KEY VERSE: Mark 12:30-31

Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”… Love your neighbour as yourself.” There is no commandment greater than these. ” (NIV)

Focus

The Bible says that by demonstrating a complete love for God and selfless love for others, a person will fulfil all of God’s laws and expectations. Of course,

it’s not the laws that save us, nor is it our own love. It’s God’s love that made the way for our relationship with Him. And it’s that relationship that enables us to love God and people in a way that would otherwise be humanly impossible.

This week’s study will help students investigate what it means to love God with every aspect of their being.

The study also highlights another commonly quoted but often misunderstood passage of the Scripture: “Do to others what you would have them do to you” (Matt 7:12).

As you prepare for the study, consider your level of love for God and others. Consider some of the choices you face right now and ask yourself: “Which course of action best demonstrates love for God and for others?” Then make decisions based on God’s laws of love.

The Basic Message: Explain to students…

 WHAT’S THE BIG IDEA?

By loving God completely and others selflessly, we fulfill all God’s laws.

 WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Wholehearted love for God naturally results in a selfless love for others.

HOW DO I LIVE IT?

Give God the love He deserves and treat others the way you would like to be treated.

Activity Option: Read or have volunteers read the following passages and note what they tell us about the relevance of God’s Laws today:

• Psalm 19:7- God’s law is perfect and trustworthy.

Matt 24:35- God’s Word is the one thing that stands forever.

Matt 5:17 – Jesus didn’t come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it. People who disregard it will lose their place in God’s kingdom.

Guide: Explain that laws constantly change, adapting to society and culture. But God’s guidelines for living will never change.

Though some Bible passages pertain specifically to cultural issues of the time, the principles of God’s timeless commands apply today as they did when He issued them.

Study Overview: Explain that today’s study considers…

• How Jesus sums up what it takes to keep all God’s commands.

• What it means to love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.

• What it means to treat others the way we would like to be treated.

Inform and Discuss

a). Love God Completely

Teacher Hint: Read or have a volunteer read Matt 22:36-40. Explain that God wants us to choose to love Him with every aspect of our being.

In this session, we will consider what these different aspects of our being represent.

1. WITH ALL YOUR HEART: Explain that someone’s heart refers to the core of his or her affections, attention, passion, and devotion. God wants to be the core of your life- the focus of your passion and purpose.

Discuss and list some ways your life might be affected if you love something or someone with all your heart.

Guide: Explain that whoever, or whatever, has your heart usually has control of your life. When God truly captures your heart, your relationship with Him is evident to those around you.

2. WITH ALL YOUR SOUL [Guide: Explain that your soul is the core of who you are -the “real you.” It’s the spiritual, eternal aspect of your being (Matt 16:26). In this context, it could represent your deepest motives, longings, and convictions.]

• Read or have a volunteer read Psalm 42:1-2. What does it mean to thirst for God? In what ways can we meet God? [Hint: A soul that truly longs for God will want to be with Him at every opportunity– through prayer, His Word, worship services, etc.

3. WITH ALL YOUR MIND: Explain that loving God is not simply a matter of feelings or emotion. It is a CONSCIOUS CHOICE.

Beyond words, it means submitting your will to God and making decisions that please and honour Him.

• Read or have volunteers read Rom 8:5-8; and Col 3:2. Ask students to describe contrasts between how Society wants us to think and how God wants us to think.

• Read or have a volunteer read Rom 12:2. How does having a renewed mind transform a person?

Hint: Thinking differently leads to acting differently. Too often people get frustrated trying to change what they do. But the actual problem is that they need to change how they think and what they think about.

Guide: Consider the following Progression:

thoughts>>ideas>>choices>>actions. Then explain that we need to be cautious about what influences our thoughts. For example, we should guard against exposure to corrupt ideas and images. And fill our minds instead with time in God’s Word, prayer, and wholesome activities.

Note: Loving God with your mind means not only having your thoughts on Him but His thoughts in you. Loving God with your mind means that your thoughts and decisions please and honour Him.

4. WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH

• What does it mean to love God with your strength? [Guide: Explain that we can use our activities to glorify God and choose activities that will help us grow spiritually. We must stick to God’s standard in a world where most people reject Him, and we must press on even when we don’t see immediate results from our spiritual efforts.

>>Note: The primary evidence that we truly love God is that we will obey His commands and teachings (John 14:23-24; 1 John 5:3).

b). Love Others as Yourself

Read or have à volunteer read John 13:34-35; and Rom 13:8-10. How are we to love others? What will this kind of love prove? [Guide: Explain that Christians’ love for people must be subject to, controlled by, and directed by their love for God. His holiness and standards must never be compromised in showing love toward people.]

>>Involve Them: Discuss with students the following specific ways they can treat others like themselves:

• Give them attention. Listen to them and look out for their interests (Phil 2:3-5; James 1:19).

• Give them care. Be kind, do good, pray for, and serve them, regardless of how they feel about you (Luke 6:27-28; Gal 6:10).

• Give them respect. Treat them with dignity and avoid unnecessarily offending them (Rom 12:10-14;1 Cor 10:32-33).

• Give them the benefit of the doubt. Consider the reasons behind actions, and don’t assume the worst (Matt 7:1).

• Give them the best. Give your best effort, share, and give them a first choice (Luke 3:11; 14:10; Rom 12:13; Heb 13:16).

• Give them the goods. Don’t withhold help, but meet needs when it’s within your ability to do so (Prov 3:27; 1 John 3:16-18).

• Give them a break. Be patient with them and don’t judge. Forgive without holding a grudge (Prov 17:9; Luke 6:37).

lnspire Them: Remind students of “The Basic Message” of this study (Pg. 69), explain WHAT the Big Idea behind the study is; WHY it matters; and HOW we can live the lesson captured in the study.

Ministry Activity: WHATS BEST FOR YOU

Distribute note cards and pens or pencils. Have students list two or three situations in their lives in which they have a decision to make. Popular advice says, “Do what’s best for you.” But that’s not God’s way. Give students time to ask themselves which course of action best demonstrates love for God and others. Then allow them time for personal prayer.

Conclude by encouraging teens to love God more than anything or anyone else. Remind them that we can love God and others only because God loved us first (1 John 4:19).

Teacher Hint: Ask Yourself…

1. Have students considered what it means to truly love God with all aspects of their being?

2. Have students take note of specific ways they can treat others like they themselves like to be treated.

3. Do students understand how loving God and others fulfill all of His Commands?

Branded For Christ. RCCG SOD Year Three

Why do Soldiers wear uniforms in battle?

The answer is simple. It is principally to distinguish between friends and foes. I mean friends will wear the same uniform, and then enemies will wear the same uniform.

Why must a disciple be distinguishingly branded for Christ? Because they want to be identified with Jesus Christ. For example, in Acts 4:13, the Bible says when they observed the boldness of Peter and John, they took knowledge of them that they had were with Jesus.

They saw that these people were special and branded for Christ. In Acts 11:26, the Bible says the disciples were first called Christ in Antioch. People saw something about them.

They said “These people are like Christ. Therefore, let us call them Christians. They are like Christ, they behave like Christ. Then in Galatians 6:17, Paul said something there: “From henceforth let no man trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus Christ.

You will remember the story in Acts 19:13-16 when some vagabonds said they wanted to cast out demons. And they said to the Demons, “We command you in the name of Jesus which Paul Preaches. Come out!

The demons answered and made a very significant statement. They said, “Jesus I know and Paul I know also. Demons can recognize those who carry the mark of Jesus on their body. Why must we be clearly branded for Christ? Why must the identification be there? Why must the soldier of the cross wear uniforms that will show the enemy that these ones belong to Christ?

It is so that the fire, the bullet of God will not hit his own. You know when two armies are fighting, if you are a soldier of a particular army, and then you see somebody that is wearing the same uniform as yourself, you will not fire at such a person. You will fire at the enemy.

Now in the same manner, in spiritual armies, the Army of God is fighting against the enemies and if the enemy cannot distinguish between those who belong to God and those who belong to them, or rather if Jesus Christ can not see you clearly as you belonging to him then, the soldier can fire at you.

