LESSON INTRODUCTION

The translated word for “perilous” in 2 Timothy 3:1 is ‘chalepos’, which means troublesome, dangerous, fierce, dreadful, etc. The term, last days, refers to the period between Christ’s ascension into Heaven and His second coming. Perilous times constitute part of the last days. The ‘last days’ is not just a prophecy. It started from the days of  the Bible (1 John 2:18-19). The importance of the prophecy and warning against the perilous times cannot be over-emphasised because we are living in the fulfilment of these perilous times. The purpose of this study is to carefully consider the writing of Paul to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:1-5 on the things that characterise the Perilous Times and the position every believer in Christ should take.

LESSON AIM: To study the characteristics of the perilous times and some cautions for believers.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: Through this lesson, students should be able to:

a. Understand the characteristics of the perilous times.
b. Discover some cautions for believers against the period.

A. Students should:
a. Take the opening prayer.
b. Recite the memory verse.
c. Read  the Bible passage.

LESSON OUTLINES:

  1. CHARACTERISTICS OF PERILOUS TIMES
  2. CAUTION FOR BELIEVERS

1. CHARACTERISTICS OF PERILOUS TIMES

According to Paul, the conduct of the people will reveal perilous times. These characteristics are indicated below:

iii. Boasters – expressing vain glory (Psalm 10:3).

iv. Proud – valuing themselves above all others (Proverbs 21:4).

v. Blasphemers – those who speak immorally of God and sacred things (Mark 3:29).

vi. Disobedient to parents- disrespecting and dishonouring parents both physically and spiritually (Romans 1:30).

vii. Unthankful – not appreciating God and others for good deeds (Romans 1:21).

viii. Unholy – not pleasing God (Jude 18).

ix. Lack of natural affection – no family affection and lack of tender love (2 Timothy 3:3, Romans 1:31).

xviii. ‘Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof’ (2 Timothy 3:5)- Being religious but not victorious above sin, outwardly looking good but inwardly rotten in unrighteousness (Matthew 23:27).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Each student should mention one characteristic of the perilous times.

2. CAUTION FOR BELIEVERS

Scriptures admonish believers living in this ‘last days’ to

i. Turn away from all ungodly practices in order not to be caught in the web of the perilous times (2 Timothy 3:5).

ii. Receive the prophecies/warning and be conscious of it at all times.

iii. Separate from the company and fellowship of people with the characters above (2 Corinthians 6:14-17).

iv. Avoid all forms of carnality and false doctrines (Romans 8:6-7; Ephesians 4:14).

v. Be watchful and be prayerful to guard against deception and temptation to sin (Matthew 26:41; 2 Corinthians 2:11).

vi. Release ourselves to the Holy Spirit and be sensitive to His leading (James 4:7; Romans 8:14).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: What roles can believers play to ensure they remain in the faith in this period?

CONCLUSION: This is a perilous time; every believer that wants to get to heaven must heed the warning, and be careful to live a separate life from the world and false brethren to please God.

  1. What events will characterise the perilous times?
  2. What scriptural cautions are believers to adhere to during perilous times?

EVALUATION: What are the signs of perilous times and the cautions for the believers?

CLOSING PRAYER: Almighty God, please carry me on Your wings and do not let me perish in these perilous times.

ASSIGNMENT: Mention five (5) measures you have put in place to overcome the perilous times (2×5=10 Marks).

Rahab: An Unlikely Ally: RCCG Sunday School Manual

TOPIC – Rahab: An Unlikely Ally

MEMORY VERSE: “By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.” – Hebrews 11:31 (KJV)

 BIBLE PASSAGE: Joshua 2:1-6, 12-13

Joshua 2:1-6:
2 And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot’s house, named Rahab, and lodged there.

2 And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.

3 And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.

4 And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:

5 And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.

6 But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

Joshua 2:12-13:
12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father’s house, and give me a true token:

13 And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.

INTRODUCTION:
The story of rehab is one of the thought-provoking accounts in  the Bible. The occasion that projected her into the hall of fame is that of a great faith in the GOD of Israel whom she knew almost nothing about. She rose from being a harlot to a joint heir in the Abrahamic covenant and eventually got a space in the lineage of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5). Her life gives us a deeper insight into what God can do with the life of every sinner who comes to Him.

  1. HER CHARACTER
  2. ACHIEVEMENTS AND LESSONS FROM HER LIFE

1. HER CHARACTER

Rehab, in Hebrew, means “wide.” She lived in the 12th century B.C. She was a canaanite harlot who lived in Jericho City (Joshua 2:5). She rented rooms to travelers and visitors who came into the city. This explains why the two spies sent by Joshua found lodging in our house.

Her character is that of a selfless woman who saved her household with a negotiation skills (Joshua 2:12-13). She knew what to do with the information at her disposal. Rahab asked the two Israel spies to swear by the Lord thereby showing her faith in the only true God. She was smart enough to know that her city would be overthrown. In her wisdom she joined herself to the winning side (Joshua 2:9-10).

2. ACHIEVEMENTS AND LESSONS FROM HER LIFE

ACHIEVEMENTS
She skillfully hid the spies to prevent the king of Jericho from capturing and executing them (Joshua 2:6). this act of kindness earned her salvation from destruction (Joshua 6:25). She believed all the stories about the God of Israel even without seeing them (Joshua 2:10)

Rahab was a skillful negotiator who selflessly made the spies swear to spare her and her household (Joshua 2:13). The book of Hebrews name her among Faith heroes in the Old Testament (Hebrews 11:31). James records her has been justified by works (James 2:25). Matthew list her in the lineage of Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5)

LESSONS FROM HER LIFE
Rahab stepped out of her harlotry into faith in God. So, anyone can change from bad to good (Isaiah 1:18). We should show kindness to people, just as Rahab did to the spies (Galatians 6:10). She walked by Faith and not by sight (Joshua 2:9-12). We also are expected to walk by Faith (2 Corinthians 5:7). Just as she ensured the safety of her household (Joshua 2:18-21), every child of God should ensure the salvation of his/her family (Acts 16:31).
Furthermore, she was diligent enough to follow instructions (Joshua 2:18; 6:22-23). Likewise, believers must carefully follow the right instruction (Proverbs 4:13)

CONCLUSION
Rahab is a typical example of God’s transformative power do not write yourself or anyone off.

QUESTION

  1. Mention three characters that stood Rahab out.
  2. Identify three lessons that can be learnt from the life of Rahab.

OPENING PRAYER: Father, help me to live a life that glorifies Your name in the name of Jesus.

BIBLE PASSAGE: 2 Peter 1:3-7.
[3]According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
[4]Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
[5]And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
[6]And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
[7]And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

MEMORY VERSE

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. 2 Peter 1:3.

INTRODUCTION

There are two root words in Greek translated virtue. The first is dunamis as in Luke 6:19; 8:46 meaning miraculous power. The second is arête meaning ‘moral excellence’ or ‘goodness.’ In the context of the later, “virtue” is a right inner disposition. A disposition is a tendency to act in certain ways. It is not an impulse but a settled habit of mind. Virtues are general character traits that provide inner sanctions on our particular motives, intentions, and outward conduct.

