Basic Concept Of Entrepreneurship

Understanding The Basic Concept Of Entrepreneurship

The word “entrepreneurship” is used to describe the creative, innovative, and risk-taking and organisational process and functions of individuals who initiate, run and nurture a business venture.

In this article, I want to talk about all that you need to know about the basic concept of Entrepreneurship.

The ultimate aim of such an individual is to receive the reward of resultant profit, independence, personal achievement and fame. However, there are risks which the venture of the entrepreneur must take.

These are business or financial losses as well as social, psychological and health-related risks.

Entrepreneurship also involves a strong initiative-taking ability to start something new, venture into new areas to take advantage of opportunities, continuous innovations, commercialization of new technology, and a strong managerial process.

An example of an entrepreneur is Ingvar Kamprad, founder of IKEA, a multinational company that makes first-class furniture. Others are Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Carol Slim Helm, and Aliko Dangote among others. These are individuals who achieve greatness through entrepreneurship.

There are many perspectives on the definition of entrepreneurship. Economists view entrepreneurship as the taking of risks in expectation of profit by combining factors of production or resources such as Land, labour, and capital in a way that produces something new with greater value or utility for the satisfaction of human wants.

To a management scientist, entrepreneurship is a creative, innovative, and strategic process of starting and revitalizing an organization and continuously improving its products and services.

It involves perceiving business opportunities and using available resources efficiently and effectively to achieve the goals and objectives of an organization.

To an accountant or financier, entrepreneurship is concerned with the activities of individuals with realistic business or investment ideas and is able to take advantage of investment opportunities that yield a high return on investment.

The majority of psychologists and sociologists see entrepreneurship as the activities of individuals with a high aspiration to achieve, seek financial and personal independence, and want to create a new thing.

To a business person, entrepreneurship has to do with the process of a modern business, industrial leadership, and aggressive competition among others with the aim of making financial gains by offering better products and services. Others may have a negative view.

To many others who dislike free enterprise such as communists, labour unionists, social activists among others, the entrepreneur is a rogue who appropriates profits, exploit society and destroys the natural environment.

Notwithstanding, the benefits of entrepreneurship largely outweigh any negative aspects. In all, these different views there are common components of entrepreneurship. These include:

Recognition of business opportunities. Initiating ideas and action. Using economic, managerial, social, and technical mechanisms in converting, improving, and organizing resources.

Innovation and creating something new and of value.
Risk-taking and tolerance for failure.

Entrepreneurship is a process of identifying opportunities, creating or improving new or existing technology, products, and services, bearing the accompanying risk, and receiving a resultant reward.

How Unemployed Youths Can Identify Business Opportunities (+Examples).

How Unemployed Youths Can Identify Business Opportunities

In my previous articles, I have looked at some of the facts that you need to know about entrepreneurship but in this article, I want to talk about some of the ways by which unemployed Youths can identify business opportunities and stop running after white-collar jobs. Follow me as we are going to look at that together in this article.

Business Opportunities are identified from the business environment, customers, government institutions, mass media, schools among others.

Most societal problems are opportunities for the entrepreneur to provide a solution, that is a product or a service.

It could be a new drug to solve a health problem, new farm equipment, or pesticide, a multimedia system that is used to impact knowledge in schools, a new course in the university, a new perfume that prevents body odour, an accounting problem among others.

This shows that the entrepreneurial process requires and involves improving existing products and commercialising untried technology. Entrepreneurship is neither a science nor an art. It is more of a practice, however, as in all practice, such as accountancy, Engineering, Medicine, knowledge is vital as a means to an end.

The practice is what really defines who is actually an entrepreneur. Drucker (1985) explained that every practice rests on a theory of economy and society. Intending entrepreneurs get their knowledge, skills and passion through informal education and experience in the family business, apprenticeship or on the job, practical training in small or large organisations.

Formal training can also be obtained in educational institutions. Entrepreneurship is increasingly becoming a discipline and course of study in universities, professional institutions as well as technical and vocational schools.