Before God begins to fire His bullet, He will say, first of all, let us identify those who belong to me.

EXAMPLES OF THOSE THAT WERE BRANDED FOR GOD

For example in Revelation 7:1-3, the Bible says:“And after these things, I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth nor on the sea, nor on any tree. And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God, and he cried with a loud voice to the angels, to whom it was given to hurt not the earth, neither the sea nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads,”

The angels were telling all the other angels before we began our operation, let us identify those who belong to our God.

2. You will remember in Exodus 12:12-13, God told Moses, “Tell the children of Israel, mark your house with blood, before the Angel of death begins to pass through. When I see the blood, I will pass over”. If there was any child of Israel of any family of Israel , that did not mark their house on that day, when the angel of death was passing by, as soon as he saw the house without blood, he will just go in and kill the first born.

God wants anyone who belong to him to be sealed, to be branded.

3. And what about Rahab in Joshua 2:17-19? When Joshua sent his spies to go and spy Jericho, and they got to the house of the harlot, they said unto her , we will spare you and every one in this house, provided there is a red ribbon on the window and all members of this family are within this house that is specially marked. They will escape death, but if they dont come to this house and they die where they are, dont blame us.

4. What about the case of Moses? In Exodus 32:26-28, when he went to collect the Ten Commandments, and before he came back, the children of Israel were already worshipping idols.

All these people who worship idols should die. Before we begin to kill them, let us find out those on the Lord’s side, So, Moses stood and cried “Who is on the Lord’s side?” Let them come to me and the Bible says all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together. It is only then is now said the judgment can begin on idol worshippers.

5. Also in Numbers 16:19-35, something happened. There was a group of people, Korah, Dathan and Abiram. They said “Moses, what are you trying to do? You said you are the Prophet, Aaron your brother is the Priest, your sister Mariam is the Choir Mistress . Why? You want to turn the whole nation of Israel to family business ? Who told you that we too cannot hear from God? So, Moses got angry , and said, “God, I hope you heard them? God said, “I heard them . But before I judge, you tell them, all those who are on the side of Korah, Dathan and Abiram, go ahead and stay with them. But those who are not in support of what you have said. Please come to the side of the Lord. And they did. Separation came, the ground opened his mouth and swallowed all the people and all their supporters.

6. The same thing happened in the case of Balak in Numbers 25:1-5. When the children of Israel began to fornicate with the children of Balak, when they began to mix with the children of Moab before the diseases started that killed those thousands. God already separated those who were not involved.

There is a great reason why we must be clearly branded for Christ. It is either you bear the mark of Christ or you bear the mark of Anti Christ.

Revelations 13:16-18 , talking about Anti Christ, said,

“And he causeth all, both small and great , rich and poor , free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beasts; for it is the number of a man, and his number is Six hundred three score and six”.

Brethren, as disciples of Jesus Christ, everything about us must be clearly distinctive, showing that we belong to Jesus Christ. The way we dress, the way we talk, everything about us. People must be able to look at us and say “This is a Christian. If you are covered with the blood of the Lamb, the bullet of the devil cannot hit you. And if the bullet of the devil has hit you before, you can go to Jesus, and he will remove the bullet. But if the bullet of Jesus hits you, who will help you? So, you should be branded for Christ.

It is better to talk to Him now. “Lord, in everything from my head to toe, my body, soul,, and spirit, I want to be branded for Christ”.

The main objective of a supportive PMO is to improve project performance by providing project teams with the necessary tools and resources.

#2  Controlling PMO

A controlling PMO has a moderate degree of control over project activities. It provides support to project teams but also monitors project progress and intervenes when necessary.

The main objective of a controlling PMO is to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

#3  Directive PMO

A directive PMO has a high degree of control over project activities. It provides support to project teams, monitors project progress, and intervenes when necessary. In addition, it has the authority to make project-related decisions on behalf of the organization.

The main objective of a directive PMO is to ensure that projects are aligned with the organization’s strategic goals and objectives.

Conclusion

In conclusion, selecting the right project management office (PMO) software is crucial for the success of any organization. With the right PMO software, organizations can streamline their project management processes, increase efficiency, and improve project delivery.

When selecting PMO software, it is important to consider the specific needs of the organization. Different software options offer different features and functionality, so it is important to choose one that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives.

Project Management Timeline: An Essential Guide for Successful Projects

A project management timeline is a visual representation of the project schedule that outlines the tasks, milestones, and deadlines required to complete the project.

A project timeline allows the project manager to track the progress of the project, identify potential delays, and take corrective action to keep the project on track.

Creating a project management timeline involves breaking down the project into smaller tasks and assigning deadlines to each task.

The timeline should be created in collaboration with the project team to ensure that everyone is on the same page and has a clear understanding of the project schedule.

The timeline should also be flexible enough to accommodate changes and unexpected delays that may arise during the project.

By using a project management timeline, project managers can effectively manage their resources, avoid delays, and ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.

It is an essential tool for any project manager who wants to deliver successful projects.

In the following sections, we will explore the key steps involved in creating a project management timeline and provide some tips for effective project management.

What are the Stages of the Project Timeline?

Here are the stages of the project timeline:

#1 Project Initiation

The first stage of the project timeline is project initiation. In this stage, the project manager defines the project scope, objectives, and stakeholders. The project manager also identifies the resources required for the project and assigns roles and responsibilities to team members. The project initiation stage is critical because it sets the direction and foundation for the project.

#2 Planning

The planning stage is the second stage of the project timeline.

In this stage, the project manager creates a detailed project plan that outlines the tasks, timelines, and resources required for the project.

The project plan also includes risk management, quality assurance, and communication plans.

The planning stage is crucial because it helps to ensure that the project is feasible, and that the team has a clear understanding of the project objectives.

#3 Execution

The execution stage is the third stage of the project timeline. In this stage, the project team implements the project plan.

The project manager monitors the progress of the project, and team members complete the tasks assigned to them.

The execution stage is critical because it is where the project plan is put into action.

#4 Monitoring and Control

The monitoring and control stage is the fourth stage of the project timeline. In this stage, the project manager monitors the progress of the project and makes adjustments as necessary.

The project manager also manages risks and quality control. The monitoring and control stage is essential because it helps to ensure that the project stays on track and meets the project objectives.

#5 Closure

The closure stage is the final stage of the project timeline. In this stage, the project manager ensures that all project deliverables have been completed, and the project objectives have been met.

The project manager also conducts a project review to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

The closure stage is critical because it helps to ensure that the project is completed successfully and all stakeholders are satisfied.

What are the 10 Steps of Project Management?

Project management is a complex process that requires careful planning and execution to ensure success.

There are many different approaches to project management, but most follow a similar set of steps. Here are the ten steps of project management:

1. Define the project scope: The first step in project management is to define the scope of the project.

This involves identifying the goals and objectives of the project, as well as the deliverables that will be produced.

2. Create a project plan: Once the project scope has been defined, the next step is to create a project plan.

This plan should include a timeline for the project, as well as a list of tasks and milestones that need to be completed.

3. Identify project stakeholders: Project stakeholders are individuals or groups who have an interest in the project.

It is important to identify these stakeholders early on in the project so that their needs and expectations can be taken into account.

4. Assemble the project team: The project team is responsible for carrying out the tasks and activities outlined in the project plan.

It is important to assemble a team that has the necessary skills and expertise to complete the project successfully.

5. Assign tasks and responsibilities: Once the project team has been assembled, tasks and responsibilities should be assigned to each team member.

This ensures that everyone knows what they are responsible for and helps to prevent confusion and delays.

6. Develop a project schedule: A project schedule outlines the timeline for the project and identifies key milestones and deadlines.

This helps to keep the project on track and ensures that tasks are completed on time.

7. Monitor project progress: It is important to monitor project progress regularly to ensure that the project is on track.

This involves tracking the completion of tasks and milestones and identifying any issues or delays that need to be addressed.

