Resignation Letters for Designers: Dos and Don’ts

Knowing when to leave your job can be tough when you love the work you do. This can be especially true if you’re working for a well-known or popular company, or if you’ve been at your job for quite some time. However, the longer you stay in one place, the harder it becomes to relocate your career later on down the line. It’s important to recognize signs that it may be time to resign from your job as a designer in order to pursue new opportunities before they pass by.

Do Include a Thank You

It’s very important to be polite enough. Here are examples below:

– Thank you for the opportunity to work with your company. I have enjoyed my time working with your team and am grateful that I had the chance to work with you on this project.
– I wish you all the best in your future endeavors, and thank you again for the opportunity to work with you. It has been a pleasure to be a part of such an excellent company.
– I would like to extend my gratitude for the invaluable experience and knowledge I gained from working with you here at ABC Company Ltd., as well as for allowing me to take on some challenges which allowed me develop skills in different areas of graphic design.
Thank you very much once again!

Do Keep it Short and Sweet

A resignation letter is a thoughtful gesture that will impress your employer, and make the process of leaving less painful.

The following are some dos and don’ts when drafting a letter:
– Do thank your employer for their time
– Don’t include any negative statements about the company or boss
– Do have someone else proofread it before submitting
– Don’t forget to save a copy of the letter on your computer, in case you need it down the line

Do Offer to Help With The Transition

It is never easy to leave a position, but it can be especially hard when the company you are leaving doesn’t see any value in your work. One of the best things you can do is offer to help with the transition by providing training or other assistance.

You may also want to offer to work from home until they find a replacement. As long as it’s not against policy and you don’t put yourself at risk, try to provide as much support as possible during this difficult time.

Don’t let personal feelings seep into your resignation letter: A good resignation letter should always convey appreciation for the time spent at that company. It is important to write a letter that will reflect positively on both parties; if you don’t then there could be potential lawsuits down the line.

Don’t burn any bridges

– Always be professional. It may not seem like a big deal now, but what you say or do may come back to haunt you in the future.
– Don’t make it all about you. Try to show appreciation for the company that helped you get where you are, even if it didn’t work out.
– Don’t burn any bridges. If a co-worker was your friend, take the time to email them with your heartfelt goodbye so they know how much they meant to you.

Also, don’t forget to thank the boss for everything he or she did for you. When you start sending out these letters, it can feel very final; however, there’s always hope that something will change down the line and you’ll end up returning to your old job!

Don’t get too personal

A resignation letter is usually a formal document that is submitted to an employer when one decides to resign from the company. There are no strict guidelines on how to write a resignation letter, so it is best to keep it concise.

Try not to get too personal in the letter because you never know who will end up reading it.

#1 Do address your reason for leaving

Why did you decide to leave? What made you want to leave? How did this decision come about? Were there any specific reasons you decided to take this course of action? Is there anything we can do to change your mind or make the transition easier for you? Please let me know if I can be of any assistance with the process.

#2 Do mention if you’re looking for other work or if they should contact you with new opportunities

I am currently exploring new career opportunities and welcome contact from recruiters concerning positions that might interest me.

Don’t Forget to Update Your Contact Information
It’s important to update your contact information in the letter so that any potential clients who come across it will be able to get in touch with you. Make sure to include your new email address, phone number, and social media accounts if you have them.

Introduction

In our previous lesson, we highlighted some misconceptions held by some Christians in some circles. We also examined some of the reasons Christians should be involved in politics from the biblical perspective. In today’s lesson, we shall attempt to guide Christians with genuine intentions on how to be practically involved in politics and avoid pitfalls.

How To Be Involved In Politics

Christians should note that it is their civil right and responsibility under the law (Titus 3:1: 1 Peter 2:13-14) to vote and be voted for (Deut. 1:13). Therefore. every eligible Christian should register with the relevant electoral body in order to participate during elections . In addition, it is important for Christians to be “card carrying” members of any political party of preference . By so doing, Christians can contest and be voted into elective positions or influence the choice of their representatives for elective positions (Ex. 18:21).

To join a political party , you need to get information. Visit the websites of the parties available in your country or the respective party secretariat within your locality. Go through their detailed profiles to know the party ideology and manifesto. Fill out a party registration form and provide support document(s)/payments as may be required. A membership card will be issued to you as confirmation. Attend party meetings regularly and actively to be a voice to be reckoned with.