The emergence of a free-market economic system in hitherto to state-controlled economies of Eastern Europe, defunct Soviet Union, China etc. and developing economies in Asia, Africa, Latin America among others has given an increasing rise to global entrepreneurship.

The free market system encourages competition in the marketplace among entrepreneurs.

To remain in the market and be relevant to society, the entrepreneur must be very innovative and continually developing new products with greater value to their customers.

Innovations have been the bedrock and driving force of modern entrepreneurship. Business ventures that are not willing to invest in innovation are soon forced out of the market. This is a pointer to business failure.

Through innovation, new industries are built and existing ones changed. Innovation is usually in all aspects of a business; in product design and development, in production process and techniques, in managing staff, finance, marketing, sales, distribution, customer services and so on. This invariably means that entrepreneurship has also gone beyond just starting a new business venture or owning a small business.

To be entrepreneurial, specific characteristics are required of an individual.

These are abilities to create new things, something different with added value. Entrepreneurs strive to do things better, creatively destroying existing orders and introducing new and better ones.

Entrepreneurship is not only found in business organisations but also in non-profit making organisations. It is found in government, non-governmental organisations and even religious organisations.

Many government establishments also innovate, create new things, change and add value to their products and services.

Take, for example, the activities of many Nigerian government regulating agencies and research institutes and proactive government officials who attempt to bring some innovation into the government.

An example can be found in NAFDAC and NIPOST that made themselves very relevant to society with their various products and services.

NGOs develop various ways of offering services as well as assessing funds from donor agencies. Once their proposals are creatively written to be responsive to core development intervention areas such as health, basic education, gender issues, conflict resolution, microfinance among other development financial institutions and donor agencies will be willing to provide funds.

Proposal writing and project execution require foresight, creativity and innovation. Many churches and other religious organisations, especially the charismatic ones are also very entrepreneurial.

A number of clergies are engaged in a lot of entrepreneurial activities. They create new and different approaches of worship, ceremonies, as well as novel approaches to evangelism or missionary, works to satisfy the needs of their members as appealing to new members.

There are innovations in their obvious products such as the regular church services offered ion Sundays, Bible studies, evening services, find raising services like bazaars and special services such as being ceremony, baptism, marriage, funeral among others.

Others even go as much as to introduce other products like daycare services, medical care, basic and higher education  etc Schools, hospitals, publishing houses etc established by churches are among the best in the world.

The church is also one of the best mobilisers of funds for community development. Clergies who are able to introduce acceptable innovation in their churches are great achievers today.

Entrepreneurship Development Theories: Understanding The Background (+Examples)

2 Types Of Entrepreneurship Development Theories

I have talked about some of the facts that you need to know about entrepreneurship development theories in organisations. In this article, I want to look at some of the Entrepreneurship Development Theories for entrepreneurs. Follow me as we are going to look at this together in this article.

The word entrepreneurship originates from the French word ‘entrepredres’. It means to undertake, that is, to undertake a business venture. It also means ‘go between’ that is a person who signed a contract with a financier to sell his or her product.

The capitalist provided a loan to the merchant adventurer at a given rate of interest.

The merchant adventurer performed an active role of trading bearing the physical and emotional risk; the financier bears the passive risk and usually take a large part of the profit.

This was the earlier view of the entrepreneur prior to the middle age in Europe.

An example of such an entrepreneur was the legendary adventurer Marco Polo. In the middle age, merchants, actors artists, painters, sculptors, architects or managers of large scale art projects were referred to as entrepreneurs.

Theories and commentaries on entrepreneurship originate from the following source of approaches:

Do you need a Loan as an Entrepreneur? Check Here.

#1 Psychological Trait Approach

The contributors to this approach are McClelland, Meredith, etc. They contended that the entrepreneur has some personality characteristics e.g need for achievement and independence, risk-taking, internal locus of control, foresight, tolerance for ambiguity, acceptance of failure among others that distinguish him or her from other individuals.

