KNOW YOUR ENEMY Part 8

DEMONS have names. For example, they have names like pride, lust etc. Angels also have names. For example they bear Michael, Gabriel. Temperance, Mercy and Humility also could be names of angels.

When the devil knows you are a determined officer of Jesus, he will do all he could to get you out of battle field and thus defeat you.

He does this by setting a realm of demons against you: The four types of demons he commonly uses are

(1) Sorrow

(2) Discouragement

(3) Fear

(4) Suicide or Murder.

These are in ascending order as they are listed downwards.

HOW THEY OPERATE:

#1 Sorrow

It happens when there is a reversal of anything

good. It could be as a result of bad news, accusation etc. The devil knows you are a trinity and aware that you understand the word of God (1 Thessalonians 5:23).

He knows that out of spirit, soul and body, the spirit is the most important and without the spirit, man is of no use (Proverbs 18:141. He then attacks with sorrow.

The greatest weapon against the spirit is sorrow (Proverbs 15:13). When a man is sorrowful:

His vision becomes dim (both physically and spiritually) -Job 17:7

(i) The strength (physically and spiritually) is drained quickly -1 Samuel 30:1-4. When sorrow matures, it graduates into discouragement.

#2 Discouragement:

A sort of drowsiness both spiritual and physical and it stoops down. He looks at the problem instead of looking to the Author of his faith (Proverbs 12:25), Satan is a world champion in boxing (Luke 22:45). There are two things a Christian can do. That is, he can be fully awake and praying or be drowsy and sleeping.

#3 Fear:

Might have come because of sin when Satan begins to remind you of your former sins despite the power of Jesus. He might quote Isaiah 59:1 2.

If you want to pray, he will again remind you of Psalm 66:18. Then fear increases the more and You can’t pray. Then fear may lead to murder of suicide.

#4  Suicide or Murder:

If a person is a leader, the demon may start with his members against him and he becomes dead physically and spiritually (I Samuel 30:1-6; 1 Kings 19:1-4). Immediately after a great victory, the devil strikes.

HOW TO HANDLE SUCH A SITUATION

(1) Never take a decision when you are tired. As disciples, we must be strong soldiers. When someone gets a blow, it goes to the brain and you must take it easy and while lying low, start talking briefly to God until you overcome.

Remember God is nearer to you even than you think. Learn to ask questions like “What is happening, Father?” I Samuel 30:8; 1 Kings 19:5-8.

(2) Never retire but get ready to refire (I Samuel 30:10 ) As soon as you lie low, as a good boxer that receives a blow, hear from the Lord and begin to refire.

There must be occasion of battle lost but if we faint not and persist, at least angels will assist us to win. These angels are: (1) Comfort (ii) Hope (iii) Joy (iv) Strength (v) Courage and (vi) Faith.

These are in addition to the two already available, that is, Goodness and Mercy. It is angel Victory that announces the result.

In I Samuel 30:18-20, David became comforted, hopeful and more respected.