8. Manage project risks: Project risks are events or circumstances that could impact the success of the project. It is important to identify and manage these risks to minimize their impact on the project.

9. Communicate with stakeholders: Communication is key to the success of any project.

It is important to keep stakeholders informed about project progress and to address any concerns or issues they may have.

10. Close out the project: Once the project has been completed, it is important to close it out properly.

This involves reviewing the project outcomes, documenting lessons learned, and transferring any deliverables to the appropriate stakeholders.

By following these ten steps, project managers can ensure that their projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders involved.

What are the Different Types of Timeliness in Project Management?

Project timelines are an essential component of project management. They help teams to visualize the project schedule, understand the dependencies and milestones, and ensure that the project is completed on time.

There are several types of timelines used in project management, including:

– Gantt Chart

A Gantt chart is a popular type of timeline that displays the project schedule in a horizontal bar chart format.

It shows the start and end dates of each task, as well as the dependencies between tasks. Gantt charts are useful for visualizing the critical path of a project and identifying potential delays.

– Milestone Chart

A milestone chart is a timeline that focuses on the significant events or milestones in a project.

It displays the milestones as a series of vertical bars with the dates when they are expected to occur.

Milestone charts are useful for tracking progress against the project plan and communicating the project status to stakeholders.

– PERT Chart

A PERT (Program Evaluation and Review Technique) chart is a network diagram that displays the dependencies between tasks in a project.

It uses arrows to show the sequence of tasks and nodes to represent the tasks themselves.

PERT charts are useful for identifying the critical path of a project and determining the minimum time required to complete the project.

– Kanban Board

A Kanban board is a visual tool used for managing the flow of work in a project. It displays the tasks as cards that move through different stages of completion, such as “To Do,” “In Progress,” and “Done.” Kanban boards are useful for improving team collaboration, reducing bottlenecks, and increasing productivity.

Conclusion

In conclusion, a project timeline is a critical tool for project managers to keep track of their projects’ progress.

It provides a visual representation of the project’s tasks, their durations, dependencies, and milestones.

Note that, project timelines improve communication between team members, which is essential for project success.

By having a clear understanding of the project timeline, team members can better coordinate their efforts and work together more efficiently.

Building Project Management: Essential Tips and Tools

Construction projects are complex and require a high level of organization and planning to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. Building project management is the process of overseeing the planning, design, and construction of a building project from start to finish. It involves coordinating and managing various stakeholders, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.

Effective building project management requires a deep understanding of the entire construction process, including the different phases of construction, as well as the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and resources. Project managers must also be skilled in communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution to ensure that all stakeholders are working together toward a common goal. They must be able to anticipate and address potential issues before they become major problems and be able to adapt to changes in project scope or requirements.

Project management in building refers to the process of planning, organizing, and controlling resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment, to achieve specific project goals within a specified time frame. Building projects are complex and require a high level of coordination and communication among all stakeholders involved, including architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors.

The project management process starts with the development of a project plan, which outlines the project scope, objectives, and deliverables. The plan also includes a detailed schedule of tasks, milestones, and deadlines, as well as a budget for the project. The project manager is responsible for ensuring that the project plan is executed according to the schedule and budget and that all stakeholders are informed of progress and changes.

Effective project management in building requires a range of skills, including leadership, communication, problem-solving, and risk management. The project manager must be able to lead and motivate a diverse team of professionals, communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and identify and mitigate potential risks to the project.

In addition to traditional project management tools and techniques, such as Gantt charts and critical path analysis, building project managers may also use specialized software to manage documents, track progress, and communicate with stakeholders. Examples of such software include Procore, PlanGrid, and Autodesk BIM 360.

Overall, project management in the building is essential to the successful completion of construction projects of all sizes and complexity levels. It ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while minimizing risks and maximizing stakeholder or client’s satisfaction.

Building Project Management Fundamentals

Effective project management is essential for any construction project to be successful. In this section, we will cover the fundamental concepts of building project management, including the project life cycle, project stakeholders, and project scope.

– Project Life Cycle

The project life cycle is the sequence of phases that a project goes through from start to finish. A typical construction project life cycle includes the following phases:

1. Initiation: This is the first phase of the project where the project is defined and a feasibility study is conducted to determine if the project is worthwhile.

2. Planning: In this phase, the project plan is developed, and the scope, budget, and schedule are defined.

3. Execution: This is the phase where the actual work is done, and the project is constructed.

4. Monitoring and Control: In this phase, the progress of the project is monitored, and necessary changes are made to ensure that the project stays on track.

5. Closure: This is the final phase of the project where the project is completed, and the final deliverables are handed over to the client.

– Project Stakeholders

Project stakeholders are individuals or groups that have an interest in the project. They can be internal or external to the organization and can have a significant impact on the project’s success. Some examples of project stakeholders in construction projects include:

1. Owner: The person or organization that is funding the project.

2. Architect: The person or organization responsible for designing the project.

3. Contractor: The person or organization responsible for constructing the project.

4. Subcontractors: The individuals or organizations hired by the contractor to perform specific tasks.

5. Regulatory agencies: The government agencies responsible for ensuring that the project complies with all relevant regulations and codes.

– Project Scope

Project scope defines the boundaries of the project and what is included and excluded from the project. It is essential to define the project scope clearly to avoid scope creep, which can lead to project delays and cost overruns. The project scope should include the following:

1. Objectives: The goals that the project aims to achieve.

2. Deliverables: The products or services that the project will produce.

3. Constraints: The limitations that the project must work within, such as budget and time constraints.

4. Assumptions: The factors that are assumed to be true for the project to be successful.

What are the Phases of Building in Project Management?

Construction projects are complex and involve many stakeholders, making project management essential for success. The project management process of a building project typically includes several phases, each with its own set of tasks and deliverables.

Phase 1: Project Initiation

In this phase, the project team defines the project’s scope, objectives, and deliverables. They also identify stakeholders, establish a project team, and create a project charter. The project charter outlines the project’s goals, timeline, budget, and scope. During this phase, the team also conducts a feasibility study to determine whether the project is viable.

Phase 2: Project Planning

In the planning phase, the project team develops a detailed project plan. This includes creating a work breakdown structure (WBS), defining project milestones, and creating a project schedule. They also identify project risks and develop a risk management plan. The team also determines the resources required for the project and creates a budget.

Phase 3: Project Execution

In the execution phase, the project team carries out the project plan. This involves coordinating resources, managing stakeholders, and monitoring progress. The team also manages any changes to the project scope, schedule, or budget. During this phase, the project manager must ensure that the project stays on track and that any issues are resolved quickly.

Phase 4: Project Monitoring and Control

In the monitoring and control phase, the project team monitors project progress and performance. They also compare actual progress to the project plan and make any necessary adjustments. The team also manages project risks and ensures that the project stays within budget and on schedule.

Phase 5: Project Closure

In the closure phase, the project team completes all project deliverables and closes out the project. This includes conducting a final project review, documenting lessons learned, and archiving project documents. The team also releases any resources that were used for the project and ensures that all stakeholders are satisfied with the project’s outcome.

By following these phases, a project team can increase the chances of achieving project success. Each phase is critical to the project’s overall success and must be completed thoroughly and accurately.

Conclusion

In conclusion, effective project management is a critical component of successful building projects. It involves planning, organizing, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals and objectives within a specified budget and timeline.

One of the key takeaways from this article is that communication is paramount in project management. It is essential to establish clear lines of communication between all stakeholders, including the project manager, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers. This helps to ensure that everyone is on the same page and that issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.

Another important aspect of project management is risk management. This involves identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. By anticipating potential problems and having contingency plans in place, project managers can avoid costly delays and ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Finally, it is important to note that project management is an ongoing process that requires constant monitoring and evaluation. By regularly reviewing progress and making necessary adjustments, project managers can ensure that projects stay on track and are completed successfully.

The Shepherd and The Sheep. RCCG Sunday School Students Manual

BIBLE PASSAGE: Psalms 23:1-6 (KJV)

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

MEMORY VERSE: Psalms 100:2 (KJV)

Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

INTRODUCTION

Psalms 23 is an expression of our confidence and trust in the Lord. Each verse reveals the close relationship David shared with God.