#2 Sociological Approach

The contributions of writers such as Marx Weber and Frank Young argued that prevailing social and economic conditions in the social environment have impacts on the development of entrepreneur behaviour.

There are other African commentators that believe that entrepreneurship is a product of the social-economic and technological system.

Once these systems are weak in a nation or state, entrepreneur behaviour is retarded. For instance, Ogbor Ikhimokpa and Enwegbara believe that the banes of African entrepreneurship are bad governance, corruption, poor infrastructure, weak economic base among others.

Richard Cantillon Contribution To Entrepreneurship Development

In this article, I want to continue my discussion about entrepreneurship development. I will be talking about all that you need to know about the contributions of Richard Cantillon and Jean Baptiste Say to Entrepreneurship Development.

To earliest theories of entrepreneurship are this of Richard Cantillon and Jean Baptiste Say. Both were 18tj century French economists. He argued that all entrepreneurs -merchants, financiers, farmers and artisan operate their enterprises at a risk by buying at a certain price and selling at an uncertain price.

He is regarded as the founder of the term entrepreneur. He explained that the person bearing risk (entrepreneur) is distinct from the person providing finance (capitalist).

He observes that entrepreneur plays a pivotal role in the development of the market economy.

Contillon and Say belong to the Economic School Of Thought known as the ‘Physiocrat’ which concerned there economic analysis mainly on the physical aspect of an agrarian economy.

Contillon wrote that there are those classes of people in an economy or society:

  • The entrepreneur
  • The landowners
  • The workers

Entrepreneurs As Actors

According to him, entrepreneurs were actors in the economy. They provide mainly commercial roles in the stages of production. Cantillon’s views were not considered by the earliest industrial economists probably because of the dominance of their thinking on land and agrarian economy.

Jean Baptiste also emphasized this difference between the entrepreneur and the person providing capital.

He distinguished between the profit of the entrepreneur who bears the risk and interest paid to the provider of the capital.

Say described the entrepreneurial functions as that of combining various business resources, risk-taking and management.

According to him, the entrepreneur shifts economic resources from areas of lower productivity to areas of higher productivity and greater yield.

10 Attributes Of Emerging Entrepreneural Venture (With Practical Examples).

In my previous article, I have talked about all that you need to know about how you can become an entrepreneur and be your own boss. In this article, I want to look at some of the common attributes of emerging Entrepreneurial ventures. Follow me as we are going to look at that together in this article.

#1 Result oriented

A good entrepreneur will always focus on results. He will always highly his vision, focus on what customers want and plan on how he will be able to achieve those goals that he has set when he was starting out as an entrepreneur.

#2 Task culture with a flat structure

Another major fact about entrepreneurs I’d that they are always task-focused and has a flat structure. At times, when they are starting out, they are almost the ones doing everything. Their aim is to complete all the tasks that he has set for themselves.

#3 Development of new ideas

Also, Entrepreneurial ventures always encourage the development of new ideas.

As an entrepreneur that wants to succeed, he needs to bring diverse brains together in order to achieve corporate goals. He will always welcome different calibre of people that will be able to help him to succeed.

#4 Continuous innovation

Another thing that you can not take away from entrepreneurs is that they continue to evolve.

A good entrepreneur will always look for ways of doing things in a better way by creating what is not existing before or packaging it in a better way. They are always ready to explore new opportunities.

#5 High uncertainty

Another major issue with new Entrepreneurial ventures is that there is a high-level às far as the business venture is concerned.

The so-called new business owner is not even sure whether the business venture will succeed or not. It was even discovered according to research that most of the new business ventures failed in the first five years of establishment.

#6 Risk-taking

Another issue that you need to know about emerging Entrepreneurial ventures is that there is a high level of risk-taking.

There is always little tolerance for failure and persistent trial in the organisation. Sone of these new business owners always fails because they are always afraid of taking risks.