Christians aspiring for elective leadership positions should be sure to have a leading burden or passion to serve the people and solve problems. (1 Sam. 17:29; 34-37; Neh. 2:1-5). To succeed in politics, Christians should read books and attend seminars/conferences on leadership/politics (Prov. 16:16). It is also important to be mentored by a seasoned Christian political leader (Prov. 1:5; 11:14)

Christians may also prayerfully join or support an advocacy group (Est. 4:8; 13-14) or form a political party with people of like minds (1 Sam. 22:2; Daniel 2:49).

Things To Watch Out For In Politics

1. It is the desire of God that believers take charge and have influence here on earth (Deut. 28:13). We are to take the lead and allow kingdom values to shape our society. (Matt. 5:13-16).
2. The leaders we elect or fail to elect, have a great influence on our freedom, well-being and the fulfilment of our God-given mandate. They can choose to protect our rights to worship and spread the gospel, or prevent us from exercising such rights (Esther 4;14; Daniel 6:7).
3. Politics like other sectors of national development (health,. finance, etc). should be explored to “teach all nations” in order to demonstrate the exemplary life and flavour of goodness (Daniel 6:1-3; Matt. 28:19-20).
4. The involvement of godly Christians in politics will reduce corruption, disorderliness, mischief and other socio-economic vices in the society (2 Chro. 14:1-5; Prov. 29:2).
5. To effect positive and lasting changes that will benefit society (Genesis 41:33-40; Prov. 14:34).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: What can believers do to eliminate the fear of failure or defeat in politics?

SUMMARY: Believers must be involved in politics.

CONCLUSION
God is still looking for the righteous few in order to uplift our nations (Genesis 18:32).

EVALUATION
Why must believers be involved in politics?

Christians And Politics. RCCG Sunday School Manual

Memory Verse: “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn“-Prov. 29:2.

Bible Passage: Nehemiah 5: 14-19.

Introduction

Generally, Politics can be described as the methodology and activities associated with running a government, an organisation or a movement. Politics is all about influence. It is the influence that further births positive or negative changes in the lives of the people. The involvement of Christians in politics is neither secular; nor beyond the ideologies of Christinaity because it is the desire of God that believers take charge and have influence here on earth (Genesis 1:28; Matt.5:13-16).

Misconception About Politics

Some Christians believes that, since our kingdom is not of this world, we do not have to be involved in any political activity in the world we presently live in (John 17:14). This is not the whole truth but a misconception aiomed at robbing us of our godly heritage of dominion (Ps. 8:6; 1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 5:10).

Here are some reasons for the misconception or wrong notions about the involvement of Christians in politics:

1. Politics is a dirty game and a worldly affair.
2. Political involvements will take one to hell.
3. All politicians are liars corrupt and promiscuous.
4. It is an opportunity to embezzle money or amass wealth unlawfully.
5. Most politicians are fetish or occultic.

Lasting Legacy. RCCG Student Manual 4/4/2021

MEMORY VERSE: “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.” – Proverbs 13:22
BIBLE PASSAGE: Jeremiah 35:2-11KJV

2 Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
3 Than I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;
4 And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:
5 And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.
6 But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons forever:
7 Neither shall ye build a house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers.
8 Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;
9 Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:
10 But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
11 But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.

INTRODUCTION

A legacy is defined as what we leave behind, to family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, and communities. This includes material possessions, our history, belief systems, and values (if adopted), business practices, name, reputation, and teaching (if useful). It could also be defined as money or property bequeathed to another by will or something handed down from an ancestor or a predecessor or from the past. Legacies are rare and special gifts, from one person to another, from one generation to the next.

As Christians, we should seek to leave a lasting legacy of godliness for those who come behind us. The fact is, most of what we do will not last; things we cherish will ultimately perish with the using” (Colossians 2:22). Unless we think seriously about the kind of legacy we are developing, it is likely we will leave nothing worth inheriting.