LESSON AIM: To study how to attain virtue and to increase the desire to excel.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: This lesson should:
a. Provide adequate guides on how to attain virtue.
b. Enable students to increase their desire to excel.

TEACHING PLAN:
To attain the above-stated objectives,
A. Students should:
a. Take the opening prayer together.
b. Recite the memory verse.
c. Read the Bible passage.
d. Participate in class activities and discussions.

B. The Assistant Teacher should:

a. Review the previous week’s lesson.
b. Guide the student to carry out the class activities.
c. Conduct the class.
d. Mark the attendance and assignment.

C. The teacher should:
a. Take the opening section of the lesson.
b. Explain the two lesson outline.
c. Summarize, conclude, and evaluate the lesson.
d. Give assignment and take the closing prayer.

TEXT REVIEW: 2 Peter 1:3-7.
The teacher should identify five areas where believers should desire to grow and why?
i. ………………………………………………………
ii. ………………………………………………………
iii. …………………………………………………….
iv. …………………………………………………….
v. ……………………………………………………..

OUTLINES:
1. ATTAINING VIRTUE
2. THE DESIRE TO EXCEL

1. ATTAINING VIRTUE
i. Our God is excellent in all ways (Psalm 76:4). He expects His children to be like Him (1 Peter 1:15-16).
ii. Hence, the main aim of a Christian should be to walk to please God.
iii. Virtue is attainable only if we follow the divine guidelines (Philippians 4:8).
iv. 2 Peter 1:5-7 tells us how to attain virtue.
v. It is like a ladder; the attaining of one leads to the next, and so on. The sequence begins with faith and ends with love.
vi. Without faith, nobody can have virtue. Faith supplies moral excellence as taught in the Bible (Hebrews 11:6).
vii. After we have attained some knowledge, we add self-control, or self-discipline (1 Corinthians 9:27).
viii. This is the opposite of the excess of the world. Perseverance means to view the unfolding of time with God’s eyes (Hebrews 12:2).
ix. Godliness means that we have a very practical awareness of God in every aspect of our life (1 Timothy 6:6; 2 Peter 1:3).
x. Kindness is described here as “Philadelphia,” the kind of love that we have for brothers and sisters. The most magnificent virtue of all: is Christian love. This love is “agape” and results in self-sacrificing action for another (1 Corinthians 13; 1 John. 3:16).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: The Class should discuss some factors that can prevent believers from growing in virtues.

2..THE DESIRE TO EXCEL

i. The desire to excel comes with the recognition of excellence and a consciousness of falling short of it.
ii. The goal is to be like Jesus Christ because He is the glory of God revealed (Hebrews 1:3).
iii. This desire to excel also involves a willingness to give up lesser things to achieve a greater goal (Matthew 19:16-26) and preparedness to work hard towards perfection (Matthew 17:15-21).
iv. There must also be a readiness to be taught, not only by those who are in a higher position but anyone regardless of position or age (1 Corinthians 1:19-29).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Why do we have a higher percentage of the world population below the excellent level?

CONCLUSION: Now we see that if we indeed have these virtues as an integral part of our being, and if they continue to increase as we apply them, then we lead a useful, fruitful life for Christ.

QUESTIONS:
* What is the will of God for His children?
* How will you recognise the desire to excel in you?

EVALUATION: Explain how to attain virtue and excel.

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, please help me to attain virtue and excel.

ASSIGNMENT: What are the causes of the absence of godly virtues in the lives of some Christians (2×5=10 marks).

Long Tail Keyword Research: Secrets To Ranking On Search Engines

Long tail keyword research is a crucial aspect of SEO and content marketing. Here are the key steps and strategies for conducting effective long tail keyword research:

Understanding Long Tail Keywords

Characteristics:
Specific: Long tail keywords are usually 3-5 words long and very specific.
Low Competition: They often have less competition compared to broad keywords.
High Conversion Rate: Because they are specific, they tend to have a higher conversion rate.
Benefits of Long Tail Keywords
Higher Conversion Rates: These keywords target users with specific search intent, increasing the likelihood of conversion.
Lower Competition: Easier to rank for compared to short, highly competitive keywords.
Better Targeting: Helps in attracting a niche audience that is more likely to be interested in your products or services.
Voice Search Optimization: They align well with how people use voice search, which is becoming more prevalent.
Steps for Long Tail Keyword Research
Brainstorming: Start by thinking about the topics related to your business or niche. Consider the specific questions or needs your audience might have.

Using Keyword Research Tools:

Google Keyword Planner: Offers keyword suggestions and data on search volume and competition.
Ubersuggest: Provides keyword ideas, search volume, and SEO difficulty.
AnswerThePublic: Visualizes questions and phrases people are searching for related to your keyword.
Ahrefs: Offers a comprehensive keyword research tool with metrics like search volume, keyword difficulty, and traffic potential.
SEMrush: Another robust tool for finding long tail keywords and analyzing competitors.
Analyzing Competitors: Look at what keywords your competitors are ranking for. Tools like Ahrefs and SEMrush can help you identify these keywords.

Exploring Google Suggestions:

Autocomplete: Type your base keyword into Google’s search bar and note the suggestions that appear.
Related Searches: Scroll to the bottom of the search results page to see related searches.
Using Question-Based Keywords: People often search in the form of questions. Use tools like AnswerThePublic or check out the “People also ask” section on Google.

Forum and Community Insights: Check out forums, Q&A sites like Quora, and social media groups related to your niche to see the language people use and the specific problems they are discussing.

Tools and Techniques

Google Search Console: Review the search queries that are already bringing traffic to your site and identify long tail opportunities.
Content Gap Analysis: Identify keywords that your competitors rank for but you don’t. This can reveal long tail opportunities.
Customer Feedback: Analyze customer inquiries, feedback, and reviews to identify common terms and phrases.
Implementing Long Tail Keywords
Content Creation: Develop content around these keywords. This can include blog posts, FAQs, product descriptions, and more.
On-Page Optimization: Incorporate long tail keywords naturally into your content, meta tags, headers, and URLs.
Monitoring and Adjusting: Use analytics tools to track the performance of your long tail keywords and adjust your strategy as needed.
Example of Long Tail Keyword Research
Suppose you run an online store selling eco-friendly kitchen products. Here’s how you might conduct long tail keyword research:

Brainstorming: Think about specific products and customer needs, e.g., “reusable silicone food bags,” “organic cotton dish towels,” “biodegradable kitchen sponges.”

Using Tools:

Google Keyword Planner might suggest related terms like “best reusable silicone food bags” or “where to buy biodegradable kitchen sponges.”
AnswerThePublic might reveal questions like “Are silicone food bags safe?” or “How to clean organic cotton dish towels.”
Competitor Analysis: Use Ahrefs to see what keywords similar eco-friendly product stores are ranking for and find gaps in your own keyword strategy.

Google Suggestions: Typing “reusable silicone food bags” into Google may autocomplete to “reusable silicone food bags for sous vide” or “best reusable silicone food bags 2023.”