#7 Visionary and persistent leadership

Another fact that you need to know about entrepreneurs is that they are always visionary and they are very persistent in their vision.

They have goals that they have set to achieve and they always put together all the resources that they needed in order for them to succeed.

Whether they will succeed or not now has to do with their ability to use available resources to achieve their goals.

#8 Long time horizon for growth and expansion

You also need the knowledge that entrepreneurs always follow a long lope to success.

They need to understand that they have to pass through many upheavals on their way to success and they are ready to weather the storm in order for them to succeed. Amazingly, not all of them always get to the end of the rope.

#9 Organic organisation

You also need to know that entrepreneurs have an organic organisation that is wired up for change. Unlike big corporations where there are procedures for making changes.

It is always very easy for the owners to quickly adjust and change some practical steps in order to adapt to new situations. This allows the organisation to progress steadily towards attaining its goals.

 #10 Reward

Good entrepreneurs need to also understand the concept of ” the higher the risk, the higher the reward”.

They need to know that the best time to take risk is the time that everyone is running away from risk.

Entrepreneurs have developed a system that is based on performance and results. If you failed to perform, then you have no reward.

Contributions of Francis Walter To Entrepreneurial Development

In my previous article, I have talked about the contributions of Richard Cantillon to Entrepreneurial Development. Now I want to look at some of the major contributions of Francis Walter to Entrepreneurial Development. Follow me as we are going to consider that together in this article.

His Contributions

In the late 19th century, Francis Walter also differentiated between those who supplied funds and received interest and those that provided management and receive profit.

This distinction was as a result of the increasing industrialization of the 19th century.

At the beginning of the 20th century, entrepreneurs were viewed mainly from an economic perspective.

The entrepreneur was regarded as an organiser who starts and operates an enterprise in expectation of reward of profit and equally bears the risk of making a loss.

The work of undertaking risk in expectation of profit is referred to as an ‘enterprise’ and the provision of capital is referred to as ‘financing’.

The famous economist John Stuart Mill in his 1948 Classic, ‘ The Principle Of Political Economy’ also popularised the ideas of the entrepreneur as an organiser who assumes the risk of a business in return for profit.

Before the industrial revolution in England, production was carried out on a small scale and usually in cottage industries.

There was no distinction between enterprise and management. With the invention of heavy machinery and the emergence of large industrial undertakings, joint-stock company ownership from control, that is, the separation of shareholders and directors.

Hence, a separation was made between enterprise and management.

The shareholders bear the risk and get the reward of ownership.

Enterprise relates to shareholders. In most organisations,  the actual work of management is done by paid managers or appointed directors. The entrepreneur is not a paid manager: he or she performs the task of risk-taking and provides general leadership.

The directors perform the work of corporate management.

However, in small scale businesses, it is difficult to separate the functions of the entrepreneur and that of the organiser or manager. These functions are performed by the same person, the small business owner.

Macbook Really Helpful For Coding Than Windows

In my first programming classes, we needed to work just with Windows and a Linux virtual machine I worked mostly with C# and visual studio, the lab PCs we utilized at my college were consistently Windows machines.

I continued utilizing a Windows PC since that is the thing that I’ve been utilizing for every one of my classes, I never truly needed to contemplate whether I should utilize a Mac, I had Windows and VM Linux on a similar machine, it was adequate for me.

I hear numerous individuals instructing me to change to a Mac, I’m not detesting on Macintosh or anything, I’ve generally favoured Windows, you pick a PC since it’s the most sufficient with your need and what innovation you are working with.

Either will turn out great, yet you may likewise need to consider what you’re teachers will utilize particularly when you are a learner. I utilize a Windows PC, and the vast majority of my instructors and my friends use Windows.

I get along fine however some of the time I need to locate my own particular manner if the instructor’s favoured devices aren’t accessible on Windows like homemade libation or other stuff.

