Come to me and Rest. Jesus Says
🙏🏽 OPENING PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank You for a new day and a new week. As we gather to meditate on Your Word, quiet our hearts and teach us the power of resting in You. Open our eyes to see how deeply You care for us. Strengthen those who are weary. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
📖 SCRIPTURE READING:
Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
📌 UNDERSTANDING THE INVITATION:
Jesus doesn’t say, “Sort yourself out, then come.” He says, “Come as you are.” This is an open invitation to anyone carrying burdens:
➔ Burdens of sin
➔ Burdens of worry
➔ Burdens of past mistakes
➔ Burdens of life’s demands
Jesus calls us to Himself — not to a ritual, not to a religion, but to a relationship with Him.
💭 WHAT DOES “REST” MEAN HERE?
☑️ Peace with God — no longer enemies because of sin
☑️ Rest for the soul — freedom from anxiety, guilt, and shame
☑️ Restoration of strength — receiving grace to continue
☑️ Assurance of His presence — knowing you’re not alone
🌟 WHY WE NEED TO COME TO HIM:
⏩ The world offers temporary relief — Jesus offers lasting peace
⏩ Our own efforts will always fall short — Jesus’ sacrifice is enough
⏩ Carrying burdens alone leads to exhaustion — Jesus carries them with us
⏩ Coming to Him is an act of humility — admitting we can’t do it alone
🧠 WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO “COME” TO HIM?
🟢 Spending time in prayer, telling Him your struggles
🟢 Meditating on His promises in Scripture
🟢 Worshipping Him even when life feels heavy
🟢 Surrendering control instead of trying to fix everything yourself
🟢 Trusting His timing and His plan
💬 STORY:
A young woman was overwhelmed by work, bills, and family issues. Every night she cried herself to sleep, feeling alone. One evening, she opened her Bible and read Matthew 11:28. She prayed, “Jesus, I’m tired. I don’t know what to do anymore.”
That night, she slept peacefully for the first time in weeks. Over time, though her problems didn’t vanish instantly, she found strength and hope she couldn’t explain. The difference? She wasn’t carrying her burdens alone anymore — Jesus was with her.
🔥 KEY LESSONS:
✦ Rest is a person: Jesus.
✦ Rest is a promise: He will give it.
✦ Rest is a process: We come daily, not just once.
📜 PROPHETIC DECLARATION:
“I decree that every burden weighing you down shall be lifted in Jesus’ name. From today, you will experience the supernatural rest of God. Anxiety, fear, and weariness lose their hold over your life. Peace like a river flows into your heart now. Amen!”
🙏🏽 CLOSING PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the invitation to come to You. Teach us to lay down every burden at Your feet. Help us trust Your promise of rest. Remind us that You are always near. May our hearts find peace in You today and always. Amen.