Content Creation: Write a detailed blog post titled “Top 10 Best Reusable Silicone Food Bags for Sous Vide Cooking in 2023.”

By focusing on these specific, intent-driven keywords, you can attract highly targeted traffic that is more likely to convert.

15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

LESSON INTRODUCTION: One business that every believer has been called to do is Evangelism (or witnessing (2 Corinthians 5:17-18). It is the act of preaching the gospel to share the message and teachings of Jesus Christ. In simple terms, evangelism on the go is to be busy, active, and innovative with the preaching of the gospel of Jesus. Different channels must be employed to reach the lost with the gospel of salvation. The preaching of the gospel is a serious business assigned to us by the Master. It must be consciously, consistently, and conscientiously done by all believers.

LESSON AIM: To study the significance of evangelism.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: Through this lesson, students should be able to:

a. Understand that evangelism is the father’s business.
b. Understand that evangelism is also our business too.

A. Students should:
a. Take the opening prayer together.
b. Recite the memory verse.

d. Do the assignment.
e. Take the closing prayer together.

B. The Assistant Teacher should:
a. Review the previous week’s lesson.

The teacher should identify five crucial points related to evangelism from the above Bible passage.
i. ………………………………………………………
ii. ………………………………………………………
iii. ……….……………………………………………
iv. …………………………………………………….
v. ………………………………………………………

LESSON OUTLINES:

THE FATHER’S BUSINESS
OUR BUSINESS TOO

#1 THE FATHER’S BUSINESS

i. The preaching of the gospel to the lost is so important that Jesus said He was specifically anointed by His Father for it (Luke 4:18).

ii. He also reiterated this point in Luke 4:43 when he said preaching the kingdom of God is a must for Him because that was why He was sent.

iii. God is so particular about the lost that Jesus said it is not His will that they perish (Matthew 18:14).

iv. Jesus also said He came to the world to save the lost (Matthew 18:11).
v. Jesus, in the parable of the lost sheep, depicts the importance of a soul when the shepherd left 99 sheep to go after one lost sheep – soul (Matthew 18:12).

vi. Speaking of how he must preach the gospel, Apostle Paul placed a curse on himself, if he failed to preach the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:16).

vii. He also boldly declared that he was sent to preach the gospel (1 Corinthians 1:17a).

viii. The value of a soul is so much that there is rejoicing in Heaven when one soul repents (Luke 15:7).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Every soul is precious to God. Explain.

#2 OUR BUSINESS TOO

The teacher should explain the significance of evangelism assignment to believers as indicated below:

IMPORTANCE

i. Preaching the gospel to the lost is a serious occupation Jesus handed to His followers when He gave the command to go in Mark 16:15.

ii. This kingdom business must be done with zeal and divine wisdom (John 4:34; Ecclesiastes 10:10).

iii. It is an all-time trade (Luke 9:60). There is no room for giving up in this occupation of witnessing Jesus (Acts 5:42).

STRATEGY
iv. As a good businessman, you must be strategic, creative and seize every opportunity to talk to people about Jesus (Acts 26:27-29; 1 Corinthians 9:19-23).

v. This business must be done sacrificially. It may not be convenient at times, but you must still go ahead and witness Jesus (2 Timothy 4:2).

vi. As a business is driven by focus, the goal of evangelism is to make Jesus known, and win souls for Him (1 Corinthians 2:2; Romans 1:14-15).

vii. Business owners attract people to themselves; so must you live in such a way that everything you do preaches Jesus to others; live evangelism (Galatians 2:20; 1 Corinthians 11:1).

viii. This business must flourish in your hand as you continue to witness Christ to lost souls (Acts 8:5-6; Daniel 12:3).

ix. A successful business goes beyond a generation. In the same vein, the witness of Christ must go to the next generation (2 Timothy 1:5; 2:2).

x. The God factor is key for a successful business; therefore, intensive prayer is needed for evangelism.

FOCUS

xi. The trademark of this business is Jesus; who is the sole message (Colossians 1:27-28).

URGENCY
xii. Time is of the essence in business, do not delay to preach Jesus to the lost (John 4:35).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Why should the following elements/tools be considered very necessary in preaching the gospel?

a. Prayer.
b. Jesus Christ.
c. Time (urgency).

CONCLUSION: Evangelism is a serious kingdom business. Be actively involved.

QUESTIONS

Mention four ways evangelism is the Father’s business.
In three ways, relate conventional business with the business of evangelising.
EVALUATION: How important is the preaching of the gospel to God and believers?

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, please help Your children to be fully involved in the preaching of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

ASSIGNMENT: Identify five factors that can make evangelism effective (2×5=10 marks).

Fulfilling Purpose. RCCG Sunday School Teachers.

OPENING PRAYER: Almighty Father, please help me to fulfil the purpose for which You created me in the name of Jesus.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The teacher should allow the Assistant teacher to review the lesson for the previous week.

MEMORY VERSE: “Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.” – John 18:37 (KJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Philippians 3:12-14 (KJV)

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: God does not waste resources. Hence, everything He created is for a purpose. The sun gives light and never ceases to shine (Psalms 136:7-9), the cloud gives rain in due season and trees provide food and shade accordingly (Leviticus 26:4). Other animals play their parts without hesitation. Amazingly, man struggles to understand and fulfil his purpose for living. The discovery, as well as fulfilment of divine purpose, is the focus of today’s lesson.

LESSON AIM: To study how to discover and fulfil purpose.

TEXT REVIEW: Philippians 3:12-14.

The teacher should identify five things which Apostle Paul did in the passage to fulfil the purpose for which he was called.

i. …………………………………………………………
ii. ……………………………………………………….
iii. ………………………………………………………
iv. ………………………………………………………
v. ………………………………………………………

LESSON OUTLINES:

  1. DISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE
  2. LIVE TO FULFIL IT

#1 DISCOVER YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE

Like Apostle Paul, once you become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), you must begin to crave for the understanding of your purpose for living on earth (Philippians 3:12). That purpose has been predetermined by God before you were born (Jeremiah 1:5; Galatians 1:15). It is your duty to discover and fulfil it.

Here are some practical pointers to your purpose for living:

A. POTENTIAL
i. You need to identify your in-built ability, your talents, and God-given gifts (Ephesians 4:7).
ii. Find out the things you do with less stress e.g., singing, drawing, talking to a crowd, helping others, etc.
iii. The knowledge or skills you acquire in life should be to shape and sharpen your potential (Acts 7:22).

B. PASSION
i. What are those things you exceptionally have flare or zeal for, and do often?
ii. Build your vocation or career on such things.
iii. The things that get you excited, give you joy and satisfaction can lead you to the fulfilment of your purpose in life (Psalm 69:9; Colossians 4:12-13).

C. PRAYER
After you have identified your potential and the things you are passionate about, you need to pray for divine guidance, so that the world and the enemy will not hijack your purpose in life (Acts 9:1-2).

#2 LIVE TO FULFIL IT

These seven things will help every child of God fulfil his/her purpose in life.

