Introduction

Some people, called atheists, did not believe in or intentionally deny the existence of God. The Bible calls them ‘fools’ (Ps. 14:1). There are others who believe in the existence of many gods and consult with them based on peculiar needs; they are called polytheists. The Bible unequivocally teaches that there is only one God who created all things, sustains all things, and transcends all things. This is what we believe as Christians. It is worth noting that we do not worship or serve the same God as the people of other religions who also believe that there is only one “God”. Who then is our God and what makes Him unique?

Lesson Aim: To know who the God of the Christians is.

Teaching Objectives

Through this lesson, students should be able to:

a. Describe God as the uncreated Creator.

b. Identify His attributes and nature.

c. Describe the differences between him and other gods.

Teaching Plan

To achieve the above-stated objectives, the teacher should :

a. Allow the students to recite the memory Verse, read the Bible Passage, contribute to the discussion, and do class activities and assignments.

b. Allow the Assistant Teacher to see to the well-being of the class, and mark attendance and assignment.

c. Teach the lesson outlines, summarize, conclude, evaluate the lesson and give assignments.

Text Review: 1 Chron. 29:10-12.

Teachers should fill in the gaps from the passage during the preview exercise.

Teaching Method: Question and Answer method.

Time Management: The Teacher should apply two-lesson outlines of teaching time.

Lesson Outline 1: OUR GOD IS UNCREATED CREATOR

Question 1: Why is our God the uncreated Creator?

Answer: The Teacher should highlight the reasons our God is the uncreated Creator (Col. 1:17; Ps. 90:2) as follows:

iv. In our God, every creature receives life (John 5:26; Gen. 2:7).

v. Our God created and controls times and seasons (Gen. 1:14; Dan. 2:21a).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should mention why our God is the uncreated Creator.

Lesson Outline 2: Our God is Unique

Question 1: How unique is our God?

Note: The Teacher should first allow the students to answer the question in their own words before stressing the following points that are exclusive to our God.

Answer :

Keys To Knowing God. RCCG Sunday School Teachers

Opening Prayer: Father, give me the understanding of what I need to do to know you.

Bible Passage: Acts 17:22-27.

Previous Knowledge: The Teacher should review the lesson for the previous week.

Memory Verse: ” And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” – John 17:3.

Lesson Introduction

Within all of us, there exists a strong desire to be known. And to know others. More importantly, there is a void in every individual – a quest to know their creator, even if they are not professed believers in God. The Apostle Paul expressed his desire to truly know God (Phil. 3:10). It is, therefore, important to address the issue of seeking and truly knowing God.

Lesson Aim: To teach the students how to truly seek and know God.

Teaching Objectives

At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:

a. Understand that there is a part of man that longs to know his/her creator.

b. Know ways to seek God.

c. Discover and apply keys to truly knowing God.

Teaching Plan

To achieve the above-stated objectives, the teachers should:

a. Allow the students to recite the memory Verse, read the Bible Passage, contribute to the discussion, and do class activities, and assignments.

b. Allow the Assistant Teacher to see to the well-being of the class, and mark attendance and assignment.

c. Teach the lesson outlines, summarize, conclude, evaluate the lesson and give an assignment.

Text Review : 1 Chro. 29:10-12.

a. Apostle Paul discovered the idolatrous tendencies of the Athens Jews. In his address, he said:

I. He perceived that in all things they were superstitious…..v22.

ii. As he passed by …….v23a.

III. Whom therefore….v23b

b. He, therefore, declared saying

I. God that made…..v24a.

ii…….v24b.

III……v24c.

Iv. Neither…….v25.

v. And has made …..v26.

vi. That they should seek the Lord….v27a.

vii. Though……….v27b.

Teaching Method: The Lecture method.

Time Management: The Teacher should apply two-lesson outlines of teaching time.

Lesson Outline 1: Seeking God is Inevitable

A. Our desire to seek and know more of God is the essence of true life (Jn 17:3; Jer. 50:4).

B. The thoughts of God should be paramount in our minds because they will determine the value and direction of our lives ( Ps. 48:9; 63:6).

C. Seeking God, then, is an ongoing responsibility and privilege for all Christians (Job 5:8).

D. Therefore, the Scriptures admonish us to seek God:

I. Wholeheartedly ( Deut. 4:29).

ii. Early in life (Ps. 63:1; Eccl. 12:1).

iiii. Continually (Ps. 105:4).

iv. With joy (Ps.70:4).

v. By prayer and supplications.

vi. With fasting (Dan. 9:3).

viii. Through His righteousness (Matt. 6:33).

viii. By studying His word ( John 5:39).

E. Assuredly, those who seek God under the conditions stated above shall:

I. Find Him.  (Jer. 29:13).

ii. Be satisfied ( Matt. 5:6).

