top.

Some People that sat On Mountains and what happens to them on the Mountain Top

#1 Abraham

You will remember in Genesis 22:1-8, God ordered Abraham to go to the Mountain top, to go and do what? TO go and sacrifice his only begotten son. Abraham climbed this mountain and when he got there, he met blessings, tremendous blessings that many of us are still enjoying today.

What happened to Abraham on the mountain?

i. Total Surrender

He surrendered his only begotten son to be slaughtered to God. The mountain allows us to demonstrate our absolute surrender to the will of God. When problems come, mighty problems, we will then be able to find out whether we are one hundred percent for God or not. Many people when real mountains come, run to places they thought they would never go again. But those who surrendered to God completely always say,

“Even though He slay me, I will trust Him”.

ii. Miracle of Supply

On that same mountain, Abraham met a miracle of supply and deliverance, because there, God provided a ram for sacrifice and He provided deliverance for Abraham, deliverance from loss because he would have lost his son but God delivered him from death. This means that mountains give us opportunities to receive miracles, miracles of divine deliverance.

iii. Total blessings

The kind of blessings he had not received before, he got on the mountain top. It is there that God said, “I swear by myself because there is nobody higher than me to swear by”. He said, “In blessings, I will bless you, I will bless your children. I will bless your seed after you”.

You see, God gives opportunities for blessings in the form of mountains. There are some problems, which if solved by another person for you, may rob you of your blessings.

2. Moses

In Exodus 19:20, God called Moses to the Mountaintop. When he got there, God told him to fast for forty days and forty nights. He told the other people to stay away and they stayed in the valley. It was Moses alone who went to the mountain. Moses received a lot of blessings on the mountaintop, as follows:

I. Total sanctification

He got total sanctification. The mountain gives us opportunities for total separation from God and total separation from evil, which is sanctification. Many of us don’t pray hard unless a problem comes. If your child will not sleep because of serious sickness and you have no car, no phone to call the doctor, you don’t even have the money to hire a taxi, you will pray all night, all night long. Not only will God heal your son, but you will also develop spiritually. Believe me honestly, during those forty days that Moses was on the mountain, you can be sure he did not sin.

If you are fasting for forty days, for mountains to be moved out of your life, there will be no sin at all. There is the story of a brother who was asked to fast for three days so that he would not get into trouble. He said, “You want to commit murder?” Then the civil war came. He ran home and then two armies were converging on his village, and he ran into a trench where one soldier had just vacated. He was there for seven days as bullets were flying over his head. He could not even sleep not to talk of eating. During those seven days, I am sure he did not think of girlfriends. When he came out of the hole, he became a better Christian than ever before. Some mountains are sent to purify you.

ii. Mouth to mouth Discussion with God

On the mountaintop, Moses had a mouth-to-mouth discussion with God. In other words, mountains at times provide you with an opportunity to have intimate discussions with God. When there are no problems in your life you are asked to pray, and you only pray as the pastor directs, but when you face a big problem, even your sigh will be a prayer to God.

iii. Glorification

On the mountain, Moses was glorified because, by the time he came back, his face was shining like the sun. So some mountains bring the glory of God to the lives of believers. People see you and they say “Ah, we glorify God. How are you able to survive that? ” People will look at you and they will marvel.

iv. Visions

And when mountains come at times the invisible becomes visible because in Exodus 20:18: , the Bible say:

“The people saw lightning and thunder”.

We could see some lightning but do we see thunder? It is only on special occasions when something special is happening when there is a big mountain and you pray and you fast, you do night vigils and all kinds of praises; suddenly you begin to see visions of the other world, angels, visions of heaven. If you don’t know what am talking about, try it. Just try it, maybe for fourteen days without food at all, I can guarantee that you will see visions, glorious visions too. So you can see that mountains can be very useful.

#3 Moses

There is another instance in the life of Moses in Exodus 17:8-14 which says:

“Then came Amalek and fought with Israel in Rephidim. And Moses said unto Joshua, choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek; tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand.

So, Joshua did as Moses had said to Him, and fought with Amalek; and Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the Hill. And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed, and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

But Moses hands were heavy, and they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat thereon, and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.

And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. And the Lord said unto Moses. Write this for a memorial in a book and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven”.

Moses went to the mountain only when the Amalekites came, and they wanted to destroy the children of Israel. When the leader suddenly saw that everybody following him was about to be destroyed, he went up quickly to the top of the mountains.