  1. Ask God to reveal His plan for your life to you (Jeremiah 1:4-5). Then, draw a vision and mission statement (Proverbs 29:18; Habakkuk 2:2).
  2. Set achievable goals and pursue them (Acts 20:24). Take a step at a time and do not be mediocre (Psalm 37:23).
  3. Identify and relate with people of like passion: learn from their mistakes and build on their success (2 Kings 2:1-2, 14).
  4. Submit yourself for mentoring and counselling: do not claim to know it all (Acts 18:24-26; Prov. 11:14).
  5. Live as if you have just one more day on earth: do not procrastinate (Luke 9:61).
  6. Focus your attention on God (Hebrews 12:2). Make sure all that you do is to His pleasing (Colossians 1:10).
  7. Always return all the glory to God: do not ascribe anything to yourself (Isaiah 42:8).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention the ways in which so many people live without fulfilling purpose.

CONCLUSION: So many people live and die without leaving any positive mark. Be different. You are not a nonentity.

QUESTIONS:

  1. Discuss the practical pointers to the discovery of one’s purpose in life.
  2. Mention the paths to the fulfilment of purpose in life.

EVALUATION: How can you discover and fulfil the purpose for which you were created?

CLOSING PRAYER: Father, help me to fulfil my purpose in life in Jesus’ name.

ASSIGNMENT: Write five people in the Bible who gave up their profession to fulfill their destiny with scriptural reference each. (2×5=10 marks).

RCCG SOD Year 2: How To Conduct Deliverance.

HOW TO CONDUCT DELIVERANCE

The devil’s sole aim is to hinder your progress and he does this in three ways:

(1) By holding you down. That is, by oppression, depression and regression-

(2) By getting you to go round in circles obsession, that is, doing only one thing continuously, for example, eating all the time.

(3) To get you to go in the direction opposite the way you should go. This is called possession.

Deliverance of the oppressed should follow three major steps:

(a) Locate the cause of the problem

(b) Execute deliverance

(c) Counsel the fellow on how to remain free.

LOCATE THE CAUSE

Find the door opener to the devil. It could be a curse or there might be need for restitution somewhere The cause might also be unforgiveness or maybe the person had been jilted A door way may also be because someone’s joy is tied to another’s sorrow For example, taking another man’s wife or being dubious, robbing God, failure to pay tuthes and constant disobedience to God’s voice.

Locating the door way of the enemy makes deliverance casier. This is because it exposes the route through which the enemy comes in It reveals the agent of destruction. It also aids counselling on how to avoid counter attack

EXECUTE DELIVERANCE

Qualifications for executing deliverance.

The one who is going to execute deliverance must be qualified to do so. Otherwise, he will be in problem. To execute deliverance, you must:

Be born again

(2) Spirit filled

(3) Must be clean that is, must not be possessed of demons because demon cannot cast out demon John 14.30.

14) You must not have harmful habits like smoking and drinking of alcohol.

(5) You must not be a debtor.

(6) You must not be somebody who exaggerates.

The Oppressed to be set free

(1) Must be made to realise and appreciate deliverance

(2) Must be co-operative, i.e must be willing and ready to accept Jesus as his Saviour.

The Process of Deliverance

Ten basic steps are involved in carrying our deliverance

(1) Plead the Blood of Jesus first of all over yourself

(2) Plead the Blood of Jesus over all children present.

(3) Plead the Blood of Jesus over the oppressed,

(4) Take authority over the oppressors based on the Bible, because the Bible savs so.

(5) Bind the oppressors after taking authority.

(6) Loose the hold of the oppressor.

(7) Command the oppressors to cease in their operation and to desist from their manouvers and to get out of the oppressed.

(8) Declare the oppressed free in Jesus name. If you believe, you can speak to the mountains to be lifted into the sea. Demons can be mountains (Mark 11:23. Matthew 18:18).

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 11:1-6.
[1]But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;
[2]Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
[3]And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
[4]For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
[5]For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
[6]And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

MEMORY VERSE: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11.

INTRODUCTION: Destiny is God’s purpose for a man’s life. It is a divinely pre-planned destination. It is the totality of God’s counsel for a person and what He has decided concerning a person even before conception (Jeremiah 1:5). As good as it is, at several points in life, it still depends on one’s attitude and agreement with God. God has a prepared destination for us and we must surrender totally to Him to avoid destiny destroyers that may want to scuttle God’s plan for our lives.

OUTLINES:
1. DESTINY DESTROYERS
2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES

1. DESTINY DESTROYERS

Some destiny destroyers are mentioned below.
1. Ignorance: This is a destiny destroyer (Hosea 4:6). If we are aware of our destiny, we shall be free, focused, and fulfiled. Failure to do so may lead to destruction (John 8:32).
2. Pursuit Of Vanity: Solomon pursued so much vanity until he became a complete backslider. The privileges of wealth and lack of self-control ruined his destiny (Ecclesiastes 2:10-11).
3. Lack Of Faith: This is also a destiny destroyer (1Timothy 1:19).
4. Pride: Pride is excessive self-esteem. It is when you are filled with an exciting sense of credit due to yourself. Pride is a sin and it leads to loss and destruction (James 4:6).
5. Sinful Lifestyles: Sins not confessed and forsaken are dangerous because they provoke God to anger. A man who is living in sin cannot fulfil his destiny or attain the eternal destination which God has promised (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:23).
6. Anger: Uncontrolled emotional outburst has led many people out of God’s purpose for their lives (Ecclesiastes 7:9; Proverbs 29:22).
7. Laziness: This will make an idle person perpetually under the industrious person. (Proverbs 12:24).
8. Prayerlessness: It can cause the enemy to take advantage of a man’s destiny (Matt.13:25).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should mention some of the things people are engaged in that are capable of destroying their destinies.

#2 BIBLICAL INSTANCES

There are cases of people who, by one means or the other, had their destinies destroyed. They include Solomon (1Kings 11:1-11), Samson (Judges 16:6-18), Judas Iscariot (Matthew 27:3-5), Demas (2Timothy 4:10), Gehazi (2 Kings 5:20-27), Reuben (Genesis 49:3-4), Achan (Joshua 7:24-25).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention why you think some people are bent on destroying their own destinies e.g smokers.

CONCLUSION: Run away from destiny destroyers and make up your mind to live a life that will enhance the fulfilment of your destiny.

QUESTIONS:
* Mention five destiny destroyers that you know.
* Identify four cases of people whose destinies were destroyed as found in the bible

ASSIGNMENT: Mention five people in the Bible whose destinies were destroyed and the cause. (2×5=10 marks).

MEMORY VERSE: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 11:1-6 (KJV)

1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites:

2 Of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.

LESSON INTRODUCTION

Destiny is God’s purpose for a man’s life.

LESSON AIM: To study some destiny destroyers and victims of destiny destroyers.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:

Through this lesson, students should be able to:
a. Discover those things that can destroy destinies.
b. Discover some examples of people who were victims of destiny-destroying forces.

