A Landing page is a web page that appears to the visitor after clicking the links in the search engine result page or any other traffic source outside the website. That tells you that you have to make sure that your content communicates the message that you are trying to pass across. You do not know the actual link that will generate traffics for your website.

 

 

Traffic sources that I am talking about might include Pay Per Click (PPPC Ads), search marketing campaigns, banner ads or sponsored graphics, links in an email, blog links or sidebars. It can also be pages that display information that is related to particular keyword research as well.

 

Please note that the main objective of a landing page is to convert visitors to customers. Therefore it must have the information that customers’ needs to decide whether they would like to go for a particular keyword or not.

 

Also, the landing page allows visitors to download content such as eBooks, whitepapers, webinars or signup forms for free trials or demos of your products.

 

We can also categorize landing pages into two types:

#1 Transactional Pages

This page encourages the customer to take some desired actions such as filling forms, interacting with objects on a page among others.

 

#2 Reference Page

This provides information such as text, images, graphics, sounds, and links among others to the visitor who has clicked on that link.

 

Also, you need to understand that pages that are indexed by Search Engines are also referred to as Landing Pages as well. Also, you need to understand that the more content that you have on your website, the more the possibility of your website being discovered on Search Engines.

 

Also, when you are setting up a landing page, you need to give appropriate keywords and phrases to show up your website in search engine results.

 

In addition, landing pages gives the visitors exactly what they are looking for when they enter your website and help the website owner to track their website performance. This will allow them to make all the necessary adjustments that they need to take in order for their website to perform better.

This will allow you to determine whether you should continue to run a particular campaign or you need to make adjustments to your campaigns. Also, you need to keep the information interesting, short and meaningful. You need to understand that every visitor wants a benefit after filling the download form for free download of whitepapers or tools.

 

You also need to ensure that information provided by you is worthy of customers.

By and large, you need to keep the information short with bullet points that highlight the offers. Highlighting the offer will allow your prospects to explicitly look at the offer one after the other and decide whether it is a product they would like to have or not. You also need to understand that, most times, customers might not have the time to read the entire content from the beginning to the end.

In my previous articles, I have also said that the landing page is the first page that you see when you come to a website. I also said the website should be designed in such a way that it can convert prospects to customers and increase the conversion rate on a website. Follow me as we are going to look at that together in this article. 

 

#1 Matching Ad copy

When you are creating your content, you need to ensure that the Ads you have created matches your landing page. You should not make any attempt to deceive your audience into clicking your ads. For example, if you advertised about cats, make sure that your landing page also talks about cats as well. This will boost the confidence of your audience in your content. 

 

#2 CTA Above the fold 

Your Call To Action is the step that you would like your audience to take after they might have read your content. You need to make sure that the CTA is displayed where the audience will not have to scroll down before they can see it. This will increase the conversion rate for the landing page. Also, as part of the measures to increase the conversion rate on your landing page, you need to make sure that there are no Tabs on the landing page.

 

Having Tabs on the website that leads to other pages on your website other than the sales page will distract your customers and reduce patronage from that landing page, You need to make sure that those Tabs are hidden so that customers can concentrate on the product that they would like to buy from your website.

 

#6 Concise content

It is also advisable that your content should be simple and straightforward. There is no need for you to be beating about the bush when you are trying to make sales. You should avoid using complicated languages and sentences. An average reader should be able to understand the message that you are trying to pass across to your target audience.

Also, when you are creating a landing page for your website you need to make sure that all pages and contents as well as paragraphs on the website aligned with one another. Putting a social sharing button on your landing page will also allow you to get new customers through existing customers. It is a cool way to reach a more target audience without breaking the bank.

Another factor that you need to consider when to comes to creating a landing page is to optimise your landing page for appropriate keywords. You need to ensure that you place a premium on search engine optimization when you are creating a landing page. With time, if you are consistent, it will be possible for you to be getting traffic to your landing page without much hassle. 

 

 

#12 Phone number and logo

There is a need for you to also add a phone number and logo to your landing page. This will definitely increase your branding identity. When your logo is added, it will leave a lasting impression in the mind of your audience.

 

There is a high tendency that such customers who do not buy your product knowledge will definitely come back and purchase your products and services at a future date.

The very first that you need to consider when you want to run a successful website is to have adequate planning. You need to consider the product that you intend to sell and how you intend to sell it. You need to consider the design of the website. Will your website be built inside or do you plan to use a third party? It is also important to consider the capital available to you to set up the site. All this will guide you to decide on what is and what will not be part of the website.