Metaphorically, David portrays God as a loving “Shepherd.” This is because being a shepherd himself; he knows what it means to cater for the flocks.

The imagery of God as “THE SHEPHERD” is common throughout the Old and New Testaments. Therefore, every believer should understand the place of God in their lives as the “Shepherd,” what it means to be a “sheep” and how to rely solely on God.

OUTLINES:

1. The Believer As A “Sheep”

2. God As “The Shepherd”

1. The Believer As A “Sheep”

The term “sheep” in this context, is used metaphorically for believers (Psalms 100:3). A “Sheep” is someone who obediently follows and relies on the Lord Jesus Christ – “The Shepherd” (John 10:14).

A Christian has to subject himself to the leadership of the “Great Shepherd” who surely has his interest at heart (Hebrews 13:20).

Like the sheep, a believer needs God for daily provisions both spiritual and physical (Luke 11:3; Matthew 7:9-11); for protection from predators (John 10:11-12); for direction on the right path (Proverbs 16:9), etc.

Moreover, a believer needs the Shepherd to save him from hirelings – false Prophets, fake pastors, heretical teachers, apostate apostles, greedy evangelists, etc.

Where the sheep only see green grass, the Shepherd sees hidden dangers. Hence, without the Shepherd the sheep is in trouble (1 Kings 22:17).

Also, a sheep needs the Shepherd when life is hard (Psalms 27:13); in times of anxiety (Matthew 6:25-26); in need of safety (Psalms 125:2); downcast (Psalms 43:5); in need of help (Psalms 121:1-2), etc. Therefore, believers should always call on God as Shepherd 10:13).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1:

The class should mention other times the sheep may need the shepherd.

2. God As “The Shepherd”

A shepherd is a person who tends herds – someone who feeds and guards herds of sheep. A shepherd’s primary responsibility is the safety and well-being of the flock.

Like David, believers in Christ can call God their Shepherd (Psalms 80:1; Isaiah 40:11). Jesus Christ also calls Himself the “Good Shepherd” (John 10:11).

In fact, Hebrews 13:20 call Him “the Great Shepherd.”

Our Shepherd performs His all-important role in the following ways:

1. He leads us out and in so that we find pasture and safety (John 10:9).

2. He knows how to take care of our needs and in the course of His grace, and providence leads us in the way in which we should go (Psalms 84:11; Isaiah 30:21).

3. He watches over us and keeps us from being destroyed by ravenous (John 10:10-11).

4. When we stray, He brings us back (Matthew 12:11).

5. Just as the shepherd brings the flock to the shade in times of scorching heat, God becomes our refuge in times of persecution and affliction (Psalms 91:4).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2:

Students should share with the class, the roles the great shepherd has performed in their lives

CONCLUSION: RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENT MANUAL 1 OCTOBER 2023

To enjoy the blessings of the Great Shepherd we must humbly follow as responsive sheep.

QUESTION

  • What makes the believer a sheep?
  • In what ways does the Shepherd provide for the sheep?

RCCG SUNDAY SCHOOL STUDENT MANUAL 1 OCTOBER 2023 ASSIGNMENT

Write five differences between a sheep and a goat. (2×5-10 marks).

Magnify Our Incomparable Lord. AG Sunday School Teachers Manual.

Memory Verse: Psalms 86:5 – For thou, LORD, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee (KJV).

Lesson Bible Text:
Psalms 86 and 146

Lesson Central Truth:
There is no god like the Lord God.

INTRODUCING THE LESSON

Throughout this unit, we have explored many facets on what it means to worship the Lord. It is fitting that the unit ends with a focus on magnifying the Lord–lifting high our allegiance to Him above everyone and everything else in our lives. In Psalm 86 and 146, we find an emphasis on mercy followed by a declaration that He will reign forever. May our joy over these realities flow freely from our lives in both our worship and in our declaration of the Lord to the world around us.

LESSON OUTLINE
1. COMMUNE WITH THE INCOMPARABLE GOD

A. Call Upon The Lord – Psalm 86:1-7
B. No Other God’s Are Like Him – Psalm 86:8-10.

2. LEARN FROM THE MERCIFUL GOD
A. “Teach Me Your Ways” – Psalm 86:11-13
B. “Have Mercy On Me” – Psalm 86:14-17

3. GOD REIGNS SUPREME FOREVER

A. “Let All That I Am Praise The Lord” – Psalm 146:1-2
B. Have Confidence In God – Psalm 146:3-10.

LESSON NUGGETS
1. COMMUNE WITH THE INCOMPARABLE GOD

Psalm 86:1-10
️ Psalm 86 opens with a prayer similar to what we studied in Psalm 113:6, as God is said to stoop low to engage with his people. Here, the Psalmist pleads, “Bend down, O LORD, and hear my prayer.” Such a request recognizes God’s exalted position as well as the Psalmist’s desperate need to hear from Him. This is similar to the place we often find ourselves when we go to prayer. we can see from the prayer of Psalmist (David) who has a proper perspective by looking unto God during his troubles.

While he finds himself in a difficult situation he remains confident that God hears and is able to save him. He is sure that even though his situation is dire, his God is bigger and desires to show mercy to those whom He loves. David believes that God hears and answers prayers. Despite the fact his enemies continued to threaten him, David maintained his confidence in the unchanging righteous character and loving mercy of the Lord.

The psalmist is still in distress, but his thoughts turn again to the greatness of his God. Note that the psalmist lived in a day when the nations round about Israel each worshipped its own national gods — Baal, Asherah, Bel, Dagon, etc. These so-called gods are nothing compared to the true God; non of their supposed works are anything like our great God deeds.

Now the psalmist declares that all the nations that once served these false gods will come to worship before the true God and bring Him glory. David declared that our God does “wondrous things” ie an act that go beyond human understanding and reason.

Still today, miracles testify to the reality of our God. They reveal a God who is able to do even the unimaginable on behalf of His people. As believers, when we declare our incomparable God to an unbelieving world around us, we can do so knowing He will do great things, and even miraculous, as we place our trust in Him.

2. LEARN FROM THE MERCIFUL GOD
Psalm 86:11-17

️ Because David knew who God is and his natural reaction was to submit himself to this great, gracious God and to ask Him to teach him.

David’s desire was to be taught God’s way. Could this be our desire cum request on a daily basis? Oftentimes, when we pray, we are concerned about deliverance, help, guidance, financial breakthroughs, and so much related issue. But we are not nearly as concerned to be taught God’s way and to be helped to serve Him with an undivided heart.

This determination to teach God’s way gave integrity to David’s request. He wanted to be taught so that he could live and then walk in God’s truth. This David’s request to teach God’s way and to walk in His truth wasn’t merely to satisfy intellectual curiosity or to win arguments; it was to live for Him in all ramifications.

Many people today, study God’s word just to win arguments and nothing more. Let our desire be like that of Psalmist: “Teach us Your ways, O Lord, that we may live according to your truth! Grant us purity of heart, that we may honor you.”

️ David thought about God’s past deliverance in his life. The merciful God who rescued him before would rescue him again. David encountered numerous life threatening challenges from his enemies and the victory he got was as a result of God’s mercy.

As believers, we must know that the life battles are too fearful and our victory can only come through God’s mercy–not by our strength, not by our technical know-how and not by who we know. Through all that David went through, he never approached God on the basis of what he deserved. Anything he received from God, he would receive on the basis of mercy.

David appeals to God’s mercy, grace, and steadfast Love to deliver him. God’s mercy and grace is essential to the salvation of all men. Without it, we would have “no hope” of being saved. God gave David the strength to deal with his challenges and overcome them.

With God’s grace he could have victory each day. We can have this same assurance today because we trust and serve the same God that was with the Psalmist. By His mercy, we are victorious in Christ!

3. GOD REIGNS SUPREME FOREVER
Psalm 146

️ The Psalmist made a declaration of praise to God: “Praise the Lord! Let all that I am praise the Lord.” David called upon his own soul to give God praise, and others to give praise as well.