TEACHING PLAN:

To attain the above objectives, the teacher should:
a. Allow the Assistant Teacher to review the previous week’s lesson. Furthermore, the Assistant Teacher should conduct the lesson, guide the students to recite the memory verse, read the Bible passage, conduct the class, and mark the attendance and the assignment.
b. Students should respond to the instructions of the Assistant Teacher. They should participate in the class activities and take the opening and closing prayers together. The teacher should explain the two lesson outline to the students, summarize, conclude, and evaluate the lesson then give the assignment.

TEXT REVIEW: 1 Kings 11:1-6.

The teacher should identify any five (5) things from the Bible passage which King Solomon did to provoke God.

LESSON OUTLINES:

DESTINY DESTROYERS
BIBLICAL INSTANCES
1. DESTINY DESTROYERS

BIBLICAL INSTANCES

Some destiny destroyers are mentioned below:

Ignorance: This is a destiny destroyer (Hosea 4:6). If we are aware of our destiny, we shall be free, focused, and fulfilled. Failure to do so may lead to destruction (John 8:32).
Pursuit Of Vanity: Solomon pursued so much vanity until he became a complete backslider. The privileges of wealth and lack of self-control ruined his destiny (Ecclesiastes 2:10-11).
Lack Of Faith: This is also a destiny destroyer (1 Timothy 1:19).
Pride: Pride is excessive self-esteem. It is when you are filled with an exciting sense of credit due to yourself. Pride is a sin and it leads to loss and destruction (James 4:6).
Sinful Lifestyles: Sins not confessed and forsaken are dangerous because they provoke God to anger. A man who is living in sin cannot fulfil his destiny or attain the eternal destination which God has promised (1 John 3:4; Romans 3:23).
Anger: Uncontrolled emotional outburst has led many people out of God’s purpose for their lives (Ecclesiastes 7:9; Proverbs 29:22).
Laziness: This will make an idle person perpetually under the industrious person. (Proverbs 12:24).
Prayerlessness: It can cause the enemy to take advantage of a man’s destiny (Matthew 13:25).
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should mention some of the things people are engaged in that are capable of destroying their destinies.

#2  BIBLICAL INSTANCES

There are cases of people who, by one means or the other, had their destinies destroyed. They include:

i. Solomon (1 Kings 11:1-11).
ii. Samson (Judges 16:6-18).
iii. Judas Iscariot (Matthew 27:3-5).
iv. Demas (2 Timothy 4:10).
v. Gehazi (2 Kings 5:20-27).
vi. Reuben (Genesis 49:3-4).
vii. Achan (Joshua 7:24-25).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention why you think some people are bent on destroying their own destinies e.g. smokers.

CONCLUSION: Run away from destiny destroyers and make up your mind to live a life that will enhance the fulfilment of your destiny.

QUESTIONS:

Mention five destiny destroyers that you know.
Identify four cases of people whose destinies were destroyed as found in the Bible
EVALUATION: Mention why you think some people are bent on destroying their own destinies- e.g. smokers.

CLOSING PRAYER: Saviour, please do not let me permit anything to destroy my destiny in Jesus’ name.

ASSIGNMENT: Mention five people in the Bible whose destinies were destroyed and the cause. (2×5=10 marks).

Cultural Christianity. RCCG Sunday School Teachers.

RCCG Sunday School Teacher Manual 9 June 2024 TOPIC: Cultural Christianity

OPENING PRAYER: Almighty Father, please make me a shining light in the name of Jesus.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The teacher should allow the Assistant teacher to review the lesson for the previous week.

MEMORY VERSE: “And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.” – Acts 11:26 (KJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: The Christian faith is the experience of daily living in a dynamic and new personal relationship with God (Romans 10:9-10; John 1:11-13). The very term “Christian” was coined in the city of Antioch as a way to identify the first followers of Christ (Acts 11:26). The first disciples were so much like Jesus that they were called little Christs by their detractors. It is unfortunate that nowadays, some people have made Christianity represent an ideology or a social class rather than a lifestyle of obedience to God. Today, there are two shades of Christianity: Cultural Christianity and Biblical Christianity.

LESSON AIM: To study what cultural Christianity is and some of its identification marks.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:

Through the lesson, students should be able to:
a. Understand who cultural Christians are.
b. Identify some marks of cultural Christianity.

TEACHING PLAN: To achieve the above-stated objective, the teacher could plan the lesson as follows:

a. The students should be allowed to take the opening prayer, memory verse, and Bible passage. They should participate in class activities, and do their assignments.
b. The Assistant Teacher should take the lesson introduction.
c. The Teacher should explain the lesson outline, summarize, conclude, evaluate the lesson, and give an assignment.

TEXT REVIEW: Matthew 7:21-23.

A. The teacher should identify five great works in the passage above that will attract no value before Christ and state why.
i. …………………………………………………………
ii. ………………………………………………………
iii. ………………………………………………………
iv. ………………………………………………………
v. ……….. ……………………………………………

TEACHING METHOD: The teacher should apply the lecture and discussion teaching methods.

TIME MANAGEMENT: The teacher should share the outline’s time equally between the two lesson outlines.

LESSON OUTLINES:

  1. CULTURAL CHRISTIANITY DESCRIBED
  2. IDENTIFICATION MARKS

1. CULTURAL CHRISTIANITY DESCRIBED

Cultural Christians are nominal believers who superficially identify themselves as “Christians” but do not truly adhere to the tenets of the Christian faith (Matthew 15:8). ii. They wear the label “Christian” without personal conviction that Jesus is Lord (2 Timothy 3:5).
iii. Cultural Christianity is more social than spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:14-15).
iv. A cultural Christian identifies with certain aspects of Christianity, such as the good works of Jesus (John 6:26-27), but rejects the spiritual aspects required to be a biblically defined Christian (Romans 8:5).
v. Some people consider themselves Christians because of family background, charity giving, place of residence, Christian name or title, churchgoing or social environment.
vi. Others identify as Christians as a way of declaring a religious affiliation.
vii. Cultural Christianity is not true Christianity.
There was no such thing as cultural Christianity in the days of the early church.

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should differentiate between true Christians and cultural Christians.

2. IDENTIFICATION MARKS

The following are some identifying marks of cultural Christians:

  1. They deny the inspiration of Scripture or parts of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21).
  2. They ignore or downplay true repentance as the first step toward knowing God (Matthew 4:17; Acts 2:38).
  3. They focus on Jesus’ love and acceptance to the exclusion of His teaching on hell, obedience, and self-sacrifice (Mark 9:43; Luke 12:5).
  4. They tolerate or even celebrate ongoing sin while claiming to know God (1 Corinthians 5:1-2).
  5. They redefine scriptural truths to accommodate culture (Numbers 23:19).
  6. Claiming God’s promises while ignoring the requirements included with them (Psalm 50:16).
  7. They deny or minimise Jesus’ claim that He is the only way to God (John 14:6).
  8. They perform enough religious activity to gain a sense of well-being without a true devotion to Jesus (Romans 8:9).
  9. They see protection and blessing as goals to be achieved, rather than by-products of a love relationship with God (Mark 12:30).
  10. They are lukewarm and choose the church to attend based on any or all of the above (Revelation 3:15-17).

CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Mention what true Christians can do to help cultural Christians.

CONCLUSION: Jesus’ warning in Matthew 7:21-23 should be a wake-up call to cultural Christians.

QUESTIONS

  1. Describe cultural Christians in two sentences.
  2. Mention four ways to identify a cultural Christian.

EVALUATION: Who is a cultural Christian?

CLOSING PRAYER: Almighty Father, please heal all cultural Christians in Jesus’ name.

ASSIGNMENT: Write five differences between a true Christian and a cultural Christian. (2×5=10 marks).

RCCG SOD Year 2: Dealing With Demons. Part 2

DEALING WITH DEMONS [Part 2]

THE TRUTH ABOUT DELIVERANCE (PART 2)

DEMONS, like angels, are spirit-beings. In Hebrews 1:14, the Bible says that angels are ministering spirits. Thus, demons, who are also fallen angels, are also spirit-beings visible to the physical eyes. As a result, when demons They are not leave a particular person, they are not visible to the physical eye. Therefore, it doesn’t follow that a person undergoing a deliverance ministration ought to vomit anything as a proof of deliverance. When you tell a demon to go out, and they obey you, it does not mean that you must see it physically. Also, when ministering deliverance to a person, it ought not be by physical effort. You are dealing with something spiritual. Spiritual battles are not fought with physical force. Zechariah 4:6 says:

“Not by might nor by power but by my spirit says the Lord.”

This is speaking of the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ. You can only cast demons out in the name of Jesus.

In Mark 16:17 the Bible says, “These signs shall follow them that believe; in my name they shall cast out devils.” You can’t cast out demons in any other name other than the name of Jesus. You must have the authority and the backing of the Lord Jesus. In Luke 10:17-19, the 70 disciples were sent out in Jesus’ authority and power. Why must demons bow when we cast them out in Jesus authority?Luke 10:16 says, “He that heareth you heareth me and he that despiseth you despiseth me, and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.” When you have the backing of the Lord Jesus, you also have the backing of the Almighty God. This is why when you command demons to get out in Jesus’ Name; the demons immediately come face to face with God the Father. Demons believe in God and they tremble. Thus, when they see themselves facing Him, they move quickly.

In order to get God’s backing, the following things must be in place:

(1) You must be holy: Isaiah 59: 1-2 say: “The hand of the Lord is not short that He cannot save…” But if you allow sin, He will not be able to come to your rescue.

(2) You must ask for His assistance:

In John 15:5, Jesus says “without me you can do nothing”. That is why you must ask for His backing.

(3) Give Him the glory:

You must be ready to give Him the glory when the demons have been cast out because you are not the one who has cast them out but He is the one who backed you up. It is the backing that He gave you that produced the miracle.

(4) You must be filled with His Spirit

You must be full of the Holy Spirit inside and outside. Zechariah 4:6 says: “Not by might nor by power but by my Spirit…”You can only overcome the devil if the one who is in you is greater than the devil. I John 4:4 says: “Ye are of God little children and ye have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.” You must be filled with the Greater One so that you can overcome the lesser one. You must be filled both inside and outside.

After you might have cast out the enemy, he will want to counter-attack and retaliate. Because of this, you must be filled with the Holy Ghost to overflowing. Psalms 23:5 says “Thou anointest my head with oil; and my cup runneth over”. Your anointing must be overflowing. When a ball is full of air, you can sit on it or kick it about. But if the ball is a ball of fire, nobody dares to tamper with it.

Every disciple must desire to be like a ball of fire which no demon can kick about.

RCCG SOD Year 2: Truth About Deliverance

DEALING WITH DEMONS [Part 1]

THE TRUTH ABOUT DELIVERANCE (PART 1)

We will learn about lies that the devil tells concerning casting out demons and these lies are as follow:-

1. Satan will tell you that you must be afraid that you are dealing with unknown forces of darkness and that you should believe it. True we are dealing with forces of darkness but we are the light and being genuine disciples, we need not to be afraid. Matthew 10:1. Just like disciples of old were given power to drive out demons, we should do the same.

2. Satan will tell you that only a few great ministers can cast out demons. This is untrue. You don’t have to be a top rank minister of God before you can cast out demons. In Luke 10, When Jesus sent out His disciples, vs. 17 says that “even devils are subject unto us through thy name.”

Remember, these were not the 12 Apostles, but the 70 Disciples. In vs 19, Jesus said “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Don’t be afraid of demons, they can’t harm you. If you are living a holy life you can cast out demons and there is nothing they can do about it. 3. There is another lie of the devil. The devil wants you to believe that you need very big faith before you can cast out demons. It is untrue because the Bible says if you have just enough faith like a grain of mustard seed, you can move mountains. In Mark 16:15-17 the bible says: “And these signs shall follow them that believe; in my name shall they cast out devils…” Not those with great faith.

4. At times, faith may need to be supported by fasting (Matthew 17:21) but it is not always. The Bible tells us in Matthew 17:21: that prayer and fasting are essential for casting out demons. There are several billion demons in the world but special ones need prayer and fasting, you must satisfy the condition. The rule in this case is that you must endeavour to fast at least three days in a month especially the last three days of the month is for the disciple.

Jesus says cast out, you must take the initiative It does not mean you should be on the defensive side, you are to move against the enemy must take offensive action.

5. Another lie of the devil is that you need a bigger demon inside you before you can cast a smaller demon. You should recognize straight away that this is a lie. Matthew 12:24-26, the Bible makes it clear that a devil cannot cast out a devil:

According to Matthew 6:24, it is either you belong to the kingdom of God or the kingdom of the devil. No one can effectively belong to two kingdoms James 3:11: “Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter.”

6. One other lie is that which says: “Faith is all you need to cast out demons.” This of course is untrue, you also need holiness. You must be holy before deliverance, during deliverance and after casting out demons. You must be possessed totally by God in order to fully resist the devil. James 4:7 says it is when you submit yourself wholly to God that you can resist the devil and he will flee.

If you are in sin you will be hurt if you try to cast out a demon.

If you have participated in cases he bas your name down and wants to find a way of revenge. The confidence of a manager compared to a messenger is based on what is in the inside of the manager. He has knowledge. experience and A law expertise which the messenger lacks. A Law enforcement office is effective and able to challenge armed robbers because of that which he knows. Not only does he have weapons but he how to use them. He knows that the government will support him: you must have said and you must also have the assurance that God is dwelling in you, there is no sin within your camp.

Another lie goes thus; that casting out demons is fun. That is a lie. Driving out demons action. It is not show business. 6:12, the Bible likens casting out We are wrestling and not wrestling, and wrestling is not a joke: It is a tough thing indeed. joking. Always be prepared for battle. It is true that we are more than conquerors, and that w are the light of the world. We must not relent, we must be prepared. Goliath looked at David as small, we should not take our enemy for granted We must not confront demons without praying and calling on the trinity. We must summon the Allied.