LESSON OUTLINE:

  1. HOW TO LEAVE A LASTING LEGACY
  2. BENEFITS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF A GODLY LEGACY

1. HOW TO LEAVE A LASTING LEGACY

Passing on to the next generations a legacy with eternal value is far more important than a temporal inheritance of money and property. The single most important legacy you can leave to the next generation is serving the Lord and thereby affecting their generation and thereafter. And the quality of your life in Christ will be one of the major influences upon them. Believers can leave legacies of life skills and faith examples to their children (Proverbs 1:8,9). Christian leaders can also leave positive legacies in the lives of others. You can leave an enduring legacy in many ways:

  1. Set up examples of character traits your children should develop. Be consistent with rules and consequences. 1 Timothy 4:12.
  2. Make sure your own choices reflect the teaching of Jesus and the legacy you hope to create. Job 36:10.
  3. Building your life and those whom you influence upon the eternal word or God. Proverbs 30:3-5.
  4. Encourage and inspire them. Hebrews 10:24-25.
  5. Freely give and receive grace and forgiveness. Colossians 3:13.
  6. Winning souls to the Lord. Proverbs 11:30.
  7. Touching the lives of those younger, even much younger, than you with the wisdom the years have given you. Target some young people. Hebrews 13:16.
  8. Love your local church, and do everything in your power to make it a beacon of truth and blessing to your community.
  9. Maintaining godly character and conduct. Proverbs 22:1.
  10. Give out of your time and be available to them.

2. BENEFITS AND CHARACTERISTICS OF A GODLY LEGACY

The following are some of the benefits of leaving a lasting legacy

  1. It impacts the next generation.
  2. Great visions and passion not to die off.
3 A way of providing for the next generation.
  3. Developing next generation of leaders.
  4. Having a legacy will make you a better leader. It will exert a positive impact on the way you plan and lead and how you communicate and the values you hold.

The characteristics of a godly legacy include:

  1. A positive legacy must be developed. It does not just happen.
  2. Must be worth inheriting.
  3. Legacy is not about celebrating your life or achievements, but maximising the influence you can have in the lives of others so that you know your work for God is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58.
  4. Legacy is not about titles or positions (these do not “make” the leader), but credibility, influence, positive role modelling, passion and integrity.
  5. Legacy is about others “buying into” our beliefs and values and following them when we are not around because what we leave behind has true worth.

Pass on the best of yourself to those you lead. Set an example.

CONCLUSION: Many leaders assume legacy is something they need to think about later in life. Others do not leave a legacy at all ((those who follow are left to pick up the pieces), or their work and vision quickly dissipate and they are quickly forgotten. Good legacy building starts now. Make your life count. Do it now.

QUESTIONS:

  1. How can believers leave a lasting legacy for generations after them?
  2. Mention the benefits of having a good legacy.

Marital Unfaithfulness. RCCG Sunday School

MEMORY VERSE: “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.” – Hebrews 13:4

BIBLE PASSAGE: Proverbs 7:6-27 KJV
Pro 7:6  One day I was looking out my window
Pro 7:7  at some foolish teenagers and noticed one who had no sense at all.
Pro 7:8  He was walking through the marketplace and came to the corner where a certain woman lived. He then turned up the road that goes by her house.
Pro 7:9  The day was ending. The sun had set, and it was almost dark.
Pro 7:10  Suddenly, there she was in front of him, dressed like a prostitute. She had plans for him.
Pro 7:11  She was a wild and rebellious woman who would not stay at home.
Pro 7:12  She walked the streets, always looking for someone to trap.
Pro 7:13  She grabbed the young man and kissed him. Without shame, she looked him in the eye and said,
Pro 7:14  “I offered a fellowship offering today. I gave what I promised to give,
Pro 7:15  and I still have plenty of food left. So I came out to find you, and here you are!
Pro 7:16  I have clean sheets on my bed—special ones from Egypt.
Pro 7:17  My bed smells wonderful with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
Pro 7:18  Come, let’s enjoy ourselves all night. We can make love until dawn.
Pro 7:19  My husband has gone on a business trip.
Pro 7:20  He took enough money for a long trip and won’t be home for two weeks.”
Pro 7:21  This is what the woman said to tempt the young man, and her smooth words tricked him.
Pro 7:22  He followed her, like a bull being led to the slaughter. He was like a deer walking into a trap,
Pro 7:23  where a hunter waits to shoot an arrow through its heart. The boy was like a bird flying into a net, never seeing the danger he was in.
Pro 7:24  Now, sons, listen to me. Pay attention to what I say.
Pro 7:25  Don’t let your heart lead you to an evil woman like that. Don’t go where she wants to lead you.
Pro 7:26  She has brought down some of the most powerful men; she has left many dead bodies in her path.
Pro 7:27  Her house is the place of death. The road to it leads straight to the grave.