When we praise God, we vocalize our appreciation to God. We adore Him, verbally, for who He is, what He
has done and what He is yet to do. At the centre of our praise is Jesus – He must be the focus of our adoration.

The Psalmist went on to caution us against confidence in man. “Do not put your trust in princes.” God is to be praised and not man. No man is worthy of praise. We are sure to be disappointed when we put our trust in a man for whom there is no help.

This is what the Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans and turn their hearts away from the Lord” (Jeremiah 17:5). Only our matchless God deserves our total praise.

️ “Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help.” Men are full of disappointment, but God never disappoints the one who hopes in Him.

The singer gives us more reasons for confidence in God. When we trust in the LORD as the Creator of all things, we realize He has the power to help us and deliver us that even great men do not have. God can also be trusted because He is a moral and upright God.

He champions justice for the oppressed and also cares for those who are in need. For the hungry He provides food and for prisoners He provides freedom.

God shows great love and compassion to the poor, afflicted, and needy. Yet the Lord also brings justice against the wicked and turns their way upside down.

In all this, we see a God of power, holiness, and love. This is our God who can be trusted with full confidence. The LORD shall reign forever, even to all generations. Praise the Lord!

Lesson Action Word:
We are duty-bound to magnify our incomparable Lord and trust in His character.

Lesson Prayer Point:
Father, we magnify and lift Your Name high above all other gods.

Remain blessed as you join us in our Sunday school both online and at any Assemblies Of God Church close to you as we study together under the Feet of the Master.

Issues Of Honesty. AG Teen Sunday School Manual.

Text: Exo 20:15-17; Deut 5:21; Psalm 15:1-5; Prov 19:5; Matt 15:18-19; Luke 12:15; Col 3:5-6, 9-10; 1 Tim 6:9-10

KEY VERSE: Hebrew 13:5

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you.” (NIV)

Focus
For many teens, cheating is simply a game of wits in which they take great pleasure in outsmarting adults and one another. But God is not fooled by all the excuses people give for this wrong behavior. The Bible is clear and emphatic about the nature and consequences of deceptive behavior: it’s like the devil (John 8:44), God hates it (Prov 12:22), and it brings judgment (Prov 19:5).

This week’s study focuses on issues of honesty – with ourselves, others, and God. Our compliance to or defiance of God’s commands regarding stealing, lying, and envy reveal our level of contentment and trust in God.

As you prepare this study, take the message to heart and examine your own life for hidden deception and dissatisfaction. Has your behavior been free of moral compromise? Have your conversations been free of slander? Have your desires been in line with God’s? Take time this week to let God continue perfecting His truth in your life. And if you need to make things right with someone else, trust Him for the strength to face your failures and find the freedom that His truth brings.

The Basic Message: Explain to students..

WHAT’S THE BIG IDEA?

God requires us to be honest with Him, others, and ourselves.

WHY DOES IT MATTER?

Stealing, lying, and coveting all Indicate discontentment, which reflects distrust toward God and disregard for His commands.
HOW DO I LIVE IT?

Commit to complete honesty, seeking forgiveness from God and others for past failures.

Activity Option: HONESTY

Discuss with students the following questions:
• How important do you think most people consider honesty? Why?

Guide: Read or have a volunteer read Exo 20:15-17. Explain that our culture is becoming increasingly tolerant of dishonesty. As Christians, we need to be careful not to fall into this trap. Dishonesty may seem convenient, the easy way out of trouble, or the quick road to success. But deception has consequences.

Study Overview: Explain that today’s study considers..

• How God’s commands against stealing and cheating apply to so many areas teens might not realize.
• How God expects us to be honest in our dealings with and about others.
• How wishing for what others have often shown distrust and discontentment toward God.

Inform and Discuss

a). To Catch a Thief
Teacher Hint: Read or have a volunteer read Exo 20:15. Explain that while many people will admit that stealing is wrong, a lot of people still compromise this command without even realizing it.

1. Beyond shoplifting and armed robbery, how do people steal from others? When and where does stealing take place?

Guide: Challenge students to think of more subtle behaviors that constitute stealing.

2. What are some reasons people might use to justify stealing?

Note: As a worker, even if you’re not being paid what you think is fair, you cannot make up for it by stealing. God holds us accountable for whatever we do, just as He holds others for theirs.

b). Nothing but the Truth

Teacher Hint: Read or have a volunteer read Exo 20:16. Explain that the Ninth Commandment protects the reputations of others. It forbids making false statements about someone’s character or actions. And it also prohibits lying in general.

1. Read or have a volunteer read Prov 19:5. Discuss with students some of the consequences of dishonesty. You, or a volunteer, may be willing to share from a personal experience.

Guide: Explain that Christians should refrain from lying for reasons other than the threat of punishment. Slander and lying are part of the old sinful life we must abandon (Col 3:9-10); it separates us from God.

2. Read or have a volunteer read Psalm 15:1-5. Why is it wrong to slander (i.e., speak falsely about) other people?
Guide: Explain that slander involves defaming, denigrating, or vilifying others with inferences or words. Such actions can destroy someone’s reputation, relationships, livelihood, and self-image. Even a person’s faith and perception of God can be distorted when someone, especially a supposed Christian, bring false accusations against him or her.

c). Desire and Discontentment

Teacher Hint: Read or have volunteers read Exo 20:17; Deut .5:21. Explain that coveting involves a lust to have something that belongs to another person-e.g., possessions, social standing or success, personal relationships, etc.

1. How does envy or covetousness affect a person’s relationship with the one they envy or their attitude toward the thing they want? [Hint: A strong desire can become an obsession, sparking jealousy, bitterness, lying, stealing, character assassination, hatred, and other sins. Envy and jealousy show contempt for others -and for God.

2. Read or have volunteers read Luke 12:15; and Heb 13:5. Discuss with students what it means to be content and how people become Content. [Guide: Point out that the root cause of each of the issues in this study (stealing, lying, and coveting) is often discontentment with what we have, which reflects disregard and distrust of God’s care and provision.

3. Read or have volunteers read Col 3:5-6; 1 Tim 6:9-10. In what ways can the desire and pursuit of wealth lead to trouble, spiritually and otherwise?
>>Note: Greed or covetousness is IDOLATRY (Col 3:5-6). It puts other things in front of dependence on God and ultimately brings judgment.

Involve Them: SELF-EVALUATION

Enlarge, duplicate, and distribute to students copies of the cards below. Ask them to complete the statements in the cards as honestly as possible. They will not be asked to reveal their answers. Some statements may have more than one answer, depending on how they feel to respond.

1. When I feel I don’t have the things I need, I
…feel frustrated and angry.
….try to find a way to earn money to buy them.
…feel my parents don’t understand my needs.
…feel jealous of friends who have what I want.
..accept it and forget about it.
…feel I’m treated unfairly.
…complain.
…pray about it.

2. When I’m with people who don’t have as much as I have, I
…don’t compare what we own.
…accept them as they are.
…feel superior.

3. When I’m with people who have more than I have, I
…feel jealous and/or inferior.
…wish I had what they had.
…don’t compare what we own.
…feel as relaxed as I do with other people.
…feel happy for what they’re able lo have

4. When I think about what I own, I
..feel satisfied and grateful.
..feel I need more.

5. When new items and Fashions come on the market, I

…take a little notice.
…bug my parents until they buy them for me.
…buy the biggest and the best as soon as possible.
…realize I don’t need them because I have plenty.
…save the money and buy them myself.

6. When someone is better than i am at something, I

…dislike him or her.
…avoid him or her.
…point out his or her imperfections in other areas.
…try to do better myself.
…admire him or her.
…feel happy for him or her.

7. When I meet someone with a really wonderful relationship (with his/her family, friend, etc.), I
…hate and talk down my own relationships.
…feel jealous.
…try to make my own relationships sound better.
…try to cause problems between them.
…try to be around them as much as possible.