1. The cost

Alright let’s face it here, Macs are generally more costly than Windows PCs, we can’t all bear to get one, I feel like the cost is excessively high for the framework and equipment you get, I went through less cash for comparable more execution.

You normally get substantially more equipment for your cash when you purchase a Windows-based PC. Probably the best thing about Windows gadgets right now is that they offer such an assortment to clients as should be obvious with Dell XPS 15.

The cheapest MacBook Pro 15-inch is more expensive than the second-from-top-end Dell XPS 15, which is slightly more powerful than its Apple-made rival.

2. Security

Macs tend to be safer against malware, viruses, and other tools of the trade for malicious hackers.
And since Apple’s Mac operating system is built on Unix, ’s a little more secure by default than Windows, Macworld reports.

3. APPLICATIONS AND UX

The second 50% of the Mac achievement dyad is, as referenced, its charming and exquisite UI and its wide accessibility of great applications.

For what reason was that such a distinct advantage?

To begin with, remember that engineers are likewise ending clients, and they also appreciate utilizing cleaned, easy-to-use, incredible-looking, and productive applications. Who wouldn’t?

We likewise can’t disregard history.

The advancement of Apple items—particularly MacBooks—among designers matched with a period when web improvement began to turn out to be progressively complex and to require more specific devices.

The macOS X climate was prepared to satisfy the need with word processors, bundle administrators, and a lot more applications that didn’t generally have rivals among its rivals.

In this way, an ever-increasing number of engineers began embracing these machines due to the—exact—observation that they offered the best climate for improvement.

That produces an intriguing temperate circle: The stage pulls in designers, who at that point make more apparatuses to make their carries on simpler.

That, thusly, makes the stage more alluring, which brings significantly more designers, and the inevitable outcome follows.

4. Programming

For programming, the two stages are similarly useful for engineers and it truly relies upon what instruments you need, and for which stages they are accessible, relies upon what language as well as which structures you plan to utilize.

On the off chance that you are intending to work in Visual Studio, SQL Worker, C#, and .NET it is smarter to create on a PC it just ran better and felt better on Windows.

Most Python and C stuff occur in Best Linux Distros. You actually could do that all in Windows, yet particularly beginning, it will likely be less work for you and less disappointing, in the event that you simply introduce a Linux VM and utilize that all things being equal.

In the event that you need to create for OS X or iPhone, Ruby/Rails stuff, change to a Mac. You, in fact, could do that on Windows as well, however for those networks, it’s not the normal show, you’d be battling with your framework more than others in the event that you need to send to the iOS application store, you need a Mac.

Some toolchains permit you to create/test iOS programming on Windows machines, yet you should be on a Mac to really transfer it.

HOW DO I CHOOSE WHAT’S BEST FOR ME?

The main factor is the kind of advancement being finished. For example, iOS improvement requires a gadget running MacOS X, so the decision here isn’t generally a decision.

For web improvement, Macs will, in general, be a great decision, yet so is Linux. Contingent upon the tech stack so is Windows. Discussing which, Windows is the conspicuous way for creating Windows applications and administrations, and it’s a strong decision for big business programming by and large.

The subsequent thing to consider is your own inclination. On the off chance that you like Macs—in case you’re pulled in by their stylish, the proposal of uses, and the general Apple biological system—at that point let it all out! (Shockingly, we need to add a proviso here. In numerous locales of the world, Apple gadgets are restrictively costly, so moderation is something else that must be considered in.)

In the event that you need to turn into a software engineer, however, don’t claim a Mac—regardless of whether this is on the grounds that you don’t care for Apple items or on the grounds that you can’t bear the cost of them—that is not an issue! You can turn into a software engineer at any stage.

The PC you as of now have and a web association (which you clearly as of now have) are all you require to begin on your excursion.

GAMIFICATION IN AN IDEAL EDUCATIONAL SETTING: A CASE STUDY OF MECAMA EDUCATIONAL GAMES

Akinwole Adebayo Najeemdeen (B. Ed, M. Ed).