INTRODUCTION

In Christian marriage, every man must cleave to his own wife, and every wife cleaves to her own husband (Genesis 2:24), The Bible commends chaste matrimony in all sorts of men, and threatens utter destruction from God against whoremongers and adulterers (Hebrews 13:4).
OUTLINES:

  1. Meaning And Causes Of Marital Unfaithfulness
  2. Effects Of Marital Unfaithfulness And The Way Out

1. MEANING AND CAUSES OF MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS
Marital unfaithfulness talks about the inability of either or both of the partners in marriage to adhere to the vows and contract of marriage as stipulated by God. To be unfaithful is to lose the sense of commitment and dedication to one’s partner in all ramifications of it. Here are some of the likely causes of marital unfaithfulness: Failure to provide for the basic needs of the partner/home (1 1imothy 5:8); Infidelity – lack of belief in the position of the Word of God (Titus 1:17); Lack of contentment (1 Timothy 6:6); Bad company (1 Corinthians 15:33) and Lack of self-control (1 Corinthians 7:5; Titus 2:4,6).

#2 EFFECTS OF MARITAL UNFAITHFULNESS AND THE WAY OUT

Marital unfaithfulness leads to a lack of trust and insincerity among couples. It can result in hatred and bitterness (Proverbs 15:17). Due to the injection of strange blood through strange men or women, strange diseases may also be injected into the marriage system (Proverbs 6:20; 23:27). It brings about disunity which may lead to separation and eventually divorce (Matthew 19:1-9). Children in such homes learn corrupt and immoral acts and may grow up to become like their parents. It breaks down law and order and drives away peace from such homes (Proverbs 14:1, Jeremiah 6:14).

Hence, married couples must learn to mutually satisfy each other, be contented and appreciate each other throughout their lifetime (Proverbs 5:15-20). They must take the time to learn the love-making and the sexual need of each other. Love and mutual trust must not be compromised. Ultimately, the fear of God must rule and guide the heart of married couples (Ephesians 5:21; Proverbs 8:13: 2 Timothy 2:19).

CONCLUSION

If you are unfaithful in your marriage, be warned, that the wrath of God is imminent. Your marriage must remain honourable in all things.

Deborah The Warrior. RCCG Sunday School Manual

MEMORY VERSE: “And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.” – Judges 4:4

BIBLE PASSAGE: Judges 4:1-22 KJV

1 And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.

2 And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.
3 And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.
4 And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.
5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.
6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedeshnaphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
7 And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin’s army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.
8 And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, than I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, than I will not go.
9 And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.
10 And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.
11 Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.
12 And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.
13 And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.
14 And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.
15 And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.
16 But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.
17 Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.
18 And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.
19 And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.
20 Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.
21 Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.
22 And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples.

INTRODUCTION

Deborah, the wife of a man called Lapidoth was a prophetess and a judge of Israel. She lived in the 12th century BC and held her court under a tree called “the palm of Deborah” in Ephraim. Deborah’s story is found in Judges, chapters 4 and 5. Her story emphasizes God’s willingness to use men and women alike.

LESSON OUTLINES

  1. Character And Achievement
  2. Lessons From Deborah’s Life

1. CHARACTER AND ACHIEVEMENT

Apart from being an exceptional woman, we can say the following about Deborah. She had confidence in God and this made her bold enough for what seemed like a deadly assignment (Judges 4:6-7; Psalm 118:9). She judged under a palm tree, a setting that Rabbinic tradition maintains, that validated her fairness, openness and refusal to show partiality (Judges 4:5). She was considerate in her leadership role. She understood Barrack’s plight in refusing to go to battle alone against Jabin without her ( Judges 4:8-9).

Deborah was the only woman in the Bible to hold the position of prophetess and judge of Israel at the same time. When Deborah became judge, the Israelites had been subjected for 20years by Jabin, king of Cannan. She was relevant both in civil and religious affairs (Judges 4:4). She served during a time when none of the men were willing to lead. She was a successful judge and wife. The triumphant song of Deborah is one of the most ancient literary pieces in the Bible (Judges 5: 1-31). Under her guidance, barrack conquered Sisera’s army and delivered Israel from the oppression of the Canaanite King, Jabin. The Lord used her to set her people free.

2. LESSONS FROM DEBORAH’S LIFE

God often calls people to step out in faith to attempt the unexpected which may require great risk and effort on our part (Judges 4:6-7; 2 Corinthians 5:7). If God has a work for us and we turn it down, He will find someone else to do it (Judges 4:6-9). God’s work, when it is done in God’s way, brings triumphant songs (Judges 5). God often used unlikely people and sources to accomplish His plans like He used Jael (Judges 4:21; 1 Corinthians 1:27). We can see that God’s power is what matters, regardless of the instrument He chooses to use. Men or women, strong or weak, confident or hesitant – all are strong when they are moved by God’s Spirit and filled with His strength (Proverbs 21:31).