>>Guide: When they’re through, ask them to take a few minutes to study their answers. Encourage them to sincerely rate themselves; and commit to improve on themselves or make amends where necessary. Have students keep the card as a prayer reminder.

>>Inspire Them: Remind students of “The Basic Message” of this study (pg 65), explain WHAT the Big Idea behind the study is; WHY it matters; and HOW we can live the lesson captured in the study.

Conclude the session by having a time of silent prayer with students. Encourage them to repent of any wrongdoing and commit to honest dealing with God and others. Remind them that God also expects us to make things right (Lev 6:1-5). Assure them that God can forgive and provide them the strength to confront past failures and make restitution with others.

Teacher Hint: Ask Yourself…
1. Can the students describe more subtle behaviors that fall in the area of stealing?
2. Can they explain the consequences of lying?
3. Do they understand that they must not only guard against wrong words and actions but also wrong motives and desires?
4. Have they had the opportunity to commit to complete honesty to themselves, others, and God?

Project Management Templates: Tools For Simpler Processes

Project management templates are pre-designed documents that help project managers and teams to organize their work, track progress, and communicate effectively. They provide a framework for project management activities, making it easier to manage complex projects.

Project management templates come in various formats, including Excel, Word, PDF, and Google Sheets. They are designed to meet different project management needs, such as task lists, Gantt charts, project timelines, risk management plans, and project budgets. These templates can be customized to suit specific project requirements, and they can be used by project managers in different industries, including construction, IT, healthcare, and finance.

What are Templates in Project Management?

Templates in project management are pre-designed documents that provide a framework for planning, executing, and monitoring a project. They are essential tools for project managers as they help standardize project processes, improving communication, and increase efficiency.

Templates can be used for various project management tasks, such as creating a project charter, developing a project plan, tracking progress, and reporting project status. They can be customized to fit the needs of a specific project or organization.

Benefits of Project Management Templates

1. They save time and effort as project managers do not have to start from scratch every time they need to create a document.
2. They help in ensuring consistency and quality across all project documents.
3. They reduce errors and mistakes as they provide a standardized format for project information.

How Do You Write a Project Management Document?

A project management document is a formal document that outlines how a project will be executed, monitored, and controlled. It is a critical tool for project managers to ensure that all stakeholders are on the same page and that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the expected quality standards. Here are some steps to follow when writing a project management document:

Step 1: Define the Project Scope

The first step in writing a project management document is to define the project scope. This involves identifying what the project will deliver and what it will not deliver. The project scope should be clearly defined and agreed upon by all stakeholders to avoid misunderstandings or scope creep.

Step 2: Develop a Work Breakdown Structure

A work breakdown structure (WBS) is a hierarchical decomposition of the project into smaller, more manageable components. It helps to organize the project work into smaller, more manageable tasks and activities. The WBS should be developed in collaboration with the project team and should be reviewed and updated regularly as the project progresses.

Step 3: Identify Risks and Mitigation Strategies

Identifying risks and developing mitigation strategies is an important part of project management. Risks can be identified by brainstorming with the project team, reviewing historical data, and conducting risk assessments. Once risks are identified, mitigation strategies should be developed to minimize their impact on the project.

Step 4: Define Roles and Responsibilities

Defining roles and responsibilities is critical to the success of the project. This involves identifying who will be responsible for each task and activity, and what their specific responsibilities will be. This information should be documented in the project management document and communicated to all stakeholders.

Step 5: Develop a Project Schedule

Developing a project schedule involves identifying the tasks and activities required to complete the project and determining the sequence of those tasks. A project schedule should include start and end dates for each task, as well as dependencies between tasks. The schedule should be reviewed and updated regularly to ensure that the project is on track.

Does Excel Have a Project Management Template?

Excel is a widely used spreadsheet software that can be used for various purposes, including project management. The software comes with different templates that can be used to manage projects more efficiently. However, the question remains: Does Excel have a project management template?

The answer is yes. Excel has several project management templates that can be used to plan and track projects. These templates can be customized to fit the specific needs of a project and can help teams stay on track and meet their goals.

How do I Create a Project Management Plan in Excel?

Excel is a popular tool for project management due to its availability, familiarity, and cost-effectiveness. Creating a project management plan in Excel involves several steps, including defining the scope, identifying tasks, setting deadlines, and assigning responsibilities. Here are some tips to help you create a project management plan in Excel:

#1 Define the scope

The first step in creating a project management plan is to define the scope of the project. This involves identifying the goals, objectives, and deliverables of the project. You can create a scope statement in Excel by using a table or bullet points to list the key elements of the project.

#2 Identify tasks

Once you have defined the scope of the project, the next step is to identify the tasks that need to be completed to achieve the project goals. You can create a task list in Excel by using a table or a list of bullet points. Each task should be clearly defined and include a description, deadline, and assigned team member.

#3  Set deadlines

Setting deadlines is crucial to ensuring that the project stays on track. You can create a timeline in Excel by using a Gantt chart template or by creating a table that lists the start and end dates for each task.

#4 Assign responsibilities

Assigning responsibilities to team members is essential to ensuring that everyone knows what they need to do and when. You can create a responsibility matrix in Excel by using a table that lists the tasks and the team members responsible for each task.

By following these steps, you can create a project management plan in Excel that will help you stay organized and on track throughout the project.

Conclusion

In conclusion, project management templates are essential tools that can help project managers plan, execute, and monitor their projects more effectively. These templates can save time, reduce errors, and improve communication among team members.

One advantage of project management templates is that they can be customized to meet the specific needs of a project. For example, a project manager can choose a template that focuses on risk management if the project involves a high level of risk. Similarly, a project manager can choose a template that focuses on stakeholder management if the project involves multiple stakeholders.

Forgive As You Are Forgiven. AG Daily Devotional.

Wednesday 27th September 2023

KEY VERSE:

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”(Matthew 5:7).

TODAY’S READING

Matt 18:22 – 35

ONE-YEAR BIBLE STUDY PLAN
Nehemiah 6-7

COMMENTARY

Here we see that one of the attributes of the children of God, followers of Jesus Christ, is being merciful just as God is merciful, “Therefore, be merciful just as your Father also is merciful” (Luke 6:36).

The implications are that we should forgive offenders as God does; we should be compassionate as God is; we should be kind as God is and we should be gracious as God is. What a beautiful home, community, Church, and nation we would have if we all possessed this Divine attribute!

Let it be stated that mercy is not obtained on a silver platter. It is difficult to let go a debtor or an offender of any degree or do good to anyone who doesn’t deserve it. Based on this, the candidate for mercy must humble himself, swallow his pride and ego and sincerely plead for mercy, either from God or human beings.

In Matt 18:22-35, the narrative is about a certain servant whose debt was canceled by his master because he didn’t have the money to pay. His master showed him mercy because he pleaded with him. He wasn’t arrogant; he didn’t insult his master but displayed deep humility which attracted pity. His example is worthy of emulation.

However, this same man who enjoyed such magnitude of mercy refused to extend the same to his fellow servant who owed him much less and who also pleaded for mercy, yet he hardened his heart and threw him into prison till he should pay all that he owed him. This news got to his master who quickly revoked his debt cancellation.

Hence, we should be merciful to one another as God is merciful to us (Eph 4:32). Those who are merciful shall continually enjoy God’s mercy and the blessings thereof.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS
Show mercy when men are at your mercy.

PRAYER

Lord, help me to be like you in being merciful to my fellow men. Take away from me the spirit of pride, arrogance, wickedness and vindictiveness.

Excel Project Management: Optimize Your Workflow Using These Strategies

Excel is a powerful tool that can be used for project management. With its ability to organize and analyze data, Excel is a popular choice for project managers who want to track project progress, manage budgets, and communicate with team members and stakeholders.

Excel can be customized to fit the needs of any project, from small to large, and can be used to create Gantt charts, task lists, and other project management tools.

One of the benefits of using Excel for project management is its flexibility. Excel can be used to create custom templates that fit the specific needs of a project, and can be easily updated as the project progresses.

This makes it easy for project managers to track progress, manage resources, and make adjustments as needed. Excel can also be used to create reports and visualizations that help project managers communicate project status to stakeholders.