III. Understand all things (Prov. 28:5).

iv. Not lack any good thing (Ps. 34:10).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: The class should mention other ways through which we can seek God.

LESSON OUTLINE 2: Keys To Truly Knowing God

A. In an attempt to know God, we must :

I. Receive Jesus Christ into our lives (Jn. 1:12): Jesus makes it clear that he alone is the way to Heaven and personal knowledge of God. (Jn. 14:6-9).

ii. Understand that the Bible is God’s word and a revelation of Himself, His promises, and His will ( Jn. 1:1; Ps. 119:105). The Bible is essentially a love letter written to us from a loving God who created us to know Him intimately (2 Tim. 3:14-17).

III. Be committed to obeying what we read in the Scriptures ( Titus 1:16; Jn. 15:14). We were created to do good works (Eph. 2:10). Not only must we read and understand God’s word, but we must also apply doctrines obediently and remain faithful (James 1:21-22).

iv. Be committed to prayer, personal devotion, and fellowship with brethren (Heb. 10:25). and, always worship God in spirit and in truth (Jn. 4: 23-24).

v. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us always ( Romans 8:14; 26-27).

B. Then, our lives can be filled with God, and we can experience knowing Him intimately.

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Students should share with the class keys that have increased their knowledge of God.

SUMMARY: Seeking God is Inevitable, and there are ways to truly know God.

CONCLUSION: If we genuinely hunger and thirst to know God, He will reveal Himself to us.

EVALUATION: Students should state the key to truly knowing God.

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, empower me to pay the price to truly seek and know You.

ASSIGNMENT: Prayerfully follow the guidelines in today’s lesson and work on Yourself to seek God daily (No Mark).

Victory Over Sin. RCCG Sunday School Manual.

Memory Verse: “Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God”.- Romans 6:13.

Bible Passage: Romans 6:8-14.

Introduction

After Salvation, the deep cry of every heart should be for holiness, to be like Christ, to overcome sin and to live a blameless and holy life. Some Christians try to be holy and at times they do not succeed so they become discouraged. They become fearful of preaching holiness lest they be seen as preaching something they cannot practice. Some Christians have never even heard of the victorious life of holiness so they continue sinning and confessing from day to day. The Bible teaches glorious victory over sin for every believer. In John 5:4, John was not speaking about victory in Heaven but of victory on earth; daily victory over the world and the lusts thereof.

Lesson Outlines

  1. Claiming the Promises of God
  2. The choice to make

CLAIMING THE PROMISES OF GOD

Did God promise victory over sin for believers? He asked us to be holy as He is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16). He, however, added that without Him we can do nothing (John 15:5). That is, without His assistance, we cannot live a holy and victorious life. Therefore, He decreed that sin shall not have dominion over us (Romans 6:14), that we shall conquer sin through Him (Romans 8:37), for He will cause us to triumph always through Christ (2 Cor. 2:14).

When God promises anything, He will do it. I am to believe the following facts that are established in the word of God:

  1. I died with Christ (Gal. 2:20). Death frees a man once and for all from the power and dominion of sin (Romans 6:7).. A dead man cannot steal, fornicate, covet or commit any other sin.
  2. I was buried with Him (Romans 6:4). All that is evil in me should remain permanently buried.
  3. I rose with Christ (Romans 6:5). Christ rose with a glorified body over which sin can have no power or dominion. Since I rose with Him, sin can no longer have dominion over me.
  4. I have the power to live triumphantly with Him (Romans 6:8).

The Choice To Make

As a Christian, I still have my own free will. I can choose or reject a life of victory over sin. If I choose victory, I certainly may have it as a gift from the Lord. If it is true that I am dead to sin with Christ, then, there is only one thing for me to do and this is to yield myself to God(Romans 6:13). If I do this, then I can assume my new position by faith as someone who is “alive from the dead”. It is no, longer a question of fighting sin but a matter of yielding to a more powerful force, the power of the resurrected Christ. The choice, however, is entirely mine to either yield to sin or to Christ (Romans 6:15). If I yield to Christ, I shall be free from the power of sin (Romans 6:18). If I yield to sin, I shall go down from iniquity to iniquity (Romans 6:19).

CONCLUSION: Probably you have tried to live victoriously before and you have failed. What should be done now? 1 John 1:9 is still true. Jesus jas never failed, Your failure has not weakened Christ. Obey the commands of the Spirit as He directs you in your daily routine.

QUESTIONS

  1. Is it possible to live a life of victory over sin? How?
  2. Name two promises of God on this issue.

Doctrine Of The Trinity. RCCG Sunday School Manual.

Memory Verse: “For there are three that bear record in Heaven, the father, the Word and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one”- 1 John 5:7.