RCCG SOD Year 2: Satanic Operating Techniques

RCCG SOD Year 2: Satanic Operating Techniques

OW does Satan operate? One of the How notorious techniques of the enemy is as old as creation. He collects information and launches attacks based on the information at his disposal. Satan may attack in five main parts listed below: most

(1) He can send spies.

(2) He would analyse the information that the spies bring.

(3) He would lay an ambush based on the information collected for him.

(4) He would arrange for a mock attack that is not the real one. He may attack from the left when he actually wants to attack from the right.

(5) He can launch the real attack.

#1  SENDING SPIES

The spies collect their information through the careless talks of their victims. For example, when spies come to a country to collect information, they go into beer parlours, hotels, barbers’ shop and listen to what people are saying as they discuss politics, the economic situation, etc. They begin to listen to what people are saying, and thus collect information necessary to take back home.

Examples:

a. In Genesis 3:1-3, Satan said something to Eve and listen to her reply. Satan said: “Yea, hath God said you shall not eat of every tree of the Garden?’ He wanted to know what Eve’s reply would be. When Eve wanted to reply, she said: “No, its just the two trees He said we shouldn’t eat from, lest we die.” Whereas what God said is “If you eat, you will die,” not may be you will die. From Eve’s answer, Satan knew that Eve was not satisfied with what God said. In fact, she was already twisting what God said. So it was easy for him now to continue with his attack.

(b) In the taking of Jericho, Joshua sent spies, and they went straight to a hotel. They went into an inn, from there, they got the information they wanted; that the people were already frightened and they knew that the children of Israel were already on the way and that their God is a powerful God (Joshua 2:8-11).

(c) The same story is true of Samson. Delilah was a spy of the enemy, Judges 16:5-8.

(d) The same story was true of Gideon in Judges 7:1. 15

Every child of God must learn to control his tongue. If you do not give information to the enemy, it will be difficult for the enemy to attack you.

In Proverbs 17:27-28, the Bible says: “He that hath knowledge spareth his words; and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of

understanding.” If you keep your mouth shut, nobody will know whether you are a graduate or somebody who never went to school. If you keep your mouth shut, nobody will know whether you are wise or foolish. In fact, if everybody is talking and you keep quiet, anybody looking will say this is the only wise man here.

According to Proverbs 18:7, the Bible says: “a fool’s mouth is his destruction and his lips are the snare of his soul.”

My prayer is that your mouth will not destroy you. If you keep your mouth shut, Satan will not be able to find out what God is doing in your life.

#2 ANALYSING INFORMATION BROUGHT BY SPIES

This involves finding out the area where the enemy is least resistant and then launching your attack there. You will attack the weak spot. If for example, you keep on talking and you begin to tell everybody what God is doing for you; may be you say “I love my wife, anything she says, that is what I will do. Once my wife speaks, it is already settled.” As soon as the devil hears that, he knows how to enter into your wife and cause her to say some things that will lead you to destruction. When the spies come home and bring all their information, Satan will pick the one that suits him and use it for attack.

#3  LAYING AMBUSH

When the opponent is sleeping, thinking that all is well and safe, then the enemy will spread his net. The time when you least expect is when the enemy will want to attack. It was at night that the enemy attacked Elisha in Dothan, 2 Kings 6:8-15. The enemy knows how to lay ambush quietly.

#4 MOCK ATTACK

This is diversionary tactics. For example, the. devil may want to bring sickness to a family and he knows that in this family they are all prayer warriors, that he cannot come in because they will bombard him with prayers, he knows that both the husband and wife are fire, he will start a quarrel between husband

and wife to cause diversion. bitterness are raging between the two of them, while the two of them are still thinking, “should I forgive or hit er on the head, they wouldn’t be able to pray. The doo will be open and then the devil will bring in sickness and anything else can follow. This is the kind of method that Joshua used in the taking of the town of A in Joshua 8:3-7. When anger and

#5 THE REAL ATTACK

After the mock attack, the devil will like to launch the real attack as in the story of Joshua and Samson in Joshua 8:15-21 and Judges 16:16-18.

WHAT ARE WE TO DO SO THE DEVIL CANNOT GET US?

The first thing to do is to prevent the spies from getting any information Psalm 141:1-3.

According to Psalm 141:3, David prayed a prayer that we all should pray. He said.

“Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”

If you learn to keep your mouth shut, the enemy will not be able to get you. Once the enemy has got the information, he wants from you and when he gets to the ambush stage, only divine revelation can help you (2 Kings 6:8-12).

Tell God to set a watch over your mouth.

RCCG SOD Year 2: Devil On Assignment Part Three

KNOW YOUR ENEMY Part 8

DEMONS ON ASSIGNMENT (PART 3)

DEMONS have names. For example, they have names like pride, lust etc. Angels also have names. For example they bear Michael, Gabriel. Temperance, Mercy and Humility also could be names of angels. When the devil knows you are a determined officer of Jesus, he will do all he could to get you out of battle field and thus defeat you.

He does this by setting a realm of demons against you: The four types of demons he commonly uses are

(1) Sorrow

(2) Discouragement

(3) Fear

(4) Suicide or Murder.

These are in ascending order as they are listed downwards.

HOW THEY OPERATE:

#1 Sorrow

It happens when there is a reversal of anything

good. It could be as a result of bad news, accusation etc. The devil knows you are a trinity and aware that you understand the word of God (1 Thessalonians 5:23). He knows that out of spirit, soul and body, the spirit is the most important and without the spirit, man is of no use (Proverbs 18:141. He then attacks with sorrow.

The greatest weapon against the spirit is sorrow (Proverbs 15:13). When a man is sorrowful:

His vision becomes dim (both physically and spiritually) -Job 17:7

(i) The strength (physically and spiritually) is drained quickly -1 Samuel 30:1-4. When sorrow matures, it graduates into discouragement.

#2 Discouragement:

A sort of drowsiness both spiritual and physical and it stoops down. He looks at the problem instead of looking to the Author of his faith (Proverbs 12:25), Satan is a world champion in boxing (Luke 22:45). There are two things a Christian can do. That is, he can be fully awake and praying or be drowsy and sleeping.

#3 Fear:

Might have come because of sin when Satan begins to remind you of your former sins despite the power of Jesus. He might quote Isaiah 59:1 2. If you want to pray, he will again remind you of Psalm 66:18. Then fear increases the more and You can’t pray. Then fear may lead to murder of suicide.

#4  Suicide or Murder:

If a person is a leader, the demon may start with his members against him and he becomes dead physically and spiritually (I Samuel 30:1-6; 1 Kings 19:1-4). Immediately after a great victory, the devil strikes.

HOW TO HANDLE SUCH A SITUATION

(1) Never take a decision when you are tired. As disciples, we must be strong soldiers. When someone gets a blow, it goes to the brain and you must take it easy and while lying low, start talking briefly to God until you overcome.

Remember God is nearer to you even than you think. Learn to ask questions like “What is happening, Father?” I Samuel 30:8; 1 Kings 19:5-8.

(2) Never retire but get ready to refire (I Samuel 30:10 ) As soon as you lie low, as a good boxer that receives a blow, hear from the Lord and begin to refire. There must be occasion of battle lost but if we faint not and persist, at least angels will assist us to win. These angels are: (1) Comfort (ii) Hope (iii) Joy (iv) Strength (v) Courage and (vi) Faith.