Maybe you a father and suddenly, you see your children all perishing or you are a Pastor and you see your church dwindling or you are a businessman and thew work is going down in such a way that very soon all your employees will be gone. You are not to run. Climb the mountain.

When Moses got there, he lifted his two hands. Remember we said mountains give an opportunity for total surrender and because he lifted up his two hands, he received special anointing from God, that caused the battle below to be won. So, mountains give you an opportunity to surrender, opportunity to receive anointing, opportunity for absolute victory.

#4 Elijah

In 1 Kings 18:36-46, 1 Kings 19 and 2 Kings 1:1-12, here again and again, we find Elijah on the mountain top; Mount Carmel, Mount Horeb and other mountains. What is Elijah doing on the mountaintop? Why is this man always a man of the mountaintop?

I. Well in the first time, he challenged the 450 prophets of Baal. Mountain gives you an opportunity to demonstrate the power of your God and how much faith you have in your Almighty God and of cource your surrender to His will. If God has failed Elijah that day, Elijah would have died. Glory be to God who never fails.

II. Each time he was on the mountaintop, he kept on calling fire down from heaven. The mountain allows answered prayers. Then again he called down rain from heaven. The mountain gives an opportunity for showers of blessing.

III. He wiped out the prophets of Baal. In other words, the mountain gives you the opportunity for victory. Victory over sin, victory over demons and victory over agents of the devil. And right there on the mountain, because Elijah called down fire from heaven, a whole nation bowed down to God. There was a great revival, so mountains allow a great revival to a person. Maybe you are facing a big problem now, God is saying you are sleeping, wake up my son, wake up my daughter. The problem will not overcome you; you are going to overcome and then you will be revived. And because of the victory God will give you, because of your testimonies, several people will come to your God.

IV. When Elisha was coming down from Mount Carmel, he had supernatural powers and supernatural strength and he was able to run faster than a chariot drawn by horses. Why? Because a mountain top allows you to wait upon God and the Bible says,

“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength”

5. Elisha

In 2 Kings 4:1-27, when the son of the Shunamite woman died and she wanted to go and look for Elisha, she headed for the mountain. She knew that Elisha would not be found in the valley.

She said, “I know where to find him”. She went to the mountaintop and when he followed her down, the dead child came back to life. Mountain makes men vessels unto honour. In other words, the bigger the problem you are facing, the bigger the vessel unto honour you are going to become at the end of it all.

#6 Deborah

We have been mentioning men. Let us mention a woman; Deborah in Judges Chapter 4. (Read the whole story, its a beautiful story). God wanted the children of Israel to go to war against their enemies but there was no man willing to lead them, so God called Deborah and she said she would go.

When they got to the battlefield, God told Deborah to tell the children of Israel to stay on the mountaintop and to allow their enemies to remain in the valley below. And the enemies were wondering, “Aren’t these people foolish standing on the mountain where we could see them clearly, where we can get them with arrows?” But they did not know what God wanted to do. Very soon there was a thunderstorm that brought a great rain and very soon the valley was full of water and the water swept away the enemy of the people. You see mountains are for victors. When you have mountains, know that God is saying you are a victor.

#7 The Lord Jesus Christ

“And after six days, Jesus taketh Peter. James and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, and was transformed before them, and his face did shine as the sun, and his rainment was as white as light.

And behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elijah talking with him.

Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord it is good for us to be here: If thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles: one for thee, and one for Moses and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased, hear ye him.”

The Lord took three people to the mountaintop when he was to be transfigured before them. Why? Because mountains are for selected people, people of the inner circle of God. It is on the mountain of God that you see the transformation and the glory of God.

So when you see mountains, don’t feel sad. Rather, feel happy and before you begin to command the mountain to move you better check, may be God wants you to climb the mountain, maybe He wants to talk to you over there, maybe amid the problem, the glory of God is going to be revealed in your life.

Whenever you come across a mountain, ask God what He wants you to do with the mountain. When he says climb, then ask Him for grace and I can assure you, He will give you the race to climb. But at times He will just give you wings to fly like an eagle.

So today, I want you to talk to God and say:

FATHER, FROM NOW ON, GIVE ME THE GRACE TO BE ABLE TO DISCERN, WHICH MOUNTAIN TO REMOVE, WHICH MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB, WHICH MOUNTAIN TO FLY OVER AND I WILL DO YOUR WILL.

Talk to him now.