Bible Passage: Mattew 3:16-17

Introduction

The Doctrine of the Trinity is foundational to the Christian faith. It is the revelation of who our Almighty God is. God is an infinite Being, existing eternally as three co-equal and infinitely distinct Persons also called the Godhead; God the Father, God the son and the Holy Spirit. The origin of the doctrine of the Trinity is the Bible, although the word trinity is not used in the Bible. The word “Trinity’ was coined by one of the early Church fathers, the name “Tertullian”. This doctrine is called “Trinitarianism” and its adherents are called “Trinitarians”. The focus of this study is to clarify the concept of the Trinity by providing the biblical basis for it with further clarifications.

OUTLINES

  1. Biblical Basis
  2. The Explanation

BIBLICAL BASIS

The Old Testament provides glimpses of the Trinity. For example, the Hebrew word for God -“Elohim”- is a plural form of the word “El”: Hence, in Genesis 1:26, God says (in the plural) “Let us make man in our image”. When God created the Heavens and the earth, Jesus was the instrument of God’s creation (John 1:1-3; Col. 1:15-16), in the company of the Holy Spirit who hovered over the waters (Gen. 1:2; Genesis 11:7) “Go to, let us go down…” also provides us with the evidence of the three -in-oneness of God. The Torah (the first five books of the Old Testament, also called the Law or the Pentateuch) hinted at the idea of God existing in three Persons and predicted His coming in the flesh (Gen. 49:10) to be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). He is not only God’s Son (Is. 9:6) but a Messiah who would be God in the flesh (Zech. 2:10-11).

From the very beginning of the church in the New Testament, Christians understood the mystery of the Trinity. For example, John the beloved knew the Son was the Creator (John 1:1-3), the “I Am” of the Old Testament  (John 8:58; Ex. 3:14), same with the Father (John 10:30; 5:22). who is to be worshipped as only God is allowed to be (Matt. 14:33). Also, the first Christians knew the Holy Spirit was a separate Person (John 14:26) who intercedes for us with God (Romans 8:26-27), proving He is a distinct Person from God the Father. The early believers knew that the Father and the Son sent the Third Person of the Trinity, the Holy Spirit-” another Comforter”- to live in our hearts (John 14:16-17; 26; 16:7).

New Testament Writers mention all three Persons of the Trinity together numerous times. For instance:

  1. At Jesus’ BaptismMatt. 3:13-17 (voice of the Father, Son baptised, Spirit descending like a dove).
  2. At Salvation- 1 Peter 1:2 (chosen by the Father, sanctified by the Spirit, sprinkled with the blood of Jesus).
  3. At Sanctification – 2 Cor. 13:14 (grace of the Lord Jesus, love of God, Fellowship of the Holy Spirit).
  4. At Christians Baptism- Matt. 28:19 (Baptised in the name, yet, three Persons -Father, Son and Holy Spirit).

For a witness- 1 John 5:7- For there are three that bear record in Heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one.

LESSON OUTLINE 2: THE EXPLANATION

We do not believe in three Gods which is a heresy called “Thritenism”.

We do not believe that the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are three ‘forms’ of God- like steam, water, and ice. There is Heresy called “Modalism”. The egg is comprised of three-part, the yellowish part, the whiteish part, and the shell. Despite this, the egg is not three but one.

The Doctrine of the Trinity holds that:

God is “One Being” but ‘three Persons.” The ‘Three persons’ define who God is (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) while the ‘one Being” defines what God is (Infinite, Omnipresent, Omniscient, etc.

God has ‘one nature but ‘three centres of consciousness. This means the Father is God (Gal. 1:1), and the Son is God (Acts 5:3-

They are not three gods but only one God (Deut. 6:4).

The Father is not the Son, the Son is not the Spirit, the Spirit is not the Father, but each is God individually and yet they are together, co-equal, co-eternal, having precisely the same nature and attributes (Almighty, unchangeable, infinitely powerful, wise, just, holy etc). and worthy of precisely the same worship, confidence and obedience.

Spiritual Sacrifices: RCCG Sunday School Teachers

Opening Prayer: Father, give me the understanding of what I need to do to know you.

Previous Knowledge: The teacher should allow the Assistant teacher to review the lesson for the previous week.

Memory Verse: ” We also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual storehouse, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ”. – 1 Peter 2:5.

Bible Passage: Hebrews 13:15-16.

Lesson Introduction

The Christian faith, like every other religion, involves components like a Tempe, altar, and sacrifices (Gen. 4:3-4; 8:20; 1 Sam. 1:9). Spiritual Sacrifices, however, replaced the material sacrifices of the Old Covenant (Ex. 29:36). No longer do we offer bulls, goats and lambs on the altar (Heb 10:1-11). Our worship today involves the offering of spiritual Sacrifices. what are the spiritual Sacrifices and who qualifies to offer them acceptably?

Lesson Aim

To teach spiritual sacrifice, especially as pivotal to the Christian faith.