Excel is also a cost-effective solution for project management. Unlike specialized project management software, Excel is widely available and can be used by anyone with a basic understanding of spreadsheets.

This makes it an ideal choice for small businesses or teams with limited budgets. With the right templates and tools, Excel can be a powerful tool for project management that helps teams stay organized and on track.

Excel in Project Management

Excel is a widely used software that businesses and individuals use for various purposes, including project management. In this section, we will explore why Excel is a popular choice for project management and its role in managing projects.

Why Excel for Project Management?

Small teams and businesses prefer using Excel for project management due to its availability, familiarity, and cost-effectiveness. Excel is readily available on most computers and does not require additional software or licenses. Moreover, most people are familiar with Excel and its basic functions, making it easy to get started with Excel project management quickly.

Another reason why Excel is a popular choice for project management is its flexibility. Excel provides users with the ability to customize templates, formulas, and charts according to their specific needs. This flexibility allows project managers to create unique project management tools that cater to their team’s requirements.

Excel’s Role in Project Management

Excel plays a vital role in project management by providing project managers with the tools to visualize, plan, and track their projects. Here are some ways Excel can be used in project management:

1. Gantt Charts: Excel’s Gantt chart template allows project managers to create visual representations of project timelines, including task dependencies and milestones.

2. Budgeting: Excel’s budgeting templates allow project managers to create and manage project budgets, including tracking expenses, forecasting costs, and analyzing financial data.

3. Task Lists: Excel’s task list templates allow project managers to create and track project tasks, including deadlines, priority levels, and task owners. Task lists help project managers stay organized and ensure that tasks are completed on time.

4. Reporting: Excel’s reporting templates allow project managers to create project status reports, including progress updates, risk assessments, and performance metrics. Reporting templates provide stakeholders with a clear understanding of the project’s progress and help identify potential issues.

Setting Up a Project in Excel

Excel is a powerful tool for project management, allowing users to create and track project plans, timelines, and Gantt charts. Here we will discuss the key steps involved in setting up a project in Excel.

#1 Creating a Project Plan

The first step in setting up a project in Excel is to create a project plan. This should include a detailed description of the project, including its objectives, scope, and deliverables. It should also include a list of tasks and sub-tasks, along with their dependencies and timelines.

To create a project plan in Excel, users can use a template or create their own spreadsheet. They should start by creating a table with columns for task name, start date, end date, duration, and dependencies. They can then add additional columns as needed, such as status, priority, and assigned resources.

#2 Building a Gantt Chart

Once the project plan has been created, users can build a Gantt chart to visualize the project timeline. A Gantt chart displays the start and end dates of each task in a horizontal bar chart, allowing users to see the overall timeline of the project at a glance.

To create a Gantt chart in Excel, users can use a template or create their own chart. They should start by adding the task names to the left-hand side of the chart, and the timeline along the top. They can then add horizontal bars to represent each task, with the length of the bar indicating the duration of the task.

#3  Developing a Project Timeline

Finally, users should develop a project timeline to track the progress of the project. A project timeline should include key milestones and deadlines, along with the status of each task.

To create a project timeline in Excel, users can use a template or create their own spreadsheet. They should start by adding the key milestones and deadlines to the timeline, along with the start and end dates of each task. They can then add additional columns to track the status of each task, such as completed, in progress, or not started.

Advanced Excel Functions for Project Management

Excel is a powerful tool for project management, and with a little bit of know-how, users can take their project management skills to the next level. Here are some advanced Excel functions that can help project managers streamline their work and increase productivity.

#1 Using Pivot Tables

Pivot tables are a powerful tool in Excel that can help project managers analyze large amounts of data quickly and easily. With pivot tables, users can quickly create summaries of data, filter and sort data, and create charts and graphs to visualize data.

For project managers, pivot tables can be used to analyze project data such as budgets, timelines, and team member performance. By using pivot tables, project managers can quickly identify trends and patterns in their data, which can help them make informed decisions about their projects.

#2  Applying Conditional Formatting

Conditional formatting is a feature in Excel that allows users to apply formatting to cells based on certain criteria. For project managers, this can be a powerful tool for tracking project progress and identifying potential issues.

For example, project managers can use conditional formatting to highlight cells that are behind schedule or over budget. This can help project managers quickly identify areas of the project that need attention and take corrective action before it’s too late.

#3 Leveraging Data Validation

Data validation is a feature in Excel that allows users to control the type of data that can be entered into a cell. For project managers, this can be a powerful tool for ensuring data accuracy and consistency.

For example, project managers can use data validation to ensure that team members enter data in a specific format, such as dates or currency. This can help project managers avoid errors and ensure that their data is accurate and consistent.

Project Tracking and Reporting in Excel

Project tracking and reporting are crucial aspects of project management. In Excel, project managers can use various tools to monitor project progress and generate reports that communicate project status to stakeholders.

– Monitoring Project Progress

Excel provides project managers with the ability to track project progress in real-time. By using Gantt charts, project managers can visualize the project timeline and identify potential delays or issues that may arise. Gantt charts can also help project managers allocate resources and prioritize tasks.

Another useful tool for tracking project progress in Excel is the project dashboard. Project dashboards provide an overview of all project activities, including milestones, task status, and resource allocation. With a project dashboard, project managers can quickly identify areas that require attention and take corrective action to keep the project on track.

– Generating Project Reports

Excel is a powerful tool for generating project reports. Project managers can use Excel to create various types of reports, including status reports, budget reports, and resource allocation reports. By using Excel’s built-in formulas and functions, project managers can quickly calculate and analyze project data to generate reports that communicate project status to stakeholders.

One popular report format in Excel is the pivot table. Pivot tables allow project managers to summarize large amounts of data and generate reports that highlight key project metrics. Pivot tables can also be used to identify trends and patterns in project data, which can help project managers make informed decisions about project direction.

Limitations of Excel in Project Management

Excel is a widely used tool for project management, but it does have its limitations. This section will discuss some of the limitations of using Excel for project management.

#1 Lack of Real-Time Collaboration

Excel is a desktop application, which means that it cannot provide real-time collaboration features. Team members need to share files back and forth, which can lead to version control issues. It can be challenging to keep track of who made what changes and when. This lack of real-time collaboration can slow down the project and lead to delays.

#2 Limited Automation Capabilities

Excel is not designed to automate project management tasks. This means that team members need to manually update the project plan, status, and other information. This manual process can be time-consuming and prone to errors. Additionally, Excel does not have built-in workflows, which means that team members need to create their own processes.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Excel is a powerful tool for project management that can help streamline processes and increase efficiency. With the right templates and techniques, project managers can use Excel to create detailed project plans, track progress, and manage resources.

One of the biggest advantages of using Excel for project management is its flexibility. Excel can be customized to fit the specific needs of a project, whether it’s a simple task list or a complex Gantt chart. Additionally, Excel is widely available and easy to use, making it accessible to project managers of all skill levels.

Management Project: Tips for Successful Execution

Project management involves applying knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet project requirements and ensure successful project completion. Project management is a critical process in any organization, as it helps to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

What is the Meaning of Project Management?

Project management is the process of planning, organizing, and managing resources to achieve specific goals within a defined timeline. It involves the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to meet project requirements. The primary objective of project management is to deliver the project on time, within budget, and with the desired quality.

The Project Management Triangle

The project management triangle, also known as the triple constraint or iron triangle, is a model that illustrates the three main constraints of any project: time, cost, and scope. These constraints are interdependent, and any change in one will affect the other two. The triangle is a useful tool for project managers to balance these constraints and ensure that the project is completed successfully.

Project Lifecycle

The project lifecycle is the series of phases that a project goes through from initiation to closure. There are typically five phases in a project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control, and closure. Each phase has specific deliverables and objectives that must be met before moving on to the next phase.

Project Management Methodologies

There are several project management methodologies that can be used to manage projects, including Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, PRINCE2, and Six Sigma. Each methodology has its own approach and set of principles, and the choice of methodology will depend on the specific needs and requirements of the project.