He will hear you and He will bless you.

RCCG SOD Year Six: Preparing For Miracles

RCCG SOD Year Six: Preparing For Miracles

The human flesh is like rubber. If you keep it too long near fire, it will begin to melt. That is why when God gives anointing to people, he makes it in small doses so that the body will not just dissolve. I remember one night when I ministered all night during the convention under very high anointing. Throughout the following day, my body was like rubber. I could not even get up from bed. It was only towards the evening time when it was time for Holy Communion that I was able to manage to get out of bed.

How To Charge Your Spiritual Battery

When you are charging a battery n preparation for use, it has to stay in one place apparently out of action for a period of time but its connected to electricity and it is being charged. Anybody looking at the battery will say it is idle but it is being loaded with power.

Now if it does not stay long enough, when you put it into use, it will not even function. Alternatively, it may run down quickly. So when God wants to use a man or a person for a miraculous ministry, He will take him apart for battery charging. He will take him away from where people will see him and charge him.

Examples

#1 Moses

Because God wanted to use him for forty years, He took him aside for forty years. According to Exodus 3:1, God put Moses in the backside of the desert for forty years.

#2 Elijah

Because God wanted to use this man to bring down fire from Heaven, to call down rain and raise the dead, He isolated him beside a brook for several months, according to 1Kings 17:1-7, And again after that, He locked him up in the house of a widow for years, according to 1 Kings 17:8-15.

And then you will remember the time when he was calling down fire on soldiers in 2 Kings 1:1-15, He was on the hilltop. What was he doing there? He was recharging his battery.

#3 Elisha

In 2 Kings 4:25-27, he was on the hilltop before he raised the dead son of the Shunamite woman. What was he doing there? He was charging his battery.

#4 Lord Jesus

  1. Our great example is the Lord Jesus himself. If you read Mathew 4:1-11. before he began His Ministry at all, He was in the wilderness for forty days and forty nights.

Fasting and praying for forty days and forty nights, alone in the wilderness, charging His battery.

What was the result? Luke 4:14 says:

“And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee, and there went out a fame of Him through all the region round about”.

He had already charged His battery for forty days and forty nights so He returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee fully charged.

2. In Luke 6:12-13. Before He chose the twelve Apostles, He prayed all night. All night He was charging His battery. Even after the forty days of charging in the wilderness, He fasted and prayed again throughout the night before He chose those who were going to assist Him.

3. If we look at Matthew 14:13-21 before Jesus Christ fed those five thousand people, He had gone to a deserted place to recharge. You will see some men of God performing miracles and you say, I also want to do this. Do you know what they have done in secret? You might say, “Ah, how come he just prayed for one minute and miracles are happening? He waved his hands and so many people were healed”. What about the secret work he has done? What about the time he spent charging his battery?

4. In Matthew 14:22-36. the Bible tells us, athat s soon as He fed those five thousand, He told His disciples “You get into a boat and begin to go”. And where did He go? He went alone to the mountaintop. He knew He had used part of his battery to multiply the loaves of bread and fish. He went to the mountain again to recharge. The Bible says that He was all the time praying when all the boats left. He was there charging His battery and when the battery was fully charged, He came down and He was able to work on water. When He arrived on the other side, he started healing multitudes, setting captives free, because He had first of all gone to the mountain to recharge.

5. In Mark 1:35-39, before the Ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ spread through Galilee, He first went to a solitary place to recharge.

6. He also recharged hen He was about to go to the Cross in Luke 9: 29-31, He saw the death that was coming very soon and He must die in order to save our souls. This was the biggest part of His ministry. What did he do? He went alone to the mountain to pray and to recharge.

7. In Matthew 26:36-46, He knew that very soon Judas would arrive and there would be beating, there would be spitting, there would be crowns of thorns, there would be nailing on the cross. He found that this was going to make a lot of spiritual energy. What did he do? He went to the Garden of Gethsemane. He prayed the first time, then came to see the disciples but they were sleeping. He went back to recharge, came back again and saw them still sleeping. He said “I think I better recharge again” He recharged three times before He said “Well now I think am ready”.

Now brethren, according to John 5:30, Jesus said,

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just: because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me”.

Jesus said, “I, of my self, can do nothing”. That is our LORD Jesus saying unless He has the backing of His Father, unless His battery is charged by His father, He would not be able to do anything.

If that is true of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is true of you too as disciples. If the Almighty Jesus needed to recharge His battery again and again and again, what excuse will you have for not recharging your own again and again?