Abstract

Teachers have to solve important issues related to the adaptation of the learning process towards
students who have different learning styles and new requirements for teaching and learning.
Gamification is one of the educational approaches and techniques that increase motivation and
engagement of learners.

The aim of this paper is to study and present the nature and benefits of gamification and to critically examine MECAMA Educational Games as tools for educational growth and development; and also to provide some ideas on how to implement the games in an educational setting.

Key Words: gamification, skill-practice games, role playing, simulations, educational game, MARCO,
E’MARCO, COGA, ANTOR, MARCO PLUS, MECAMA

INTRODUCTION

Generally, a game is an activity or a sport with rules in which people (players) or teams compete against each other or one another. In other words, a game is any contest (setting) among players interacting within a set of limitations (rules) to achieve an objective.

Games and simulations can be viewed as a component of an overall educational strategy, used to supplement other teaching methods, and developed as the major device for presentation, and used as a practical laboratory for the application of ideas learned elsewhere.

Games are integral parts of all cultures and one among the oldest sorts of human social interaction. A game is any sort of play, amusement and activity involving competition. Game contains what can engage students and help them enter a state of flow where they are fully immersed within the learning environment and energized to specialise in the activity they are involved in (Koivisto & Hamari, 2014).

The three types of games are Skill-practice games, Role Playing and Simulations. Educational games are games that are designed to help people to learn about certain subjects, expand concepts, reinforce development, understand a historical event or culture or assist them in learning a skill as they play.

In recent years, educational games have become more and more prevalent. There is an abundance of specifically designed educational games. There are also many entertainment games that have been  used for training or education. Educational games are specifically used for education. Educational games are also known as academic games, serious games, skill-practice games and game-based learning.

Game-based learning (GBL) is a type of game play that has defined learning outcomes. Generally,
game-based learning is designed to balance subject matter with game play and the ability of the player to retain, and apply said subject matter to the real world.

Play and learning are synonymous, leading to cognitive and emotional development inside a social and cultural context. (Wikipedia).

The idea of using games or games elements in education to interact students within the process of active learning is not new and may be traced back to the sixties when Piaget (1962) acknowledged that games could not only help children to master their environments but also to make the worlds of their imagination.

Games also encourage students to play a lively role within the learning process thus
supporting active learning, experiential learning, playful learning, and problem-based learning (Oblinger, 2004). Over the years, educators are increasingly incorporating various games into their teaching curriculum in an attempt to make a fun and interesting learning environment for college kids.

Educational games are interactive, collaborative and competitive games that tend to motivate and encourage student
participation within the learning process (Martí Parreñoa, et al., 2016).

MEANING OF GAMIFICATION AND GAMIFICATION IN EDUCATION

Teachers are facing new challenges and have to solve important issues related to the adaptation of the
learning process towards students’ needs, preferences and requirements. Teachers have to use different
teaching methods and approaches that allow students to be active participants with strong motivation and
engagement to their own learning.

According to Kapp (2012), gamification is “using game-based mechanics, aesthetics and game
thinking to engage people, motivate action, promote learning, and solve problems.” The term
‘gamification’ refers to the use of game mechanics in non‐gaming contexts (Deterding, Dixon, Khaled, &
Nacke, 2011) or, rather, to the event of creating gameful experiences (Koivisto & Hamari, 2014).

Gamification is the use of game thinking, approaches and elements in a context different from the
games.

Using game mechanics improves motivation and learning in formal and informal conditions. In
summary, Gamification is an integration of game elements and game thinking in activities that are not
games. Gamification in education is, therefore, the use of game mechanics and elements in educational environment.

Implementation of game elements in education is logical since there are some facts that are
typical for the games and training. Users’ actions in games are aimed at achieving a specific goal (win) in the presence of obstacles. In education, there is a learning objective, which has to be achieved by performing specific learning activities or interaction with educational content.