Project Management Tools

Project management tools are software applications that help project managers plan, execute, and monitor projects. Some popular project management tools include Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello, and Smartsheet. These tools can help project managers track progress, manage resources, and communicate with team members.

Project Planning

Project planning is an essential stage in the project management process. During this stage, the project manager creates a project plan that outlines the project’s requirements, objectives, and deliverables. The project plan also maps out the steps required to complete the project, including task breakdown, time estimation, and project scope.

– Project Scope

Defining the project scope is the first step in project planning. The project scope outlines the boundaries of the project and defines what is and isn’t included. It helps to ensure that everyone involved in the project has a clear understanding of what is expected. A well-defined project scope helps to avoid scope creep, which is when the project’s goals and objectives change without proper authorization.

– Task Breakdown

The task breakdown is the process of breaking down the project into smaller, more manageable tasks. It involves identifying all the tasks required to complete the project and organizing them into a logical sequence. The task breakdown helps to ensure that all tasks are completed in the correct order and that nothing is missed.

To create a task breakdown, the project manager should start by identifying the project’s major deliverables. They should then break down each deliverable into smaller tasks and organize them into a logical sequence. The project manager should also consider the project team’s skills and expertise to ensure that tasks are assigned to the right people.

– Time Estimation

Time estimation is the process of estimating how long each task will take to complete. It helps to ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget. Time estimation involves considering various factors, including the task’s complexity, the project team’s skills and expertise, and any potential risks or challenges.

To estimate the time required to complete each task, the project manager should consider the task’s duration, the resources required, and any potential risks or challenges. They should also consider the project team’s availability and workload. The project manager should document the time estimates and communicate them to all stakeholders to ensure everyone is aware of the project’s timeline.

In conclusion, project planning is a critical stage in the project management process. It helps to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. By defining the project scope, breaking down tasks, and estimating time, project managers can create a roadmap for success.

Quality Control

Quality control is an essential aspect of project management that ensures the deliverables meet the requirements and expectations of the stakeholders. It is a process that involves monitoring and verifying the project’s progress to identify any defects or deficiencies that may affect the quality of the final product.

Importance of Quality Control

Quality control is crucial to the success of any project. It helps to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of the stakeholders. By identifying and correcting any defects or deficiencies early in the project, quality control saves resources by reducing the need for rework or costly changes later on.

Quality Control Processes

The quality control process involves several key steps, including:

1. Inspection: Inspection involves examining the work product or deliverable to identify any defects or deficiencies that may affect its quality. This can be done through visual inspection, testing, or other means.

2. Testing: Testing involves evaluating the work product or deliverable to ensure that it meets the specified requirements and performs as expected. This can include functional testing, performance testing, or other types of testing.

3. Verification: Verification involves ensuring that the work product or deliverable meets the quality standards and requirements set forth in the project plan. This can be done through reviews, audits, or other means.

4. Documentation: Documentation involves recording the results of the quality control process, including any defects or deficiencies identified, the actions taken to correct them, and the overall quality of the work product or deliverable.

Quality Control Techniques

There are several techniques that project managers can use to ensure effective quality control, including:

1. Statistical Process Control (SPC): SPC involves using statistical methods to monitor and control the quality of the project’s processes. This can help to identify any trends or patterns that may indicate a problem with the process.

2. Pareto Analysis: Pareto analysis involves identifying the most significant problems or defects and focusing on correcting them first. This can help to ensure that the most critical issues are addressed first, saving time and resources.

3. Root Cause Analysis (RCA): RCA involves identifying the underlying causes of defects or deficiencies and addressing them to prevent similar problems from occurring in the future. This can help to improve the overall quality of the project’s deliverables.

Overall, effective quality control is essential to the success of any project. By implementing quality control processes and techniques, project managers can ensure that their projects meet the requirements and expectations of the stakeholders and are completed on time, within budget, and to a high level of quality.

Project Closure

Project closure is the final phase of the project management lifecycle. It involves systematically wrapping up all project activities, delivering the final product or service, and formally closing the project. The project closure phase officially puts an end to the project and provides a concrete plan for next steps, whether that’s transitioning project ownership to another team, starting a new project to improve on your work, or incorporating lessons learned into future projects.

Project Evaluation

The project evaluation is a crucial part of the project closure process. It involves reviewing the project’s objectives, deliverables, and outcomes to determine whether the project was successful or not. The evaluation should be conducted by the project team and stakeholders, and it should be based on the project’s original goals and objectives.

During the project evaluation, the team should assess the project’s performance, including its schedule, budget, quality, and scope. They should also evaluate the project’s risks, issues, and changes, and determine whether they were effectively managed. The team should also identify the project’s strengths and weaknesses, and identify opportunities for improvement.

Documentation

Documentation is another critical aspect of the project closure process. It involves creating and organizing all project-related documents, including project plans, schedules, budgets, contracts, and reports. The project team should ensure that all project documents are complete, accurate, and up-to-date and that they are stored in a secure and accessible location.

The project team should also prepare a final report that summarizes the project’s objectives, deliverables, outcomes, and evaluation results. The report should also include any recommendations for future projects, such as lessons learned and best practices. The final report should be distributed to all stakeholders, including the project sponsor, the project team, and other interested parties.

Conclusion

In conclusion, project management is a crucial tool for achieving project success. It involves disciplining all resources involved in the project to achieve its goals. The importance of project management cannot be overemphasized, as it ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders.

Effective change management is an integral part of project planning and execution. Failure to manage change properly can result in project failure or reduced effectiveness. Therefore, it is essential to manage change as an integral part of project planning and execution.

Finally, project managers must have strong leadership skills to effectively manage their teams. They must be able to inspire, motivate, and guide team members to achieve project goals. Effective communication is also crucial, as it ensures that all team members are on the same page and working towards the same objectives.

You Can Be Forgiven. AG Daily Devotional.

Tuesday 26th September, 2023

TOPIC: YOU CAN BE FORGIVEN!

KEY VERSE:

“Have mercy upon me, O God, According to your loving-kindness; According to the multitude of your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions” (Psalm 51:1).

TODAY’S READING
Psalm 51:1 -15

ONE-YEAR BIBLE STUDY PLAN
Nehemiah 1-5

COMMENTARY

The background to Psalm 51 is 2 Samuel 11 and 12 which record David’s sin of adultery with Bathsheba, the killing of her husband, Uriah, in an unsuccessful attempt to cover it up, and the just judgment of God for the dastardly act delivered by Prophet Nathan.

In a demonstration of humility, remorse, and penitence, David wrote the Psalm in which he admitted his iniquity and cried for God’s mercy..

According to 2 Sam 11, David’s steps into the two sins began with idleness, not going to war when he was supposed to do so with his soldiers, and lack of self-control.

The next one, he saw the woman bathing. She was so beautiful he couldn’t resist the urge to sleep
with her and so he used his position as a king to send for her.

The encounter resulted in pregnancy. David fought very hard to lure her husband with unusual deeds of kindness to go to his house and sleep with his wife and be responsible for the pregnancy but he wouldn’t, so he sent a letter to Joab to post him to the hottest part of the battle, without any good support so that the enemy might kill him and it was so.

Thus, upon Uriah’s death, David sent for Bathsheba who became his wife. Managing sin is often not a very easy task. It can lead to murdering innocent people as in this case.

No human being is above temptation including sexual sins but the Bible says we should flee from such temptations, 1Cor. 6: 18; 1 Thess 5:22.

If we fall into sin as human beings we should show remorse, Confess, repent of it, and pray for God’s mercy, without passing the buck or attacking “Prophet Nathan”, 1 John 1:7-9. As part of God’s judgment, the child that was born died.

However, in response to David’s cry for mercy, God showed up on 2 Sam 12:24-25. Bathsheba conceived again and gave birth to Solomon. You too can be forgiven.

CONTROLLING THOUGHTS

If we fall into sin as human beings we should show remorse, confess, and repent.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, I come to You as I am, have mercy upon me, and forgive my sins in Jesus’ name.