The Bible says the servant cannot be greater than His master. Will you begin to charge your battery now and do it everytime, because God is going to use you to work miracles and your battery will run down fast if you dont charge and recharge.

Go to the Lord now and do a little charging.

A Wholesome Christian Life. RCCG Sunday School Teachers

RCCG Sunday School Teacher Manual 17 November 2024 Lesson 12 – A Wholesome Christian Life

OPENING PRAYER: Father, give me an understanding of a perfect Christian life.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The teacher should review the previous week’s lesson.

MEMORY VERSE: “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” – 3 John 2 (KJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Thessalonians 5:21-23 (KJV)

22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Some Christians have grown with the idea that it is better to focus on spiritual life than anything else in this world since it is the soul that journeys to eternity. This belief has made them concentrate more on spirituality at the expense of other functional aspects of their lives. However, the scripture makes it clear that we should live a balanced life (3 John 2). In this lesson, we shall consider some of the areas believers need to create a balance and the attendant benefits.

LESSON AIM: To teach the church about a wholesome Christian life.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: Through the lesson, students should be able to:

  • Understand what a wholesome Christian life is.
  • Know its basics.
  • Understand its benefits.

TEACHING PLAN: To achieve the above-stated objectives, teachers should:

a. Allow the students to read  the Bible passage, recite the memory verse, participate in the class activities and do the assignment.

b. Allow the Assistant teacher to conduct the class, mark attendance and assignment, grade performance and close the class session with the closing prayer.

c. Lead the opening prayer, review the previous week’s lesson, teach the lesson outline, summarize, conclude, evaluate the lesson and give assignments to the students.

TEXT REVIEW: 1 Thessalonians 5:21-23.

To live a wholesome Christian life, the Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Thessalonians:

A. Admonishes believers to:

i. Prove all things; …………………….. ..V21.

ii. …………….………………………………………V22.

B. He prayed that

i. ……………………………………………….. ……V23a.

ii. ………………………………………………..V23b.

LESSON OUTLINES:

  1. THE FOUNDATION
  2. THE BENEFITS

1. THE FOUNDATION

Our faith in God should be demonstrated in the following ways, among others:

  1. Willingness to obey His word totally (Proverbs 3:5-7).
  2. Family and relationships are vital and should be cherished. Therefore, make good and godly friends (Proverbs 17:17).
  3. The people in our lives and relationships are important: they should be valued and esteemed appropriately (1 Timothy 5:8; Galatians 6:10; Proverbs 18:24a).
  4. Being a good steward over our finances takes a lot of discipline (Luke 16:10-12).
  5. Living beyond our means, amassing material possessions, and accumulating irresponsible debt is unwise (Proverbs 22:7).
  6. Keeping our bodies healthy by eating a balanced diet, regular exercises, and maintaining personal and environmental hygiene are part of the life God calls us to (1 Corinthians 10:31; 1 Timothy 4:8a).
  7. It is important to aspire to reach the top in our careers and be the best in what we do (Proverbs 12:24).
  8. Avoid depression, socialize and be happy (Proverbs 17:22).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Share with the class what you have not been doing that you will do going forward to live a better Christian life.

2. THE BENEFITS

  1. Exercising faith in God will bring peace and confidence to weather the storms of life (Isaiah 26:3; Psalm 56:11).
  2. We will grow and mature spiritually to please God and live victoriously (Proverbs 16:7).
  3. Spending quality time with family and friends will create a bond and a support base for us (Psalm 133:1-3).
  4. Financial stability is a defence (Ecclesiastes 7:12a): it helps us avoid unnecessary tension.
  5. Adherence to healthy living enhances longevity and prosperity (Job 36:11; Proverbs 23:21).
  6. Fulfilment and greater influence come from reaching the peak in our chosen career; we will also be a blessing to many (Genesis 41:40-41; 45:5).
  7. Being the best in what we do makes us sought after (Proverbs 22:29).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Students should prayerfully consider a mentor who is living a wholesome Christian life and learn from the person as they learn from Christ.

CONCLUSION: Wholesome living should be the pursuit of every believer. Live a balanced life.

QUESTIONS:

  1. In what five ways should believers build a wholesome life?
  2. Identify four benefits of wholesome Christian living.

EVALUATION: Students should prayerfully consider a mentor who is living a wholesome Christian life and learn from the person as they learn from Christ.

