Posted on July 20, 2025July 24, 2025 by Adeniyi Salau

I hope your day has been meaningful, even if it was a little tough. Whether you smiled all day or dragged yourself through it, I want you to know that I’m thinking about you, I love you dearly , and I’m constantly praying for your strength and healing.

Tonight’s Word Starts with This Truth:

“You can cover a broken arm with a sleeve, but a broken spirit wears no bandage.”

Once upon a time, there was a young woman named Miriam. She was known for her radiant smile and bubbly laugh. People said, “She’s always happy!” But deep inside, she was a battlefield of pain. Years ago, she lost someone she loved deeply, and since then, she has never truly healed. She went to church, sang in the choir, and even encouraged others — but behind closed doors, she wept.
Not because she was weak, but because her spirit was wounded — and no one knew.

One day, she broke down and whispered, “I smile because I don’t want anyone to ask me what’s wrong. I don’t even know where to begin.”

So… what exactly is a wounded spirit?
A wounded spirit is an emotional injury to the soul.

It’s not a visible cut, but a deep internal pain — a heartbreak, a betrayal, a loss, an abuse, a trauma — that affects how someone sees themselves, others, and even God.
📖 Proverbs 18:14 (KJV) says:
“The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?”

 CAUSES OF A WOUNDED SPIRIT:

 Betrayal by someone trusted
 Loss of a loved one
 Verbal or emotional abuse
 Rejection or abandonment
 Lingering trauma or unresolved grief
💭 Constant negative words or shame from people
 Repeated failure or disappointment

 HOW IT AFFECTS SOMEONE

👤 Spiritually:

✔Feels distant from God
✔Struggles to pray or worship
✔Begins to question God’s love or existence
✔Feels condemned or unworthy

 Physically/Emotionally:

🔹️Chronic sadness or numbness
🔹️Emotional withdrawal from people
🔹️Can’t trust easily
🔹️Often misunderstood
🔹️Easily irritated or overly sensitive

 Relationally:

🔺️Pushes people away even when they want love
🔺️Feels insecure or unlovable
🔺️Always waiting for someone to hurt them again
🔺️May seem overly kind or overly harsh — nothing balanced

How to Recognise Someone With a Wounded Spirit:

▪️They often laugh to cover pain
▪️They isolate themselves
▪️They say “I’m fine” too quickly
▪️They struggle with low self-esteem
▪️They give a lot, but receive very little
▪️They overthink and over-apologise
▪️Sometimes, they “break down” unexpectedly

 #1  Acknowledge the Wound

You can’t heal what you hide. God can’t heal what you pretend is not broken.
 Psalm 34:18

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

#2 Run to God, not from Him

Cry if you must. Scream if needed. But always run to the Father.

#3 Talk to Someone Safe

Don’t suffer in silence. Speak to a spiritual mentor, counsellor, or true friend.
 James 5:16
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed…”

#4 Daily Devotion and Meditation

Speak life to yourself. The Word of God is medicine to the soul.

#5 Forgive – Not to Set Them Free, But to Set YOU Free

Unforgiveness keeps the wound open. Healing starts with letting go.

#6 Believe You’re Still Loved and Wanted

You are not your past. God still has a future for you.

LET US PRAY

Heavenly Father, tonight I lift up every soul with a wounded spirit. I speak healing over every deep hurt, trauma, and silent tear. May Your Holy Spirit reach where no human hand can reach. Let peace flow like a river. Restore trust, joy, and the desire to live fully again. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

 REMEMBER :
“You are not forgotten.
You are not invisible.
You are deeply loved — even in your brokenness.”

I’m thinking about you tonight.
I love you more than you know.
I’m praying for you – even when you can’t pray for yourself.
You’re not alone, and never will be.