Will your website be built inside or do you plan to use a third party? It is also important to consider the capital available to you to set up the site. All this will guide you to decide on what is and what will not be part of the website.

 

 

#2 E-commerce template

The next step that you need to consider is to decide on where to buy your e-commerce template. Whichever way you have decided whether to buy your template in-house or to contract the design of your website to a third party, they will still need to buy a template.

 

 

These templates are sometimes modified in order to suit your needs. I can say that the amount you have will determine what type of template you can afford. You can also decide to start small and upgrade as soon as you start making money from your e-commerce website.

 

 

#3 Right domain name

It has happened to me before. There are many of us that concluded and we just jumped into choosing a domain name and we later regretted that we have not taken our time to think through it. You need to really take some thoughtful action when you are choosing your domain name.

 

 

The domain name can revolve around the product you sell and it can also revolve around the organization setting up the e-commerce website.

 

 

 A good example is the Amazon website. It revolves around the organization’s name and we all know Amazon has become a household name when it comes to building an e-commerce website. They are also leveraging that name to introduce other products and services as well.

I once organized a successful office launch for my company and I was busy looking for where I can accommodate participants that come from outside my state. A thought later came to my mind to host them in my house. But to my amazement, my house was rejected become of the problem of internet connectivity.

 

 

That is also what you need to consider as someone that wants to run an online business. You should choose a hosting company that is reputable and has at least 99 percent uptime.

You can allow your business to be ruined because the hosting company you have chosen cannot keep their server on or they have other issues that can threaten the existence of your website.

The next step that you need to take after you might have decided on the hosting company that you want to use is to actually develop your website and begin to plan how the actual commencement of the e-commerce will take place.

 

You can decide to do the development in-house or give it to a third party to help you out. This largely depends on whether you have the required expertise to guarantee that a good job will be done at the end of the day.

#2 Infomediary model

They collect the analysed information that helped consumers while considering a purchase. These are the kind of online business that writes about products and services which will allow the buyer to decide whether they actually want to go for that particular product or service. 

#3 Merchant model 

This is a platform or channel that allows buyers and sellers to sell products and services over the internet. It also creates a platform where organisations can pay for products and services over the internet. At times, using this platform, sellers can decide to relate with buyers directly as well. 

#4 Community model

In this type of model, a website or blog might be created for the sole purpose of building a membership base. In this kind of model, they are not really relying on guests who are coming to the website for the first time. They might actually have to sign up and pay a monthly or yearly subscription in order to access content on the website.
                    

#5 Manufacturing model

In the manufacturing model, a manufacturer might decide to reach the end-users directly without making use of middlemen. This might allow them to reduce bottlenecks that customers might be facing while trying to have access to their products or services.

#6 Affiliate model

This model offers financial incentives in the form of a percentage to partners who are going to assist the manufacturers in selling their products and services. This always reduces the cost of advertisements as the affiliate partner will now be the one marketing such products and services.

#7 Advertising model

The contents and services of This model are displayed along with advertising messages in the form of banner ads. In this model, manufacturers can approach bloggers who have ad slots and pay them to display their banner ads on such blogs based on agreed terms.

#8 Subscription model

Here, members on those platforms pay agreed fees in order to have access to quality content that is available on their particular blog or website.

#9 Utility model

Take, for example, the relationship between Jumia and DHL. DHL can assist Jumia in delivering products that are sold online to their doorsteps. This can help in increasing sales turnover for the online business.

 

#2 Business To Consumer 

We can also have businesses leveraging on the internet in order to serve their customers.

In this kind of business model, individuals might be asked to sign up in order to be able to buy products and services and get more from what the organisation has to offer.

A good example is e-commerce websites such as Jumia and Amazon where customers can visit and purchase products and services that they have for sale. 

#3 Consumer To Business 

This is another type of business model classification when it comes to e-commerce. Here, individuals can offer their services to businesses and get paid in return.

In this kind of platform, the customers always exchange old products in return for money. Take, for example, I have an old router that I want to sell. I can always upload it to a Consumer to Consumer platform and get paid for such products or services.

#3 From the 1990s

At this stage, e-commerce now included Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, data mining and data warehousing. This was when organisations such as Amazon, and Yahoo among others launched out.

#4 1998-2000

At this time, a substantial number of businesses around the world started embracing e-commerce. It was also around this time that Google came around and change the internet business landscape generally.

#5 2000-2002

This was the period that Wikipedia was launched. it was also the period that paypal.com came around as well. It marks the beginning of internet marketing.

#6 2002 onward

This was when mobile commerce and social commerce were launched. Now people can purchase products and services using mobile phones. It now becomes possible for people to purchase products and services through social media platforms.