Teaching Objectives

Through this study, students are expected to:

a. Know what spiritual sacrifice is.

b. Identify the elements of Spiritual sacrifice.

c. Discover who can offer it.

d. Distinguish between material and spiritual sacrifice.

Teaching Plan

To achieve the above-stated objectives, the teacher should:

a. Allow the students to recite the memory verse, read the bible passage, contribute to the discussion, and do class activities and assignments.

b. Allow the Assistant Teacher to see to the well-being of the class, and mark attendance and assignment.

c. Teach the lesson outlines, summarise, conclude, evaluate the lesson and give assignments.

TEXT REVIEW

In the above text, the writer admonishes believers to offer two kinds of spiritual sacrifice.

i. The sacrifice of………………………….v15a.

That is ………………………………..v15b.

ii. The sacrifice of ……………………………v16a.

Because………………………………..v16b.

Teaching Method: The Lecture Method.

Time Management: The teacher should apply two-lesson outlines of teaching time.

LESSON OUTLINES

LESSON OUTLINE 1: WHAT ARE SPIRITUAL SACRIFICES

  1. Spiritual Sacrifices are:

a. Continuous offerings from believers to God in faith.

b. They are words or deeds motivated by a desire to glorify God alone (Heb. 13:16).

2. Just as the smoke of the incense ascended to the sanctuary in the Old Testament, so our spiritual Sacrifices ascend to God (Ps. 141:2; Revelation 5:8).

3. These include the believer’s prayers, praise, will, body, time, treasures, talents and spiritual gifts.

4. Therefore:

i. The fact that the incense was always burning means we should always pray (Luke 8:1; 1 Thess. 5:17).

ii. Fasting is also a spiritual sacrifice that aids the believers’ prayer (Dan. 9:3).

iii. God created us to praise Him, and we must offer the “sacrifice of praise to Him continually (Heb. 13:15).

iv.  Just as Jesus surrendered His will to the Father (Luke 22:42), so should we, though it’s an ongoing battle (Romans 7:18-20).

v. Our talents and spiritual gifts are from God and should be offered for the perfecting of the saints, the work of the ministry, and the edification of the body of Christ (Eph. 4:7,12).

vi. Our treasures (Financial/material resources) contribute to the spiritual Sacrifices to be offered to God, the kingdom work on earth, the ministers of God, and the people in need (Phil. 4:18; Prov. 19:17; Gal. 6:10).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should share with the class the spiritual sacrifices they have made to God.

How To Offer Acceptable Spiritual Sacrifices

Believers constitute the new priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). Therefore, to offer Acceptable spiritual Sacrifices:

i. We must appear before God is sanctified (Ps. 24:3-4; Lev. 10:1-3).

ii. we must present our bodies as ” living sacrifices (Romans 12:1-2; Gal. 2:20).

a.  Our bodies are the temple of the Lord (1 Cor. 6:18-20).

B.  The believer’s body is yielded to God as an instrument of righteousness (Romans 6:12-13; 8:11-13).

3. This implies that we are to maintain good sexual boundaries (Eph. 5:3).

ii. Refuse to use our bodies for theft or to bring harm to another person (1 Peter 4:15; Col. 3: 12-13).

B.  Spiritual Sacrifices must be offered:

i. obediently (1 Sam..15:22),

ii. willingly (2 Cor. 9:6).

iii.  cheerfully (2 Cor. 9:7)

iv. Timely (Eccl. 11:6)

v. In reverence to God (Mal. 1:8).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Students should narrate how they offered a spiritual sacrifice in a timely manner.

SUMMARY: Spiritual sacrifices are part of the Christian’s worship and must be offered on God’s terms to be acceptable.

CONCLUSION: Sacrifice is part and parcel of worship. Jesus promised us rewards for every kind of action done in His name (Mark 9:41).

EVALUATION: Teachers should ask the students to list three ways to offer an acceptable sacrifice unto the Lord.

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, let my whole life be a pleasing sacrifice unto You.

Restitution. RCCG Sunday School Manual

Memory Verse: And Zaccheaus stood and said unto the Lord, Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; abd if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold ” – Luke 19:8.

Bible Passage: Lev. 6: 1-7.

Introduction

Restitution is an act of putting right what has been done wrongly and repairing or giving any equivalent to loss or damage . It is strictly enjoined in scripture , and it is neccesary evidence of true repentance. This is also a very important step for every believer for a clear conscience and good testimony.

Restitution At Various Dispensations

The doctrine of restitution has been taught at various Dispensations. Before the law, Jacob restituted his ways (Gen. 32:9-32). It was in operation under the law (Lev. 6:2-5; Numbers 5:6-8; Ex. 22:1-5) and during the period of the kings and the prophets as well (2 Samuel 12:1-6; 2 Kings 8:1-6). This principle of the unchanging Lord is operative at this dispensation of grave as well, tight from the times of Jesus Christ and the apostles until now (Luke 19:8-10; Phil. 7:21).