Tracking the players’ progress in games is an important element, because next steps and moves are based on their results. In education tracking the students’ progress is essential to achieve the learning objectives. Students’ learning path is determined by the achieved levels of knowledge and skills (Glover, 2013).

Collaboration in education is a milestone for the effective implementation of active learning.
Unlike training, games possess a strong competitive element. The focus in learning process should be
rather towards developing skills for collaboration and teamwork and responsibility for the performance of the group instead of competition between students.

IMPORTANCE AND EFFCETS OF GAMIFICATION IN EDUCATION

Gamification seems to be a replacement trend in several sectors, alongside business, structure
management, in-service coaching, health, policy, and education.

Gamification is adopted in different contexts and for a variety of purposes. It is used as a driver to promote fundamental things like learning, employee performance, customer engagement, and even crowdsourcing initiatives.

Gamification represents an innovative and interesting methodology to motivate students and
enhance their learning process (Martí-Parreñoa, Seguí-Masa, & Seguí-Mas, 2016). Gamification affects students’ behavior, commitment and motivation, which can lead to improvement of knowledge and skills (W. Hsin-Yuan Huang, D. Soman, 2013). Gamification supports and motivates students, and can thus lead to enhanced learning processes and outcomes (Kapp, 2012).

Lam (2014) asserted that the utilization of gamification could turn learning into a more interesting
and interesting activity and assist in improving students’ level of attention and persistence also as their
attitudes towards learning.

Gamification is an effective approach to make positive change in students’ behavior and attitude
towards learning, to improve their motivation and engagement. The results of the change have bilateral nature – they can affect students’ results and understanding of the educational content and create conditions for an effective learning process.

MECAMA EDUCATIONAL GAMES

MECAMA Educational Games are a brand of five educational games invented to aid learning processes. They are all board and card games with clearly written and easy-to-understand rules and manuals. When talking about board games in the context of learning and education, it can be said that a board game is more than just a game of strategy played by moving pieces on a board.

The term “board game” surely implies action (a specific kind of activity), but it also encompasses the experience of play – the unique modality of human experience (Botturi & Loh, 2008). It is a carefully constructed system designed to create a gameplay experience (Hunsucker, 2016), as well as to make certain content, problems or materials more clear, more personal and closer to the players; it is a sort of autotelic experience in which a person is completely involved engaging his or her full operational capacities (Csikszentmihalyi, 1999).

MECAMA Educational games, which are technologically adoptable, are a kind of instructional
and learning materials designed in a playable way and attractively with a view to bringing about the
advantages inherent in games.

The games are MARCO, E’MARCO, COGA, ANTOR and MARCO PLUS. MECAMA Educational Games are patented by the Trademark, Patent and Design Division, Commercial Law Department, Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in Nigeria.

MECAMA Educational Games are indigenous academic games with international standards and endorsements by local and international academics and organisations. The TVC News endorsed MECAMA Educational Games’ invention by featuring their reports in her national special news.

In each pack of MECAMA Educational Games, there are game board, scorecard, game cards,
pencils, game manuals/playing rules and video for the games’ knowhow. Efforts to put MECAMA
Educational Games (MARCO, E’MARCO, COGA, ANTOR and MARCO PLUS) in electronic forms in
terms of phone applications and computer software are on, for global and easy acceptability and
accessibility.

HOW TO USE MECAMA EDUCATIONAL GAMES EFFECTIVELY

MECAMA Educational Games are relatively easy to use and require only limited amounts of preparation. They must be integrated into an overall set of learning objectives. They can be easily be made
entertaining and should be used to motivate learners/players and make class attendances fun rather than
drudgery.

To be most effective, MECAMA Educational games must:

1. Be integrated in the school curriculum/time table – This is unique and pacesetting for any
educational setting;
2. Be blended into mathematics and English Studies teaching;
3. Include reward/award system for players;
4. Have competitions among;
5. Be used as co-curricular activities;
6. Be relevant – New skills and words and meanings are to be asked from players, and lots more.