These are in addition to the two already available, that is, Goodness and Mercy. It is angel Victory that announces the result.

In I Samuel 30:18-20, David became comforted, hopeful and more respected.

RCCG SOD Year 2: The Disciple and Time.

RCCG SOD Year 2: The Disciple and Time.

THE disciple knows that there is a time for weeping THE a time for laughing (Ecclessiastes 3:1-4). He knows that you must weep in prayer. In your prayer closet, you must pray the prayers that will bring tears to your eyes before there can be shouts of victory. The Lord constantly prayed all night. He wrestled all night so that when the day came, he could have miracles. In John 11:35 the Bible says, ‘Jesus wept.’ When did Jesus weep? just before He performed one of the greatest miracles which He performed on earth; just before He said to a man who had been dead for four days, “Lazarus, come forth!” Weeping must come before laughing. There must have been real rejoicing when Lazarus came forth.

Many don’t know that before you can have genuine salvation, we have to sorrow for our sins. In Romans 12:15, the Bible says that we are to weep with those who are weeping and rejoice with those who are rejoicing. The rejoicing may not necessarily be because of you but for someone else. The Bible says because someone has a reason to rejoice, you must rejoice with Him. Also, if someone is weeping you have the injunction of the Lord, you must weep with the fellow.

There must be the occasion to weep in prayer, an you are charging your battery getting ready for action. Then the next day when everyone is watching, miracles begin to happen. Many times, people will see us praying Just for a minute and miracles begin to happen. They don’t the fasting and prayers and preparations which had gone before. They do not see the preparations which precede the miracle. I remember when I used to be interested in bating People would say that there is a championship fight where for only 45 minutes, the boners will go home with millions of naira, perhaps N100,000 per minute. These people were only calculating the time of the fight. They were not taking into consideration how for six months, the boxer was waking up by 5.00am, jogging over six or more miles, shadow-boxing and practicing with punch-bags, enduring beatings so that his body could get used to beatings etc. But the people don’t see  that. All they see is the fight

You must charge your battery if you want you car to start immediately. There is always a time of weeping before there can be a shout of Halleluiah

TIME TO MOURN

In the same Ecclessiastes 3:4, the Bible says that just as there is a time to weep and a time to laugh, there is also a time for mourning and dancing. Mourning must precede the victory dance. There is no crusade or outreach that is successful unless someone had first of all done some mourning. Try and conduct a crusade without some real agony of preparation; no fasting’s, no night vigils, no rolling on the ground before the Almighty God, nothing will happen. You will make an altar call and nobody will respond. But when you have done your mourning, you get to the crusade ground and you can dance the victory dance when you see souls being saved.

No one has given birth naturally without experiencing labour pains. Even if the child is not born naturally, that is, through an operation, the doctors know the agony of the mother. But when the baby arrives, people begin to dance but there had been a preceeding mourning. The Bible says in Psalm 126:5-6.

“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him”

If you have never prayed these kinds of prayers that bring tears to your eyes, you must do so. Maybe you want the salvation of your father and you go to God saying, “Lord save my father” God knows you are not set. It is not a prayer you can pray laughing. You must go before the Almighty God and hold him saying, “Lord, I’m not leaving you until you answer me. You must be merciful unto me, why should I go to heaven and my husband/wife goes to hell? Are you not the one who told me that if I come to the Lord Jesus Christ, I will be saved, and my family with me? Lord, what is

happening?” When you go with mourning and tears on your face, you can be sure your days of laughter are around the corner, because those who sow in tears shall reap in joy

You must talk to God seriously about all those people you don’t want to go to hell. Mourn over them in prayers.

Natural Disasters. RCCG Sunday School Manual

TOPIC: Natural Disasters (RCCG Sunday School Student Manual 2 June 2024)

MEMORY VERSE: “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.” – Matthew 24:7(KJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 24:6-8 (KJV)

6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

INTRODUCTION:

Natural disasters challenge the Christian belief that God is good. The enormous loss of lives and properties resulting from pandemics, earthquakes, floods, etc, is terrible and tragic. Our grief and even our anger are human, but no one grieves more than the Lord Himself (Hebrews 4:15). Christ is moved by the afflictions we suffer and even weeps over our pains (John. 11:35). Could the God who loves us also be the one to destroy us? How do we reconcile the mercy of God in Christ with His permission for natural disasters?

LESSON OUTLINES:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION
WHY GOD ALLOWS IT
1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Natural disasters are catastrophic events with atmospheric, geological, or hydrological origins. It is a major adverse event resulting from natural processes of the Earth; examples include firestorms, dust storms, floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, and other geological processes. A natural disaster can cause loss of lives or damage properties and typically leaves some economic damages in its wake, the severity of which depends on the affected population’s resilience or the infrastructure available (Luke 21:11).

God created the whole universe and the laws of nature (Genesis 1:1). Most natural disasters are a result of these laws at work. For instance, hurricanes, typhoons, and tornados are the results of divergent weather patterns colliding. Earthquakes are the result of the earth’s plate structure shifting. A tsunami is caused by an underwater earthquake.

Natural disasters differ from God’s use of natural forces, as recorded in the Bible. Natural disasters kill and maim indiscriminately. God’s acts of judgement recorded in the Bible were selective (Genesis 19:29-30). On one hand, natural disasters usually strike with little or no warning. On the other hand, God gave warnings to the wicked before using natural forces against them (Genesis 6:13; Matthew 24:38-39).

CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Students should recall instances of natural disasters they are aware of.

2. WHY GOD ALLOWS IT

It is distressing that natural disasters are often termed “acts of God” while no “credit” is given to God for years, decades, or even centuries of peace and stability.

However, generally, God allows natural disasters so as:
i. To serve as a warning for unbelievers. Disasters are warnings, and unbelievers often turn to God for the first time when they face a tornado or an earthquake (Revelation 11:13).
ii. To remind us that even nature was affected by sin. Natural disasters remind us that nature, while beautiful, is broken and cursed (Genesis 3:17-18).
iii. To establish God’s supremacy over man. Some disasters give no warning even with all the science and technology a country can afford to put in place (Psalms 115:3).
iv. To indicate the beginning of the last days. They are signs of the end times (Matthew 24:3, 7).
v. To allow cause and effect to operate independently. Some natural disasters are a result of man’s abuse and damage to the natural environment (Ecclesiastes 7:29).
vi. To allow believers to demonstrate God’s love to humanity by helping, ministering, counselling, praying, and leading people to the saving faith in Christ (Acts 11:28-30; Galatians 6:10).
vii. To establish God’s judgement upon the wicked (Genesis 18:20; 19:24-25).

CONCLUSION: God can, and does, bring great good out of terrible tragedies (Romans 8:28).

QUESTIONS:

Describe the term ‘natural disaster’
Why does God allow ‘natural disasters’?
ASSIGNMENT: Identify five ways the church can help those affected by natural disasters. (2×5=10 marks)
