The Disciple as an Eagle. Part Three. RCCG SOD Year 9.

The Disciple as an Eagle. Part Three.

We want to look at the golden eagle and the royal eagle together. A poor king is not a king. He cannot call himself the head when he does not have the money to use as a defence. A rich man can use money to belittle the poor king. The Almighty God has designed that you will be the head that nothing can humiliate. This is why God made a promise concerning Deut. 28:12 that,

“The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand; and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow”.

THINGS THAT MUST NOT HAVE DOMINION OVER YOU

As a spiritual eagle, there are some things that must not have dominion over you.

#1 Poverty

That you will never borrow means poverty shall have no dominion over you. The eagle is the king of birds, and it has dominion over other birds. No bird has dominion over the eagle. That is why poverty must have no dominion over you as a disciple. Your prosperity is not going to come from borrowing.

In Deuteronomy 28:11, the Bible says that,

“The Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body and the fruit of thy cattle and the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord swore unto thy fathers to give thee”.

While the Bible says, The Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, let us ask ourselves the question, what is the meaning of ‘plenty’? It means something that is not easy to count. If it is something you can count quickly, you say five, six or ten, but when it is not easy to count, then you call it plenty. And the Lord is saying He will make you plenteous in goods. But you see, God will wait for you to determine that, as from now, you are tired of poverty. And then you will decree that from now on, I want to cross the border of poverty into prosperity forever, because as a King, poverty shall have no dominion over you.

#2 Sickness

Sickness is another thing that should not have dominion over you. As you study the eagle, you will find that it is very difficult to find a sick eagle, meaning what? Sickness, disease shall have no dominion over you as a disciple of Christ. Because in 1 Peter 2:24, the Bible made it clear that you were healed by the stripes of Jesus. “You were healed” means that God has already settled the question of your healing. It means sickness shall have no dominion over you. This does not mean that sickness will not show its face, but what it is saying is that it is you who will dominate the sickness or disease. You are the one who would tell sickness and disease, “you are not going to stay in my body”. You will decree against sickness and disease.

#3 Evil Forces

Another thing that will not have dominion over you as a king, as a disciple of God and as an eagle of God, are evil forces. No evil force shall have dominion over you because, according to Isaiah 54:17, the Bible says,

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against thee in judgement, thou shalt condemn…”

He did not say that the enemy will not try; they will try to attack, but what he is saying is that you will decree their defeat. He did not say that they would not fight against you, but that you would win because you were a king. His king, the king that He appointed.

#4 The enemies

In Isaiah 41:10-13, the Almighty God has some very beautiful words of encouragement for those of us who are his disciples. He says,

“Fear not. for I am with thee, Be not dismayed, I am thy God. I will strengthen thee. Yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded, they shall be as nothing. And they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and thou shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee. They that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. For the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not, I will help thee.”

In other words, the passage tells us clearly that enemies shall have no dominion over you. He said they come to fight, but you will even seek them, you will not find them because God would have taken care of the situation. Enemies shall have no dominion over you, and poverty shall have no dominion over you.

#5 Sorrow

We said earlier that the eagle knows how to be strong. Why? It is because it is always rejoicing. The eagle is always laughing. And what does this tells you? It means that sorrow shall have no dominion over you.

Philippians 4:4 says.

“Rejoice in the LORD always, and again I say rejoice”

For how long are you to rejoice as a disciple? It is not for one day, it is not for one week. It is not when there is a promotion. He said rejoice in the Lord always, which means, whatever may be happening,  you are to keep on rejoicing, because sorrow shall have no dominion over you.

The eagle is always laughing. When there is a storm, it laughs. When there is a problem, it laughs. If any bird tries to compete with it, it laughs. And do you know one thing? When you begin to laugh at the devil, he leaves you alone. He hates to be ridiculed. SO, sorrow shall have no dominion over you.

#6 Sin

In Romans 6:12-14, we also discover another thing that will have no dominion over you. We said earlier that the eagle is pure and is telling you too that sin shall have no dominion over you.

The Bible says in the above scripture that,

“Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto God, as those that were alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not have dominion over you; ye are not under the law but under grace.”

Sin must not have dominion over a true disciple. I am sure you know that a holy man is not a man without temptation, but a holy man is a man who resists temptation. He is a man who is determined to live holy. A man who is determined that sin shall have no dominion over him. Some people are looking at you, ready to bring temptations your way. When they hear that, you talk about holiness, they look for a way of bringing you down. They say his secret will leak out one day. Well, there is only one secret of a disciple that will leak, that is, that Jesus Christ is our Supporter, that through Jesus we can do all things, that through Christ we can live a life of holiness, that sin has no dominion over us.

#7 Satan

The eagle has only one enemy, that is, the serpent. But as we will discover later on, it knows how to deal with the serpent. This means that even the serpent has not had dominion over the eagle. We all know what the serpent represents. It represents the devil. As a disciple, the devil will have no dominion over you. According to James 4:7, the Bible says,

“Submit yourselves therefore to God, Resist the devil and he will flee from you”.

If the devil is going to flee from you, that means he cannot dominate you. It means as an eagle, royal, golden and prosperous, the devil can have no dominion over you, because you have to be a ruler, powerful, strong with dominion, with authority backed by the Almighty God. Nothing should have dominion over you.

Poverty shall have no dominion over you. Sickness shall have no dominion over you. Evil forces shall have no dominion over you. Enemies shall have no dominion over you. Sorrow shall have no dominion over you. Evil, the devil self, shall have no dominion over you. Glory be to God forever.

Therefore, it is now up to you to decree sickness out of your body. Tell sickness, “You have no dominion over me, so get out”. It is your duty to decree sorrow out of your life, it is your duty to decree that all your enemies must scatter. You must decree that the devil should get out of your way, to put the devil where he belongs- under your feet.

As true eagles, begin to decree from now on, and the Almighty God will back you up.

Go ahead now. Talk to God and He will surprise you.