CONCLUSION: God is willing to use you if you make yourself available.

BIBLE PASSAGE: 2 Samuel 6:12-22
12 And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
13 And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.

14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might, and David was girded with a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
17 And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
18 And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.
19 And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed everyone to his house.
20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel today, who uncovered himself today in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
21 And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
22 And I will yet be viler than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.

INTRODUCTION

Dance is a performing art form consisting of a purposefully selected sequence of body movements. Dancing is one of those issues that have been questioned in the past. Some groups have viewed all forms of dance as evil. There are no Bible verses prohibiting us from dancing, rather, joyful dancing has been clearly documented in the Bible. However, dance can be used either as an act of worship to glorify God or for wrongful purposes. Youths should get the correct perspective and act wisely.

LESSON OUTLINES:

LESSON OUTLINE 1: DANCING IN THE BIBLE

The teacher should allow the class to mention instances of dancing in the Bible. He should guide the class through the following points:
A. There are instances of dancing in the Bible that can be categorised into two;
i. Dancing to God or with good intentions.
ii. Dancing to idols or with bad intentions.
B. There are appearances of God’s people dancing as an act of worship in the Bible
i. The first is found with Miriam the prophetess, Aaron’s sister (Exo. 15:20)
i. Another instance is found in 2 Samuel 6:16, which has David leaping a dancing before the LORD”
C. The implication of this is that Christian youths should dance as an act of worship unto God.
D. In the second category, the Israelites were found dancing before a golden calf in worship and being out of control, they danced naked (Exo 32:6, 19-25). In this case, dancing led to very sinful activity.
E. Hence, the fact that you can dance or are gifted in the art of dancing means that you should:
i. Dance to any kind of music.
ii. Dance at any occasion/gathering where God’s name is not proclaimed or
glorified (Eccl 3:4)
iii. This is because, in the process, you may be dancing before idols or to demon-inspired songs/beats.
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: The class should mention some of the demon-inspired songs/beats or dancing styles in vogue in our society today.

LESSON OUTLINE 2: THE CORRECT PERSPECTIVE

The teacher should ask the class to discuss how youth can dance in a godly and acceptable manner and should then guide the discussion from the following perspective:
A. Many Christians have forgotten that the Bible warns against end-time devices of Satan (2 Cor.2:11). Hence:
i. Christian youths should avoid sexually stimulating, indecent and seductive body movements while dancing so as not to create wrong impressions (2 Cor.12:19-20; Eph.4:17-19).
ii. Holding or touching of sensual parts of your body or the body of the opposite gender, in the name of dancing, should be avoided, as this could stimulate sexual urge and impure thoughts (1 Thess 5:22).
iii. Any dancing style that stirs up sinful thoughts or desires in you or in others is sinful.
iv. Dancing to bring attention to yourself or your body, therefore, would be sinful (1 Cor 6:19-20).
B. As long as the dance is decent, God-focused and praiseworthy, it can have a proper place in worship (Psalms 149:3).
C. It is important to understand that dance in the context of worship is not simply self-expression. It should be done in a way that is helpful to the entire congregation (Psalms 150:4).
D. Hence, anything during a worship gathering that distracts from a focus on Christ should be left out.
E. Moreover, the content of a song (lyrics) and the personality of the singer (whether he or she is a child of God) should be verified before you dance to such Songs/beats.
F. The believer’s focus for dancing must be to fulfil 1 Corinthians 10:31 which teaches, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: The teacher should ask one or two students to demonstrate the kind of dancing style discussed in category A of this outline and allow the class to discuss why such dance is ungodly.

SUMMARY: While the Bible teaches believers to dance as an art and act of worship to God, youths should be watchful so that the devil will not take advantage of their vulnerability.

CONCLUSION: You can dance in a way that does not tempt or lure others to sin. Let your dance bring glory to God.

EVALUATION: The teacher should ask students to mention the right perspective to dancing.

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, please let my dance be an acceptable offering to you.
ASSIGNMENT: Review your motive for dancing and its effect on others.

Joseph: Example Of An Excellent Youth.

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please give me an excellent spirit like Joseph.
MEMORY VERSE: “And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and overall that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.” – Genesis 39:5 (NKJV).