The Blessings of Restitution

Dangerous as it may be, if one fails to restitute his or her ways before the Almighty God and his fellow men, the blessings are however numerous and diverse if one obeys. Examples include Abraham (Gen. 13:14-18). Joshua and the conquest of Ai, which initially looked impossible despite it’s small size until the sin of Achan was restituted (Joshua 7 compare with God’s promises to Joshua at his commissioning in Joshua 1:1-4).

Other blessings include open heavens (Mal. 3:8-11). God promised to destroy every devourer on behalf of every honest and faithful tithe payer and release blessings through open heavens.. There shall be health for the true believer (James 5:14-16). Heaven , the abode of God, shall become the inheritance of the faithful keeper of the doctrine. Heaven is clean and no unclean thing will enter it (Heb. 12:14).

Conclusion

Much as restitution like any other doctrine of Christ is worth contending for by every Christian , Godly wisdom is, however needed for the purposes of guidance, right timing and peace. We need to be humble enough for this guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Questions

1. Justify restitution at various Dispensations.

2. Mention some of the blessings of restitution.

Gifts Of The Holy Spirit.

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please endow me with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leader should ask members to mention the fruit of the Spirit learnt in the previous lesson.

MEMORY VERSE: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” – James 1:17

BIBLE TEXT: Galatians 5:13-24 (KJV)

1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.

2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.

3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost.

4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.

5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.

6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.

7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;

10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body?

20 But now are they many members, yet but one body.

21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: There is a lot of difference between natural talents and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are special gifts given by the Spirit to believers to equip them for the work of the ministry and build up the body of Christ and God’s Kingdoms. There are many of these gifts and they are all available today as in the time of the Apostles.

LESSON AIM: To have deeper understanding of the gifts of Holy Spirit.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:
i. Know what the gifts of the Holy Spirit entails.
ii. Know new abilities receive when we deplore the gifts into use.
TEXT REVIEW: 1 CORINTHIANS 12:1-21.
i. The manifestation of the Spirit is to help the Church to progress.
ii. The distribution of those gifts is done by the Holy Spirit.
iii. Holy Spirit decides which gift each person should have.
iv. God works in our lives in different ways and different time.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE: HOW MANY KINDS OF GIFTS ARE THERE?

There are various kinds of gifts of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 lists some of them as the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment, tongues, and interpretation of tongues. This list consists of nine gifts. According to Ephesians 4:11, ministerial gifts were mentioned, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, all these are to be used to equip the body of Christ and for the perfection of the saints. Ephesians 4:12.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: SHOULD WE DESIRE THE GIFTS?

The answer is given in 1 Corinthians 12:31. We are not just to desire them; we are to covet them. This is only covetousness that have divine blessing. Do not be satisfied with just one or two gifts. Seek and pray for others that will help you in the particular position He has given you in the body. In the parable of the talents, the man who was originally given five gained five more and the unused one was given to him as extra. He ended up with eleven talents. Initially, you may have one or two gifts. Try and identify them and then keep on seeking for more to use for His glory.

LESSON OUTLINE THREE: WHAT SHOULD BE DONE WITH THE GIFTS?

We are to use any gift given to us, 1 Timothy 4:14, some people hide their gifts because they consider them inferior to others. This can be very dangerous as the parable of talents shows. Not only, are we to use the gifts, we are also to improve on them, 2 Timothy 1:6. The gifts need constant usage to be advantageous to the Kingdom of God.

ACTIVITY: What do you understand by gifts of words of knowledge and wisdom.

CONCLUSION: Have you any gift? Have you been using them? Are they lost or you want to regain them? Or you want more? Why not talk to God about it.

PRAYER POINTS:

  1. Father, thank You because all good gifts are from You.
  2. Father, I need the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Please, pour them into my life.
  3. O Lord, help us in RCCG and the entire body of Christ to utilise our gifts appropriately.
  4. Pray for the growth of RCCG numerically, spiritually and materially.
  5. Father, I shall not loose my gifts.

Virtue. RCCG Sunday School Manual.

Bible Verse: ” According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”– 2 Peter 1:3.

Bible Passage: 2 Peter 1:3-7

Introduction

There are two root words in Greek translated virtue. The first is “dunamis” as in Luke 6:19; 8:46 meaning “miraculous power”. The second is “arete” meaning “moral excellence” or “goodness”. A virtue is a right inner disposition, and a disposition is a tendency to act in a certain way. It is not a sudden impulse but a settled habit of mind. Virtues are general character traits that provide inner sanctions on our particular motives, intentions and outward product.

 Lesson Outlines

1. How to achieve virtue (Excellence)

2. The desire to excel

Our God is excellent in all ways (Ps. 76:4; Matt. 5:48). He expects His children to be like Him. (Gen. 17:1; 1Peter 1:15-16). Hence, the main aim of a Christian should be to walk to please God. Virtue is attainable only I’d we follow the divine guidelines (Phil. 4:8).

