Devotion: Be Under His Authority
James 4:7 “Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Don’t undermine your resistance power as a Christian. The devil can flee, literally flee from you. He is not an all powerful devil.
How do you resist the devil? The Bible tells us that it’s through subjection to God. When we submit to God and His Word, we are positioning ourselves to resist the devil.
When you subject yourself under someone’s authority, then that authority gives you some power. When you are under authority of your leader, you take His Authority to make things happen.
One day a certain military official came to Jesus and expounded on the same principle. He said that HE WAS UNDER AUTHORITY and therefore HE WAS ABLE TO COMMAND OTHERS.
Luke7:8 “For I also am a man placed under authority, having under myself soldiers. I tell this one, ‘Go.’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come.’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
Be a servant of Jesus and exercise your authority as the Apostles did.
(Roman 1:1) “Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus…”.
(James 1:1) “James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ….”.
(2Peter 1:1) “Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, …..”
(Jud 1:1) “Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ…”
CONFESSION
I am subject to the authority of Jesus. I therefore resist the Devil and he flees from me always. In Jesus Name. Amen