BIBLE PASSAGE: Genesis 41:25-42
25 And Joseph said unto Pharaoh, The dream of Pharaoh is one: God hath shewed Pharaoh what he is about to do.
26 The seven good kine are seven years; and the seven good ears are seven years: the dream is one.
27 And the seven thin and ill-favoured kine that came up after them are seven years; and the seven empty ears blasted with the east wind shall be seven years of famine.
28 This is the thing which I have spoken unto Pharaoh: What God is about to do he sheweth unto Pharaoh.
29 Behold, there come seven years of great plenty throughout all the land of Egypt:
30 And there shall arise after them seven years of famine; and all the plenty shall be forgotten in the land of Egypt; and the famine shall consume the land;
31 And the plenty shall not be known in the land by reason of that famine following; for it shall be very grievous.
32 And for that the dream was doubled unto Pharaoh twice; it is because the thing is established by God, and God will shortly bring it to pass.
33 Now therefore let Pharaoh look out a man discreet and wise, and set him over the land of Egypt.
34 Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, and take up the fifth part of the land of Egypt in the seven plenteous years.
35 And let them gather all the food of those good years that come, and lay up corn under the hand of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
36 And that food shall be for store to the land against the seven years of famine, which shall be in the land of Egypt; that the land perishes not through the famine.
37 And the thing was good in the eyes of Pharaoh, and in the eyes of all his servants.
38 And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?
39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according to unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;

INTRODUCTION

Joseph, the son of Jacob and Rachel, was born in Mesopotamia, (Gen 30:22-24) in B.C. 1747. His name means “the Lord shall add to me another son. He is memorable for the wonderful providence of God, which raised him from a prison to be the Prime Minister of Egypt and made him the honoured means of saving countless human lives. His history is one of the most pleasing and instructive in the Bible. It is too beautiful to be summarised. He died at the age of a hundred and ten, B.C. 1637. The story of Joseph spans through Genesis chapters 37-50.

LESSON OUTLINE:

  1. CHARACTER AND ACHIEVEMENTS
  2. LESSONS FROM HIS LIFE

LESSON OUTLINE 1: CHARACTER AND ACHIEVEMENTS
The teacher should allow the class to discuss the character and achievements of Joseph as a youth. He should guide the class through the following points:
A. Joseph character:
i. Joseph was a young man with unwavering faith, self-control, patience, discretion and loyalty in all aspects of life.
ii. Although he was arrogant with his brothers (Genesis 37:3-11), he developed humility in Egypt (Genesis 43:30;45:1-5).
iii. Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers who were jealous of him (Genesis 37:12-28).
iv. He had great faith in God (Genesis 41:14-16).
v. He had strong integrity and loyalty (Genesis 39:5-9).
vi. He believed that God would one day bring his dream to reality and did all he could to remain focused (Genesis 39:9).

B. Joseph’s achievements

i. God gave him the ability to interpret dreams (Genesis 40:5-19;41:14-28).

ii. He was made second in charge over all Egypt by Pharaoh (Genesis 41:38-45).
iii. He was certain it was not his brothers that had sent him to Egypt, but God (Genesis 50:20).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: What was it that brought the dramatic turn-around in Joseph’s life: his ability to interpret Pharaoh’s dream or divine providence?

LESSON OUTLINE 2: LESSONS FROM HIS LIFE
The teacher should ask the class to discuss the remarkable lessons youths should learn from the life of Joseph.

  1. Be humble. God sometimes bring adversities and trials into our lives to teach us humility (Genesis 37:28; Deuteronomy 8:3).
  2. God can turn into good any evil that people do against you (Genesis 50:20; Romans 8:28)
  3. Have integrity. No matter how great the temptation and fierce opposition appears, stay loyal and obedient to God (Gen. 39: 9-12; Psalm 119:11).
  4. Write down your God-given vision, dreams or plans, pray over it and be wisely guided in sharing with others (Genesis 37: 6-7; Habakkuk 2: 2-3).
  5. Focus on God, not the situation. Do not complain about your predicaments, rather, see them as an opportunity to serve others and minister wholeheartedly to their needs (Gen. 39:3-4; Phillip 2:14).
  6. Be God-dependent. Always acknowledge God as the source of your achievements and never take any credit for it (Gen. 45:8; 41:16; Prov. 3:5-6).
  7. Manage success. When God honours you with success and prosperity, you must not forget to first honour others (Gen. 45:1-5).
  8. Fully forgive. Set your heart to forgive those around you. This will heal your relationship and keep your heart free from bitterness and deep-rooted resentment from the past (Genesis 45:5-8; Ephesians 4:32).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: What is the key lessons that catch your attention from the life of Joseph?
SUMMARY: Joseph’s story and his encounter should stimulate youths to get focused, regardless of the prevailing circumstances, in the pursuance of their God-given dreams.
CONCLUSION: The Bible story of Joseph is one that teaches us to be courageous in the midst of some of life’s worst storms.
CLOSING PRAYER: Father, please do not let anything stop me on the journey to greatness.
ASSIGNMENT: Mention five (5) of the components of a godly character like Joseph with a Bible reference for each.