2Peter 1:5-7 tell us how to achieve virtue. It is like a ladder;the attaining of one leads to the next, and so on. The sequence begins with faith and ends with love. Without faith, nobody can have virtue. Faith supplies moral excellence as taught in the Bible (Heb. 11:6). After we have attained some knowledge, we add self control, or self discipline. This is the opposite of the excess of the world.

Perseverance means to view the unfolding of time with God’s eyes. (2 Peter 3:8-9; Heb. 12:2; Matt. 6:33). Godliness means that we have a very practical awareness of God in every aspect of our life (1 Timothy 6:6: 2 Peter 1:3). Kindness is described here as ‘philadelphia’, the kind of love that we have for brothers and sisters. The most magnificent virtue of all: Christian love. These love is ” agape” abd results in self-sacrificing action for another (1 Cor. 13; John 3:16; 1 John 3:16).

The Desire To Excel

The desire to excel comes with the recognition of excellence and the consciousness of falling short of it. The goal is to be like Jesus Christ because He is the glory of God revealed ( Heb. 1:3; John 17; Romans 3:23 ). This desire to excel also involves a willingness to work hard towards perfection (Luke 10:17-20; Matt. 17: 15-21). There must also be a willingness to be taught, not only by those who are in a higher position but by anyone regardless of position or age (1 Cor. 1:19-29).

CONCLUSION

Now we see that if we indeed have these virtues as an integral part of our being, and if they continue to increase as we apply them, then we lead a useful, fruitful life for Christ.

QUESTIONS

1. What is the will of God for his children?

Political Dominion. RCCG Sunday School Manual.

Memory Verse: “And hast made us unto our God kings and priests and we shall reign on the earth”- Romans 5:10.

Bible Passage: Genesis 1: 26-28.

Introduction
The word Dominion means “rule or power over”. God has sovereign power over His creation and has also delegated the authority to mankind to have dominion over the works of His Hands. (Gen. 1:26; Ps. 8:6). However, some Christians are passive and do not see that God wants the Church to take charge of and revamp their societies. Instead, they only see the command for believers to preach the gospel as in Matt. 28:19-20 and wait for God to implement social reforms himself.

OUTLINES

  1. Dominion Theology
  2. Disposition Of Christians To Political Dominion.

Dominion Theology

Dominion Theology refers to a line of thought with regard to the role of the church in contemporary society. It holds that Christians should rule all areas of society, personal and corporate by the Law of God. This belief is based on Genesis 1:28, which says, “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion..”. This verse is a divine mandate to claim dominion over the earth, physically, spiritually, economically, politically etc. (Luke 19:13). This theological idea about Christians having political dominion has its root in the nature of God and reality, the importance of justice, the value of freedom, and a rich understanding of the human person as created in the image of God (Ps. 82:6; John 10:34), made for flourishing (Psalms 92:12-13), and called to an eternal destiny (Romans 8:30).

Disposition Of Christians To Political Dominion

The political docility of Christians of the early church could be traced to the fact that Isreal and some gentile nations were under the colonial rule of the Roman Empire and Christians were thought to be in subjection to the authorities that be (Romans 13:1) at best, they were to pray for those in power and could not participate in the politics of their time (1 Timothy 2:1-2). This might have been responsible for why Christians hesitate to be actively involved in the politics of our days, whereas, the God we believe in and serve is interested in the way the world is governed (Genesis 1:28).

Satan stole the “key of dominion” when he deceived Adam and Eve. Then, when Christ gave the “key of the kingdom” to Peter in Mattew 16:19, it was a sign that dominion had been returned to man, Now it is our job to “take back” what is rightly ours. Political dominion is a must for Christians and not an option because the earth is our place of dominion, not Heaven (Ps. 115:16). Christians have to occupy strategic political positions to be at the helm of affairs for positive influence.

While it is true that we belong to a heavenly kingdom that is not of this world, we are still numbered among the people in this world and are subjected to the rules and systems of its government (John 17:15-16). We indeed seek another home(Hebrews 11:10,14,13:14) but that should not be an excuse to be nonchalant about our present abode and refuse to take responsibility for its governance (Psalms 115:16). It is also true that the world is passing away (1 Cor. 7:31), but we should not forget that we will also give an account of how it is managed before it passes away (1 John 2:17).

Therefore, it should be of concern to Christians to be a part of “high-level” decision-making processes to ensure that justice is done, biblical principles are upheld and the Christian faith survives and its preserved (Ps. 33:5; Micah 6:8). As the salt and light of the world (Matt. 5:13-16), when we engage ourselves in politics and government, we speak out for those who cannot speak and defend the rights of the poor and needy (Prov. 31:8-9).