CONCLUSION

Notably, not much research has been done on how games are actually used in teaching and learning
scenario but the few ones that have been done have actually proved effective, efficient, positive, fruitful and in line with the current educational trends. Gamification is an effective approach to make positive change in students’ behavior and attitude towards learning, to improve their motivation and engagement.

The results of the change have bilateral nature – they can affect students’ results and understanding of the educational content and create conditions for an effective learning process.

It is undoubtedly noteworthy playing games lead to the creation of something new, tangible and
certainly noticeable. A playful approach to education gives freedom to all actors in the processes of
teaching and learning.

Freedom is particularly noticeable in the context of understanding, encouraging
and creating new learning and teaching potentials through a collective, collaborative and creative work
based on the application of board games.

If this freedom is to be productive in terms of development,
both students and teachers need to learn about games and play, so these could be appropriately used for learning purposes. Thus, learning about games and play is a precondition of learning through games and play.

Fiskateers: A Community of Creative Scrapbookers

Fiskateers is a social community of passionate crafters who take self-expression and creating very seriously. The Fiskateers community was created by Fiskars, a well-known brand that produces crafting tools and materials. The Fiskateers community is a place where crafters can connect, share ideas, and participate in offline groups called “crops.”

To join the Fiskateers community, one must be invited by one of the four head Fiskateers. The community values the opinions of its members and provides them with a platform to share their ideas and thoughts.

Though most of the crafting is done offline, the Fiskateers community is active online, where members can connect with each other and share their creations. The Fiskateers community has become a veritable sales force for Fiskars, with members promoting the brand and its products to their friends and family.

The Fiskateers community has been successful in creating a space where crafters can connect and share their passion for creating. The community has grown over the years, with members from all over the world. The Fiskateers community has also become a platform for Fiskars to promote its brand and products.

The community has been successful in creating a loyal customer base for Fiskars, with members promoting the brand and its products to others. Overall, the Fiskateers community is a great example of how a social community can become a powerful force in promoting a brand and its products.

History of Fiskateers Founding of Fiskars

Fiskars is a leading global supplier of consumer products for home, garden, and outdoors. The company has a rich history that dates back to 1649, when a Dutch merchant named Peter Thorwöste established an ironworks in the Finnish village of Fiskars. Over the next few centuries, the company expanded its operations and became known for its high-quality scissors, knives, and other cutting tools.

Creation of Fiskateers

In 2005, Fiskars Brands, Inc. was facing a challenge. The company’s market research showed that its products, including its famous scissors, were losing ground to cheaper, commoditized products available in chain stores like Wal-Mart. To counter this trend, Fiskars decided to launch a social media campaign to engage with its customers and build a community of brand advocates.

The result was Fiskateers, a social community for crafters and scrapbookers who use Fiskars products. The program was launched in early 2006 with the help of South Carolina identity development agency Brains on Fire and specifically Geno Church. The Fiskateers program was a word-of-mouth campaign designed to use social media to promote Fiskars products and build a community of loyal customers.

Fiskateers quickly became a thriving online community, with more than 7,000 brand advocates by 2013. The program was built around the idea of “spreading the Fiskateer spirit,” which encouraged members to share their love of crafting and Fiskars products with others. Fiskateers were given special training and access to exclusive content, and they were encouraged to host events and workshops in their local communities.

Overall, Fiskateers was a successful marketing campaign that helped Fiskars to connect with its customers and build a community of brand advocates. The program was a testament to the power of social media and the importance of engaging with customers in a meaningful way.

Pile of Money: How to Manage Wealth (+Examples)

Piles of money are a common symbol of wealth and success. They are often depicted in movies and TV shows as a sign of financial prosperity. However, in reality, piles of money are not as common as they may seem. Most people do not have access to large amounts of cash, and those who do often have it tied up in investments or other assets.

Despite this, the allure of a pile of money remains strong. People often dream of winning the lottery or inheriting a large sum of money, hoping that it will solve all their financial problems.