Understanding The Esther Generation. RCCG YAYA Manual

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please position me for greatness in life.

MEMORY VERSE: “I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and I perish, I perish” – Esther 4:16b (NKJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Esther 2:5-17
5 Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;
6 Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.
7 And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.
8 So it came to pass when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
9 And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
10 Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.
11 And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.
12 Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of there purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)
13 Than thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
14 In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
15 Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
16 So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
17 And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

INTRODUCTION
Esther, the main character in the book of Esther, was an orphan raised by her uncle, Mordecai (Esther 2:5-7). Her Hebrew name is Hadassah which means ‘myrlte’ – Rosy flower (Esther 2:7). Esther’s story and life is a case of humility, obedience, divine substitution, great favour, sacrifice and divine intervention, such that youths should learn from.

LESSON OUTLINES

  1. THE SPIRIT OF ESTHER
  2. LESSONS FROM HER LIFE

THE SPIRIT OF ESTHER
The teacher should allow the class to discuss the characters and achievements of Esther as a youth. He should guide the class through the points

A. Esther’s Character:
i. She became the queen of Persia in B.C 478, even a stranger in the land of captivity (Esther 2:17).

ii. She was a woman of faith and courage. This is evident in the way she handled the news of the death sentence resulting from Haman’s fury (Esther 4:16).
iii. She portrayed a selfless and sacrificial character that stood in the gap for her helpless kinsmen. She was willing to give her life in an attempt to save the Jews (Esther 4:16b).
iv. She was not driven with Zeal but rather, her faith in God gave her confidence.

Esther’s achievements:
i. Esther prayed, fasted and made the great sacrifice (Esther 5:1-4).

ii. She saved the Jews from the massacre planned by Harman (Esther 8:3-13).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: The teacher should ask the youths if they can take such a risk in the context of ‘if I perish, I perish in order to achieve an uncommon goal.

LESSONS FROM HER LIFE

The teacher should ask the class to discuss the remarkable lessons youths should learn from the life of Esther
A. Esther was from the ‘less privileged’ family group in Persia (Esther 2:21). Yet, she did not write herself off.
B. She contested for the position of a queen with everyone else, even as a foreigner.
C. Do not look down on yourself (1Tim. 4:12; Titus 2:15). You can do all thing through the power of the Holy Spirit in you (Phillip 4:13, 2Cor. 12:9).
D. Moreover:

  1. Esther became popular for being a resourceful and confident problem solver (Esther 8:3-13). Youths should not see themselves as weaklings, dependent and liabilities (Phillip 2:13, 4:13). They must be bold to face the challenges of life (Prov 28:1)
  2. Esther was obedient to a godly leader. Esther obeyed Mordecai in detail. Experienced godly leaders and matured Christian mentors are needed in the journey of life (Esther 4:13-16; 1Cor. 11:1)
  3. Just as Esther used the correct manner of approach to gain the attention and favour of the King, youths should also approach God or their leaders rightly to gain attention and favour (Psalm 100:4; Proverbs 24:3). God’s favour is highly required for breakthrough (Esther 2:9,17).
  4. When we need help, God is more than willing to help us if we ask him rightly (Isaiah 41:13, James 4:3). Faith and courage will often bring to us the things that we need (Matthew 21:22).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: What are you doing presently to be outstanding in your academics, career, business, sports ministry, youth fellowship, etc?

SUMMARY: The spirit of Esther is a dogged attempt to achieve an uncommon goal in the midst of difficult circumstances.
CONCLUSION: Regardless of your family or socio-economic background, God can make a great person out of you.

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, please give me the courage to achieve an uncommon goal in my generation.