CLOSING PRAYER: I declare that I live a wholesome Christian life in the mighty name of Jesus.

ASSIGNMENT: Write out five basics of a wholesome Christian life. (2×5=10 marks).

The Cost Of Discipleship. RCCG Sunday School Teachers

OPENING PRAYER: Father, let me understand what it takes to be a Disciple.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The teacher should allow the Assistant teacher to review the lesson for the previous week.

MEMORY VERSE: “He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.” – 1 John 2:6. (KJV)

 BIBLE PASSAGE: Luke 9:57-62 (KJV)

57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: The term “disciple” originally meant a pupil or an apprentice to a teacher or master craftsman. It is another word for a follower of Christ, one who is learning to be like his Master (Matthew 16:24; 1 Peter 2:21-22). Discipline is the quality of being able to behave and work in a controlled way which involves obeying specific rules. We shall examine what a disciple’s attitude to sin should be and the key disciplines of true disciples.

LESSON AIM: To teach believers what it costs to be a disciple.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the study, students should be able to:

TEACHING PLAN: To achieve the above-stated objectives, the teacher should:

a. Allow the students to recite the memory verse, read  the Bible passage, contribute to the discussion, and do class activities and assignments.

b. Allow the Assistant Teacher to see to the well-being of the class, and mark attendance and assignment.

c. Teach the lesson outline, summarize, conclude, evaluate the lesson and give assignments.

TEXT REVIEW: Luke 9:57-62.

A. The Lord Jesus recounts the cost of discipleship (because many love to follow Him but are not ready to pay the price).

i. It happened that as they were going in the way, he came to Him and said he would follow Him wherever He went V57.

ii. And Jesus said ………………………………V58.

iii. And he says to another …………………V59.

iv. Jesus saith unto him ……….…………..V60.

v. And another also said ……………………V61.

vi. Jesus then said to Him ……..…………V62.

LESSON OUTLINES:

  1. A DISCIPLE’S ATTRIBUTE
  2. KEY DISCIPLINES

1. A DISCIPLE’S ATTRIBUTE

  1. The starting point in following Jesus’ exemplary life is the forgiveness of sin and reconciliation with God through Jesus’ death.
  2. Then, a disciple of Jesus enters a life-long learning process to live the same life as Jesus lived (Luke 6:40). Just as their Master, the disciples of Christ must:

i. Commit to doing all of God’s will while giving up their own will (Luke 22:42);

ii. Live a sin-free life and overcome lust (Galatians 5:24); be willing to suffer (Philippians 1:29);

iii. Love unconditionally in the face of adversity (Matthew 5:43-45);

iv. Be diligent and zealous for the things of God (Hebrews 6:10-11);

v. Have a burden for soul winning (Acts 4:16-20);

vi. Live sacrificially (2 Corinthians 12:15);

vii. Remain humble and obedient (Philippians 2:5-8).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: What other attributes do you think a disciple should have?

2. KEY DISCIPLINES

Anyone who will follow the examples of Jesus successfully must be disciplined because discipline is the hallmark of success. Some of the key disciplines every disciple of Christ must have are:

  1. Purposefulness: Concentration is the secret of power. The first discipline of discipleship is to be purposeful, determined, single-minded, and focused in the pursuit of the Lord and His kingdom (Philippians 3:13; Matthew 6:24).
  2. Perseverance: Like our Master, Jesus; Disciples must stay focused on the task and avoid distractions. Be persistent in proclaiming the word at all times, and avoid discouragement (Matthew 10:22-23).
  3. Promptness: The ability not to put off for tomorrow what must be done today is a great gift to be sought from God. It is the gift to joyfully run to what God instructs without delay. There is a peril in procrastination (Psalm 95:6-8; Proverbs 27:1).
  4. Permanence: When we accepted Christ, there were some things we used to do that we have no business doing now. Things like: harmful habits, ruinous relationships, perilous pleasures, etc. We need to give up our former ways and not look back (Hebrews 12:1-2; Luke 9:58-62).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention additional key disciplines of a disciple.

CONCLUSION: The role of every disciple is to stay committed and true to the Master. This will lead to great success.

QUESTIONS:

  1. Mention three attributes of a disciple.
  2. What are the key disciplines of a disciple?

EVALUATION: Students should mention three attributes of a disciple.

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, please keep me as Your true disciple till the end.

ASSIGNMENT: Mention five benefits of discipline (2×5=10 Marks).