CONCLUSION

All Christians are political whether we realise it or not. If we choose not to engage in politics, it is a vote for the status quo-the way things are.

QUESTIONS

  1. Explain Dominion theology.
  2. Mention three (3) dispositions of Christians to political dominion.

ASSIGNMENT

Students should list five (5) reasons some Christians are afraid of being involved in Politics (2×5=10Marks).

The second us “arete” meaning “moral excellence” or “goodness”. A virtue is a right inner disposition , and a disposition is a tendency to act in a certain ways. It is not a sudden impulse but a settled habit of mind. Virtues are general character traits that provide inner sanctions on our particular motives, intentions and outward product.

1. How to achieve virtue (Excellence)

2. The desire to excel

God Chastening. RCCG Sunday School Manual.

Memory Verse: if ye endure Chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not “. – Heb. 12:7.

Bible Passage: Heb. 12:5-12

Introduction

To chasten is to correct or discipline someone, often with the use of some pretty sharp punishment for the purpose of moral improvement (Prov. 19:18; 23:13). We need to consider God’s Chastening and what He (God) as our Father expects from us in response to the chastisement we receive from Him (Deut 8:5). Note that chastisement is not meant for destruction. A parent chastises the child he it she loves (Prov. 3:12: 13:24).

Lesson Outlines

1. Purpose of Divine Chastening

2 Biblical examples

Purpose Of Divine Chastening

God Chastening is an expression of His love which He uses to check us and to ensure that as His children , we are living Right with Him. Though painful, it eventually yields the fruit of righteousness (Heb. 12:11). It is a test of true love: a corrective measure and not a punitive one (2 Samuel 7:14-15; Psalms 118:18). It is also to help us to grow and bring about revival in the church (Heb. 12:10). Divine Chastening brings about restoration in order for us to continually have fellowship with God and ultimately reign with him (Is. 26:16) .It is to prepare us as vessels unto honour for God’s use (2 Tim. 3:16-17).  We must not despise God’s Chastening as dear children lest we be condemned with the world.(Prov. 3:11; 1 Cor. 11:32).

Biblical Examples

We need to consider some characters in the Bible that endured God’s Chastening and became better for it. They include:

1. David : God chastened him for committing adultery for Bathsheba and killing Uriah her husband. (2 Samuel 11:4; 16-17; 12:19-20,18-20).

Nebuchadnezzar – God dealth with him for ascribing the glory due God to himself. He was later restored after acknowledging God as the Almighty (Daniel 4: 29-36).

3. Moses- Moses was chastised for not fully believing God with regards to his calling and failing to observe the token of God’s covenant with Abraham ( Ex. 4:14; 24-28; Gen. 17:11).

4. Paul- God chastised Saul for persecuting the church , bit he was restored as a chosen vessel ( Acts 9:1-16).

5. Jonah – For attempting to run from his responsibility towards the salvation of the city of Nineveh, God made a fish to swallow him for three days and he repented (Jonah 1:1-4; 17;2:10;3:1-2).

CONCLUSION

If we fail to yield to God’s Chastening , the consequences can be grievous. Let us learn from the examples of Eli (1 Sam. 2:30; 3:12-13;4:17) and King Saul (1 Sam. 15:26;16:1).

LESSON OUTLINE 1: SPEAKING IN AN UNKNOWN TONGUE AND THE GIFT

A. The ability to speak in an unknown tongue, as well as the gift of diverse kinds of tongues, is given by the Holy Spirit.

i. It is distinctive of the present Holy Spirit dispensation and it began with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost. Acts 2:1-4.

ii. It is not to be bought with money or learnt.

B. However, we need to distinguish between the two. While every believer is expected to speak in an unknown tongue (Acts 19:1-6) not all may receive the gift of diverse kinds of tongues (1 Cor. 12;10).

i. While every believer is expected to speak in an unknown tongue (Acts 19:1-6) not all may receive the gift of diverse kinds of tongues (1 Cor. 12:10).  Note that both can take place simultaneously for some believers, as happened to the disciples on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2:4-12).

ii. When a believer speaks in an unknown tongue, he speaks mysteries (unto God) which cannot be understood by men (1 Cor. 14;2), however, God can speak through one with the gift of diverse kinds of tongues to men with interpretations where necessary (Acts 2:4-6).

iii. Speaking in an unknown tongue is for self-edification (1 Cor. 14:4) while diverse kinds of tongues (when interpreted) edify the church or those around (Acts 2:7-10).

CLASS ACTIVIty 1: Why do you think some people mock those who speak in unknown tongues according to Acts 2:13?

  2. Self-edification: It stirs up a believer’s faith (1 Cor. 14:4; Jude 20).
  3. It is a means of yielding our tongue to God. No man can tame the tongue but God (James 3:8). By the Holy Spirit, the whole body can change, including the tongue.
  4. It is a weapon of spiritual warfare (1 Cor. 14:2).
  5. It assists believers to sing, praise and give thanks to God (1 Cor. 14:15).

BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE

A. Human rights include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, and many more.

B. Everyone is entitled to these rights without discrimination.

C. Therefore, our rights, as Christians, including the fact that:

  1. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. Therefore, all people in Christ are one and equal before God regardless of race, ethnicity, wealth, social class, status and gender (Gen. 1:17, Gal. 3:26-28).
  2. Everyone, including Christians, has the right to life, liberty and security of person. As Christians, we must guard this right and be concerned about the affirmation of life, liberty and security of the oppressed so that every person may live life in its fullness (Luke 4:16-19; Gal. 5:13-19).
  3. Everyone (including Christians) has the right to recognition before the law everywhere (as a person), regardless of citizenship status (Acts 22:22-27).
  4. Everyone (including Christians0 is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and any criminal charge against him. Hence, every believer is entitled to a fair and just judicial process (Luke 18:2-5; Deut. 1:15-18).

Quotes on Marketing Automation To Help You Boost Your Business

Marketing automation has exploded in the last decade, and it’s only continuing to rise as more and more companies recognize its utility. But not everyone understands how it works, what benefits it can provide, or how to make it effective.

That’s why we’ve gathered these eight quotes on marketing automation that will help you gain insight into how this technology works, why so many companies are beginning to use it, and how you can benefit from marketing automation in your own business strategy.

What is Meant by Marketing Automation?

A quick definition of marketing automation from Gleanster: Marketing automation is a category of software that allows you to manage, organize and track your digital marketing efforts.

That means every time you interact with a lead or customer – whether it’s an email, phone call or social post – you can capture all information in one place. It also includes analytics tools that help you understand who’s responding to which channels.

#1 Get Ready To Be Smarter

If you aren’t already using marketing automation software, now’s a good time to take another look. Such programs can help you do things like identify your best leads and nurture them into customers over time, while you focus your sales efforts elsewhere.

Here are some of our favorite quotes on marketing automation that will hopefully get you thinking about how such tools could work for your business:

Marketing is no longer about interrupting people. It’s about engaging with them at every stage of their journey in order to build relationships that lead to more meaningful interactions and deeper connections.

In other words, it’s not just about selling anymore; it’s about nurturing relationships with prospects so that they become advocates for your brand or product.

#2 Start From Where You Are

Our lives, like our businesses, aren’t built in a day. Focus your energy on what’s directly in front of you and don’t dwell too long on where you want to be at some point in an unknowable future.

Success is often about adapting and changing your approach based on real-time data and feedback—and, sometimes, about just doing your best under certain circumstances.

#3 Build Relationships with Customers

Simply sending email isn’t marketing automation. Good marketing automation is about fostering relationships with your customers over time, so that when you need their attention or want them to act, they feel like you’re speaking directly to them.

The ultimate goal of marketing automation is to nurture a long-term relationship with your customer and convert them into a loyal buyer – not just that one-time clicker who comes across an ad once. To do that effectively, you have to develop meaningful relationships with people over time.

#4  Capture Their Data Now

If you’ve ever dreamed of being data-driven, marketing automation can make your dream a reality. This powerful, software-based platform is designed to collect all of your clients’ personal information, making it easy for you and your staff to reach out and connect with customers at a moment’s notice.

Everything from their demographic information (age, gender) and purchasing history (brands they love) is stored in a central database.

#5 Let The Customer Decide

One of marketing automation’s greatest strengths is that it allows you to make data-driven decisions. There is no better way for a business leader (or a marketer) to understand their potential customers than letting them decide what they want—and then giving it to them.

They’re not just buying your product; they’re giving you feedback about how you can be better in future. Be grateful, take advantage of it, and optimize for greater success!

#6 What Is Being Said About Your Brand?

Today, businesses have more ways than ever before to engage their customers. One of those tools is marketing automation—software that allows you to send personalized emails and texts, as well as other messages, based off who your potential customer is and what they’re doing with your brand. A few thought leaders weigh in with their opinions on what makes marketing automation such a valuable tool for businesses big and small.

#7  Think Bigger

To build a successful marketing automation system, you need to start with a plan. Building one from scratch can be intimidating; it’s easy for something that seems like a small task (like putting together an email template) to snowball into an overwhelming mess.

To keep yourself on track and your project manageable, use these quotes as inspiration for writing out your goals and keeping them in mind as you move through each step of implementation.

#8 Set Up Systems That Work For You

There are many systems available that can help you market more efficiently. The two most popular are email marketing and social media marketing. These two systems work together well, so having one without the other is not ideal.

Remember that in order for these systems to work for your business, you have to constantly feed it with fresh content—which takes up a lot of time. It’s better to find what works for you and stick with it than jump from system to system hoping something will be better than nothing at all.