ASSIGNMENT: When you find yourself in a leadership position, what are the five (5) germane issues you will address as a Christian youth?

Proven Ways Of Dealing With Addictions.

Ways Of Dealing With Addictions. 2/05/2021

BIBLE PASSAGE: Proverbs 31:1-7 (NKJV)
1 The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
2 What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
3 Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
4 It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
5 Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.
6 Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.
7 Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
MEMORY VERSE: “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are.

lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” 1 Corinthians 6:12 (NKJV).

LESSON INTRODUCTION

Addiction is a compulsive tendency developed over a period of continuous and repeated actions or exposures to a certain substance. People with addiction use substances or engage in behaviours that become compulsive and often continue despite harmful consequences. Addiction leads to characteristic biological, psychological, social and spiritual manifestations. Today, many youths are suffering from different forms of addiction. What is the way out?

TEXT REVIEW: Proverbs 31:2-7.
In this passage, king Lemuel reiterates his mother’s utterances:
A. The mother had warned her son, who is now a king-v2.
i. Against addiction to women. -v3a.
ii. Against things that destroy kings. -v3b.
iii. Against.
B. She emphasised the likely dangers of being addicted to alcohol:

iv. . …………………………………….. v7

LESSON OUTLINES

LESSON OUTLINE 1: TYPES AND SIGNS OF ADDICTIONS

The teacher should allow the class to discuss some types and signs of addiction common among youths and should guide the class through the following points:

A. Types of Addiction

  1. Substance addictions (Prov. 20:1; 23:29-35; Isa. 5:11-12; 28:7-8) e.g.drug abuse (cocaine, opioids-heroine, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, Tramadol, codeine, crack, inhalants, etc.), alcoholism, smoking (cigarette, tobacco, marijuana, nicotine), caffeine (coffee, coke, cola), etc.
  2. Behavioural or process addictions (1 Kings 11:4-5; Prov. 31:3; 1 Pet.4:3): This is an addiction to mood-altering behaviours such as gambling, cell
phone and social media, the internet, love and relationships, sexual activity (masturbation, sex, pornography, etc.), eating disorders, spending
shopping, watching television, video games, etc.
  3. Power addiction is a kind of addiction associated with power, influence and affluence (Prov. 28:15). People who are addicted to power tend to feel most powerful when they are dominating other people, with little patience for
anything that stands in the way of their upward path. They are often extremely competitive and have a devastating need to be right. Examples are King Saul (1 Sam. 19:1; 8-10) and King Hezekiah (Isa. 39:1-8).

B. SIGNS OF ADDICTIONS: Some signs of addiction may include:
i. Developing a strong desire to use substances.
i. Engaging in the problematic behaviour
iii. Appearing dirty.
iv. Inability to fulfil obligations at school, work or home.
v. Previously enjoyed hobbies are abandoned in favour of use of substances
vi. Withdrawal symptoms.
vii. A person with power addiction may experience obsession, extreme restlessness and in extreme cases, may resort to irrational, destructive behaviour such as manipulation or bribery to achieve goals and maintain the
‘high’.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Mention other forms of addiction not in the list above.

LESSON OUTLINE 2: THE WAY OUT

The teacher should ask the class to discuss possible ways of breaking free from addiction.

  1. Take a stand.
    a. You must, first of all, acknowledge that addiction is an affliction and you are already caught up in its web.
    b. Then, you must be willing to break free from it’s bondage while acknowledging that you cannot help yourself (Ps. 51:1-4).
  2. Seek help (James 5:13-16).
    a. You must open up to God (Prov. 3:4-5; 1 Pet. 5:7) and to people who can be of help in breaking the evil habit.
    b. Surrender yourself for proper screening and therapies (pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy and spiritual therapy).
  3. Avoid relapse. Relapse is to addiction what backsliding is to sin and its episode is usually worse than before the treatment/deliverance (Matt.12:43-45; 2Pet. 2:20-22).
  4. Keep your heart with all diligence (Prov. 4:23) and renew it daily (Rom.12:1-2; Eph. 4:22-23). Addiction is really a battle of the mind.
  5. You must avoid exposure to all forms of triggers (1 Cor.15:33; 2 Cor. 6:15-20; Eph. 5:11-12).
  6. Keep the company of those who can encourage you in your journey to total victor
  7. It is incumbent on the brethren not to cast away the victim at this critical time (Ps. 38:11) but to show him/her love and encouragement until the victory is won (2 Tim. 1:15-16; Ps.133:1-3).
